Firefox randomly freezing for a few seconds

Yesterday my firefox was running pretty slow, but now it's randomly not responding every 30 seconds to a few minutes for a few seconds. It hasn't done it while type this or browsing BG at all, but I'm reading something in another tab and it'll lock up for a few seconds for no reason. Anyone know why this could be?

fyi it's only firefox that's being slow/freezing. I can alt tab to other programs.

do you know if you installed any addons recently?

try loading firefox from your start menu (there should be a safe mode version). carefully browse and see if it does it still, be aware that it is running barebones (no addons protecting you). if it works, you need to determine which plugin/addon is messing it up.

No recent addons. The last one I downloaded was noscript over a year ago.

I disabled a bunch of my plugins and my skype addon(completely forgot about it) seems to be working perfect now.
