I totally missed this back in 2010. That’s when the above trailer for Pac-Man: The Adventure Begins was apparently shown at that year’s E3 in 3D (which accounts for the awesome blurriness). The show, it seems, will be in 3D as well, and will be broadcast on the Disney XD channel sometime in 2013.

The ghosts? Undead spirits of fallen soldiers who tried to enslave Pac-World. Sure. Why not?

    Pac-Man? Some kind of…kid? In Pac-school? Learning to…eat the ghosts…to fight against them…what?

I don’t know about this thing. I don’t know about this thing at all. But it’s coming. And there’s nothing we can do to stop it.

Also, everyone seems to be naked, except for shoes, socks, and gloves, which seems like way too much kinky weirdness for a kids’ show.

As "The Avengers" and "Captain America 2" are both set in the present day, it seemed like we might not be seeing Howling Commando member Gabe Jones again any time soon.

But when MTV News caught up with the man behind the squad member, Derek Luke, at the Spirit Awards over the weekend, he teased that that might not be the case.

Tease is the crucial word here. Do we know any more about Luke's future roles at Marvel? No. Does he say he'll be in upcoming movies with Captain America? Not at all. But he does reveal that there is a very high likelihood that he'll be returning to the Marvel universe in future films, and left us to puzzle out whatever that may mean.

When asked whether the time period shift for the upcoming Marvel movies from World War II (in "Captain America") to the present day would mean we wouldn't see Luke in future installments of the franchise, he just smiled and crafted a very evasive answer.

"It's amazing what happens when you walk through one door, it opens so many of them," he said. "So what I'll say is so many doors are open right now for me on that level and I'm just excited."

There was no way MTV News's Josh Horowitz was going to let Luke get away with that cryptic of an answer. When he prompted the actor to explain what he meant a little more, Luke answered, "In the world of Marvel, you can be anybody at any time so what you see is not always what is. That's all I have to say."

So does that mean Gabe Jones was actually some other significant Marvel character? Will he somehow be incorporated into the present day universe of "Captain America 2"? Or does Luke mean that he is lined up to take on some other Marvel movies unrelated to "Captain America." Don't expect to get an answer any time soon.

"I'm saying the door is wide open," Luke said, refusing to add any more. "And I'm excited."

Over the last few years, Sega has been in charge of publishing video game adaptations of some of the big Marvel movies, including Captain America: Super Soldier, as well as Thor: God of Thunder, The Incredible Hulk, and both Iron Man movie games,. However, the results have been middling, at best—a post on Eurogamer reveals that the average Metascore rating for all of those games is 47.8…which, you know, is not the greatest track record.

But in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Marvel’s Games Production vice president, TQ Jefferson, mentions “There are no current plans for additional Marvel games to be published by Sega.”

The interview also reveals Jefferson’s insights into the problems inherent with video game adaptations of movies—which are in tern adaptations of comic books:

“In my opinion, the biggest afflictions affecting movie-licensed games is the amount of development time and a strict adherence to retelling the story of the film in the form of a game. The former is easy to understand — less development time means less time to design, produce and polish the game, resulting in a poor or lesser-quality experience. The latter is a little more subtle, but I can sum it up thusly: If a development team were to follow a film’s plot line to the letter, then you would have a two-hour experience with a bunch of thugs and one boss fight. That’s simply not how we define “movie licensed console game,” now or ever. In order to hit the expected amount of gameplay, you need to embellish, add additional characters, story, subplots and objectives to make a more robust and satisfying experience. That’s where a lot of movie licenses fall down – lack of content.”
The interview offers plenty of interesting commentary on this segment of the gaming world, and if you’re interested in the kinds of games that come out of comic book movies, it’s a good read.

On paper, video games based on super hero movies shouldn’t ever be bad—both are interpreting heroic power fantasies in a way to let consumers live vicariously through the protagonists. And yet, because it’s easy to sell something with a recognizable name brand slapped on it, so many of these games just get rushed and dumped into the retail space in order to hit that deadline. I’m hopeful that Activision’s next Spider-Man game, which is based on this summer’s movie franchise reboot, will bring Spidey back to his awesome gaming roots. We’ll see.

Watching Jake Lloyd play Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was just as annoying for me as Jar Jar Binks. I can't blame Lloyd for the terrible performance because every actor in the movie was bad! The film had an all star cast that included Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, and Natalie Portman, and they all gave the worst performances of their careers. Yeah, I think we can all agree that was Lucas' fault.

