    Corsair and Marksmanship Skill

Alright, so friend of mine is taking up COR and she complains about getting nothing but Level Sync invites even with a /seacom of Level sync no thanks..so this got me interested in asking...

As I'm somewhat interested in leveling COR myself, how badly will it hurt to mostly level sync while starting fresh (e.g no native Marksmanship skill as RNG wasn't leveled yet) as COR? Compared to waiting hours to try to get a level appropriate party?

It may hurt, since CORs have piss poor options for ammo til 20, so using darts would probably benefit you more. I used a gun around 10ish and the damage/delay was horrible compared to just using a sword or dagger to fight with.

Best thing to do is if you have a job that can use marksmanship level it on them. I took a few bolts and skilled up on WAR.

I'm gonna suggest that you level RNG up as a sub before you start COR. Like Corrderio stated, you get no good bullets til 22, and dual wielding swords/daggers is still better til 30.

Having the Marksmanship skill from RNG is going to serve you well til 40-ish, and then you can just choose level sync parties around there. Just don't fall more than 4-5 levels behind on Marksmanship. It'll take another full party after that to re-cap it, if you spam bullets like I did. And @55 as COR/RNG you get to have the fun of Slug Shot, an you'll never sync below 55/56 again.

This won't apply to you immediately as you're just starting out, but it will later on.

The problem with level sync vs ranged attack jobs that I've noticed is that level sync effect is _brutal_ on out-of-level equip. You're going to want to keep two sets of ranged acc/ranged att equipment on you. One 'lowest common denominator' for the minimum level you're willing to sync to, and a second set for those times when you're lucky enough that the sync is equal to or above your real level.

I concur with leveling up markmenship via ranger since you need this for a subjob choice anyway. It's a good place to start from.

I just did cor and was bascially in the same spot you're in. I finihsed up my ranger to 37, but also had to spend quite a bit of time leveling marksmenship outside of xp. I did this on my drk, which got me to 200 in kuftal (sucked horribly though).

For the final push up to 250, I did the rest in a combination of merit pts and beseiged, which is the best place to skill up ever.

    Thiiiiiiiiiiis

I did a bunch of level sync parties and then I skilled marks on drk in kuftal. It wasn't THAT bad though, but I had a friend with me + skilling weapons at the same time. You do not want to have to skill on cor, the bullets and extra time it would take because of delay would wreck anyone.

actually, i did my marksmanship on cor pretty much only while xp'ing. this was before level sync though. i was a couple levels behind, but only like 2-3 at any given time. i think i got slugshot 1 level later than i should have if i was fully skilled up.
plus i popped 2 merits into marks (available due to having war levelled) really early, as soon as i was able to use a gun, and that really helped a lot with my acc (and thus, skillups)

I'm about 20-25 behind at 75 and want to /wrist. Well, at least I can always fall back on my marks merits, since having drk at 75 basically only has served me for meriting other jobs (ele/enf/marks/etc). I guess I can just bank on it getting capped from barrages in merits, except I think I've done 1 merit pt since I hit 75. My friends are such deadbeats!
