That's exactly it also. I also, though briefly (LOL fired after a week for being 3 minutes late) worked for Comcast in Everett, WA and they only support WA and northern OR.
And just as Khamsin said, they actually WANT you to credit people if they call to complain. It's part of their customer first thing here. It really wasn't a bad experience and they all wanted to be friendly, well to their customers. A buddy got fired because of his father's death and family plans, they wouldn't give him enough time and he didn't show. It's actually classified as voluntary resignation.
Any calls from anyone that came from out of our region was one of a few possibilities... overflow and we were tasked to handle it or mistakes.
And anyone with Comcast should do these things:
Call at least once a month to check deals. You'd be surprised at how often they have a deal like "Double your connect speed for 3 months free" or "Pick a premium channel for 6 months free" or some crazy crap like that. And it's non-contracted so you can call at the end to cancel it before they start billing for those additions for no additional charge.
ANYTIME you lose service, call and complain. They'll just say "Sorry, let me credit your account" and you get 1-3 days of credit back for any outage regardless of whose fault it is.