Apparently Lloyd, who is now 22-years-old, will need to eventually undergo some counselling. In a recent interview, Lloyd explains that working on The Phantom Menace was a "Living Hell" and it's because of his experinces with that film and Lucas that he never acted again. He only reprised his role as Anakin for five video games. Hell, the guy can't stand it when a camera is pointed at him. "I've learned to hate it when the cameras are pointed at me." Now that's pretty sad. Here's a kid that gets to live the dream of playing one of the most iconic villains of all time, in a beloved franchise, and it screwed him up--making him despise the very thing he loved.

During that time while he was trying go to school and be a kid, he was being rushed all over the world doing media interviews. He felt alienated from all the other students and friends around him, and resented Lucas so much that he ended up eventually destroying all his Star Wars memorabilia. Wow! He goes on to explain that,

Other children were really mean to me. They would make the sound of the lightsaber every time they saw me. It was totally mad. My entire school life was really a living hell—and I had to do up to 60 interviews a day... When you have something like that there's a lot of expectations for it to meet the standards of the public, and I don't think George [Lucas] did that.

Project X and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island are getting sequels. Project X cost $12 million to make and then brought in over $21 million opening weekend. THR reports that Michael Bacall is writing a treatment. Bacall came up with the story concept and co-wrote the screenplay with Matt Drake. He began writing a treatment for the sequel weeks before Project X opened. It is not known if that treatment will become the script. That decision will be in the hands of producers Todd Phillips and Joel Silver.

At this time it is not known if the actors will return for a sequel or whether the studio has options on the stars. Warner Bros. learned their lesson from The Hangover, where they did not have options and were forced to pay a premium to make a sequel.

Journey 2 has killed it at the box office, making over $270 million worldwide. THR reports that a sequel is being fast-tracked to have the third movie in theaters in 2014. The film is planned as a 3D family adventure based on Jules Verne's writings. Brad Peyton and writers Brian Gunn and Mark Gunn have signed deals to return for another sequel. Deals have not been inked with any cast members, but producers Beau Flynn, Tripp Vinson, and Charlotte Huggins will return.

Here is what Peyton had to say:

I grew up a fan of Verne, so I know a lot about the mythologies. Mysterious Island was one of eight or nine really seminal works. I know we've just scratched the surface of what we can do. This one's going to be a lot bigger. We're going to go to a completely different world. It's just going to be a bigger experience, and we're going to grow the mythology. Journey 2 was about rebooting a franchise; now it's about making the seminal work in the franchise.

Paramount Pictures is moving forward with Top Gun 2, and they've hired The Town screenwriter Peter Craig to take a crack at writing the script. I am one of the few people that thought The Town turned out like a student film; I didn't really care for it.

As for Top Gun 2, it's a completely different kind of film and it could be a good project for Craig to work on. The movie is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and will end up being a big tent pole spectacle that I'm sure will make a ton of money.

Craig will replace Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (X-Men: First Class), who were originally hired to write the script but apparently never wrote anything. So it looks like Craig has a blank canvas to work with.

As of right now there are no plot details, but Tony Scott and Tom Cruise are expected to return to it in some compactly. The studio is very serious about the film, and it sounds like it's actually going to get made.

Dwayne Johnson is in high demand for action films and has signed on to star in two new films. Variety reports that Johnson has finalized a deal with MGM to play the title role in Brett Ratner's Hercules, which is slated to being shooting in New Zealand this October.

Ryan Condal adapted Steve Moore's graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian War. The project will be produced by MGM's Roger Birnbaum, Gary Barber, and Jonathan Glickman with Peter Berg and his Film 44 partner Sarah Aubrey, as well as Barry Levine of Radical Pictures, whose Jesse Berger will executive produce.

Deadline reports that Johnson has also signed on to star in Ciudad for directors Joe and Anthony Russo. The intense action thriller is being produced by Eric Gitter and Peter Schwerin of Closed on Mondays Entertainment (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World), as well as Emmett/Furla Films's Randall Emmett & George Furla.
Joe Russo penned the script based on the upcoming Oni Press graphic novel that the Russo Brothers co-wrote with Ande Parks. The story takes place "in one of the most dangerous and corrupt cities in the world." Johnson will play "a black market mercenary hired by a Brazilian drug lord to rescue his kidnapped daughter."

The Russos have mainly been working on the small screen, with TV series like Community, Happy Endings, and Arrested Development. Ciudad is their first action film and first feature film since 2006′s You, Me And Dupree.

Here is what the Russos had to say about the project:

Exploring genre has always been a driving motivation for us as filmmakers. This movie is the culmination of a long time ambition to bring our sensibilities to an action thriller.

Here's out first official look at Adam Sandler's upcoming CGI animated film Hotel Transylvania. The image gives us a full shot of all the characters in the film.

