Network speed problem...

So my problem is that when i copy things over the network, they're only being sent at a top speed of 23mb/s. Is there something i need to change in order to increase the top speed of files being sent over the net work? My current setup is...

My computer two computers are conntect to a 5 port gigabit switch that is connected to a 24 port gigabit switch where my server is just directly connected to the 24 port switch. All the switchs are gigabit in the network and all the cabling is CAT6.

Sounds like something in your system is throttling your speeds. Check settings of your server and computers and router (if applicable) and see if any of them have options to hinder certain file traffic in favor of others and then verify this traffic is not occuring simultaneously. Also verify your packet sizes... just in case. Then if you want find a speed tester and test speeds between computers and server and see if it suffers the same.




But of course, as a former administrator.... I just have to say it.

The first rule of network troubleshooting is.... check the cable(s).
