Mijin Gakure - Barfira: Placebo?

Mijin is a weird brand of damage. It is magic damage, as seen by its ability to land damage during Perfect Dodge and Invincible. However, it is not elemental, hence why barfira is of no use. Also, it can also normal land damage on Jailer of Temperence during all forms, nothing, bars, and rings.

As stated, PLDs /ja Fealty greatly reduces damage, as does Shell and -% Mag Dmg Down gear.

HP of the mob/player is the main modifier for damage dealt/taken. Somehow, Reacton Arm, and now Nagi "enhances" this effect, but how each piece effects it is unknown, as no one has Nagi yet, and Mijin is hard to test, let alone some modified version of it.

Good Luck convincing your shell, most won't listen, just like how some ppl still try to get a THF kill for the TH effect. GO GO PLACEBO

gallant's roll gives damage reflection. but it LOOKS like blaze spikes when it procs. but it isnt fire based damage. just like mijin.

Light and Dark elements (atleast the enemy kind, not the kind SMNs can summon) can cast all forms of white magic and black magic. So Light Element can cast stoneskin, while dark element can stun, drain, aspir etc

I find this interesting, feality states it enhances your enfeebling resistance, i wonder why this works on MIjin o_O

I'v gotten to the point of seriously wanting to KILL somone who STILL thinks this BS works.

I remember watching a bunch of retards try to THF kill kirin wasting 45 fucking minutes...this urks me to no end..some people just don't let go of superstition..

and i'v even had people actually get MAD AT ME for killing a mob the THF didn't get a kill shot on and blame me for it not dropping.. it will be the same with this MIjin really..it's not going to die.

The solution to this is finding out why Worm mobs (earth based) can cast bind which is suppossed to be a ice based spell...

The reason I ask is that I've never seen anything which demonstrates it isn't a straight MDB when a barspell is up. I have no fixed views on this but would just be interested.

That's the only reason I'd consider continuing to stick up a bar for Mijin as we all used to, if it were a straight MDB thing.

Because if my WHM dies because he ran in to put barfira up and wipes to the ensuing Mijin Gakure, I'm going to lose my mind. Placebo effect or not, it doesn't work, get the fuck back.

I've got capped bareffect merits. I cast Barfira. I cannot even remember the last time I died to a Mijin Gakure. Is it a placebo? (Probably.) The real question is "do I give a shit?" (No. I don't.) I can't think of any other way to provide any form of damage mitigation to my party (on WHM) for Mijin Gakure. Does it work? Is it miniscule if it does work? (Probably no and probably yes.) I keep Stoneskin up. If having Barfira up makes my party feel a little safer, then so be it. I don't give a shit and this topic has been beaten to fuck and back again.

Cast it or don't. It's 12 MP and if you're not fucking it up, you're not going to die on WHM.

When this topic came up regarding Hurricane Wing, the person who supplied data showing that Hurricane Wing was wind-based by casting bararea also tried barfira and didn't not receive the damage reduction.

If they told you they think the barfira wears off after 10 seconds would you cast barfira on them every 10 seconds? Either way, barfira has no effect on mijin, and barfira doesnt wear off every 10 seconds. Whether it makes your party feel warm and cuddly inside is really inconsqeuential... it doesnt have an effect.

This argument of, it's just 12 mp cast it anyway: How about I just cast Shellra 1 immediately after I cast Shellra V, every single time, it's only 18 mp what does it matter?