Sandler will be playing Dracula in the story, Kevin James will play Frank – also known as Frankenstein – with Fran Drescher voicing Eunice, his in-your-face, over-the-top, and larger-than-life Bride. David Spade plays Quasimodo, once the hunchback of Notre Dame and now a crazy, passionate gourmet chef always looking for his next piece de resistance. Steve Buscemi and Molly Shannon will play Wayne and Wanda, a pair of married, harried werewolves, parents to an ever-increasing litter of pups, who are looking forward to their family vacation at the hotel. Cee Lo Green is also joining the cast as Murray, a boisterous Mummy, once entertainer to the great Pharaohs, now the life of the party, and always feeling the urge to let loose and sing. Finally, Andy Samberg will voice the role of Jonathan, a 21-year-old regular guy, carefree and full of life, whose world travels land him at the Hotel.

Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's (Sandler) lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free from meddling from the human world. But here's a little known fact about Dracula: he is not only the Prince of Darkness; he is also a dad. Over-protective of his teenage daughter, Mavis, Dracula fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade her adventurous spirit. As a haven for Mavis, he opens the Hotel Transylvania, where his daughter and some of the world's most famous monsters – Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more – can kick back in safety and peace. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem – but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has given an update on his long gestating Bioshock and Highlander projects. AICN spoke to the director while he was at SXSW doing press for Intruders.

Here is what the director had to say about his love for Bioshock:

Yeah, me too. You know, there’s a problem with the video game… well, it’s not a problem. The thing is, Bioshock is super complicated, it is a very high budget movie. Obviously, the studio doesn’t want to make a big budget movie with an R (rating). And it has to be an R.
The rating is one of the reasons this project is delayed. Fresnadillo stated:

So, that’s the problem, I think, that the video game and the studio are trying to make an agreement about.
The director went on to talk about his continued involvement with the project:

I don’t know, to be honest. It was a very interesting experience to work with Gore Verbinski developing the story a bit and to pitch with the video game. I learned a lot about Hollywood and this kind of project, but I don’t know.
When asked about his plans to create the Bioshock universe, this is what Fresnadillo had to say:

Yeah, me too, but I would say… keeping in mind that the cost was one of the problems I would recommend to combine realism with good and special CGI. The most important thing is to make it feel like a real thing and I think you could do that with a good DP and a very real concept of the camera.

That was something I proposed from the beginning, (for it) to work as an experience, you know? From the very beginning to the very end tracking the point of view of the hero of the story, going with him.
One of the issues with the project is finding a way to create a story around a game where each player becomes the leader:

You have to create a personality and the proper character to track that. But, you know, it’s a project that is on hold right now, so I’m not paying too much attention to that. Right now I’m so keen (for) another project, which could be my next movie, which is Highlander.

I think it’s a very interesting reboot because I think the concept is so solid and very epic, which is something that I really love, so let’s see if we can continue working on that. I think it could be my next movie.
Here is what Fresnadillo had to say about Highlander:

Again, I think it’s about following the character. I would love, if we make the movie, to feel the immortality. Immortality is a curse and I would love to feel that. You are overcoming time, but you see at the same time that the most beautiful things, the things that you love, are dying and you continue this life as a tragedy. You can’t love with anyone because you’re going to lose that person.

I would love to introduce that flavor in a very strong way in the movie and at the same time the big connection with the Universe. “Why am I immortal? Why am I the chosen one?”

In that sense, the movie is an epic. I think it’s some kind of adventure romantic story about somebody who trying to share in his immortality with someone. I don’t want to reveal more than that, but there is a new revelation in the movie that is connecting with that in a very deep and strong way. If we make it, I hope you enjoy it!

Before there was Avatar; before there was The Matrix; before there was The Phantom Menace, there was Jurassic Park. The 1993 Steven Spielberg film was a landmark in computer animation and was the #1 film of 1993. It spawned two lesser sequels, The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III, and an entire themed area at Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure. Spielberg confirmed last year that a fourth Jurassic Park film is in development and, although he won't direct, he plans to be heavily involved. Next year marks the Jurassic Park's 20th anniversary and following the 3D re-releases of The Lion King, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and Titanic, the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park will appear even closer in 3D on July 19th, 2013, little more than two weeks after the release of Spielberg's sci-fi thriller Robopacalypse.

I saw a bit of the original a few weeks back, was amazed at how well the movie has held up over the ages. I'm actually pretty excited for a re-release.

The story centers around two teams of Roughnecks: the Alpha 1 team embarking on a mission to rescue the distant outpost Fort Casey and the K-12 team already stationed at Fort Casey. The two war-depleted squads must band together with a common objective, but personalities and ambition ensure a bumpy ride.

Hmm...don't know if I like the decade old cgi quality, but I might give this movie a chance.
