Also, certain black women getting mad about Michael B Jordan calling Angela Bassett "Auntie" when it was basically the same line he said in Black Panther...
Best Oscar acceptance speech ever?

New Genndy Tartakovsky show.
Set in a world that’s been plagued by a malevolent presence since the dawn of time, Unicorn: Warriors Eternal tells the tale of a group of ancient heroes who, through countless reincarnations, have spent multiple lifetimes fighting to keep the forces of darkness at bay. Though a powerful sorceress named Melinda, a “cosmic monk” called Tseng, and Edred, a warrior elf, are all committed to their mission, their lives are all upended when their reincarnation cycle’s interrupted, which flings their souls into the bodies of unsuspecting teenagers who can’t control their powers or remember who they truly are.
The Screen Actors Guild has chosen to strike after being unable to come to an agreement with the studios. I know AI has been a sticking point for both the writers and actors with the studios saying it's too early to regulate that content. I wonder if the studios will lean into that for upcoming content.
The biggest sticking point with both unions afaik is the residuals from streaming services.
First time that both the actors and writing guilds have been on strike since 1960
Disney CEO Bob Iger out here blaming the writers and actors for ruining the industry. He also says Marvel created too much content and Disney is looking to sell off a number of TV and Cable networks.

could all be a bluff obviously but unnamed studio sources were telling deadline that they had no intention of really starting serious negotiations with writers until like october because then the strikers will be running out of savings and facing the possibility of losing their housing etc
I got a bad feeling about this one. I feel like we're in for a long pause and execs are gonna hold out and try not to lose the golden egg in AI before it's even really up and running. Not optimistic about this one...here comes Heroes S2 all over again

Last writers strike led to a massive rise in reality TV and the rise of David Zaslav who is currently destroying Warner Bros.
The residuals/metrics from streaming are I think a far bigger concern for right now than AI. Studios haven't had to share those numbers so there's no way for the writers/actors to know if they're being properly compensated relative to viewership.
it's gonna suck, but it's necessary and a long time coming
The critics reviews for Oppenheimer are 94% on RT right now. They are saying it's Nolan's best movie undoubtedly. Many are calling it a masterpiece. Some are even saying it's the best movie this decade so far. Audience score is also over 90.
I was going to go see it with my Dad this weekend because he is really interested in WWII history and knows a lot about it. I thought it would be something I wouldn't have to reserve tickets for cause it's not a big action summer thing. To my surprise every showing in IMAX for the whole weekend is pretty much sold out. Just a few seats left right down front which is no good.

I really wanted to see it, I'm glad to hear it seems like a good movie. Looking forward to it.
See it at a real IMAX theater if you can. The entire thing was shot on IMAX cameras and 70mm large format film. I have read a couple spoiler free reviews and they say it looks absolutely stunning. The best movie ever shot in imax.. A monumental achievement in film making, etc.

It's weird cause Oppenheimer was a great movie, but it's 10000% political. There's zero action in it. And yet, it's shot and scored amazingly. My only gripe is I wish action flicks were filmed this competently lol

Getting 3 big blockbuster movies all out at the same time that are all completely different is quite fun.
Between Mission Impossible, Barbie, and Oppenheimer there's something for everyone right now
Gdi I want to watch MI now, but I want part two to be closer to release cause I hate it when movies do this shit
