    Beastman Hat Quests

I'm trying to get some people together to do the yagudo beastman hat quest (A Moral Manifest?) and I was wondering if anyone that has done this quest or any of the other 3 beastman hat quests can tell me if you need to fight the NM's once for each person that wants the hat or just one time and everyone can upgrade their hat without having to fight the NM's again. Any additional information anyone could give about the NM's is also appreciated (ex: approximately how much hp they have, do they all use 2hours, are they sleepable, etc etc).

Let me glom on to this topic and ask a specific tactical question (for the Orc side at least).

It's stated on the wiki that a ES sleepga will probably be resisted by two NMs. It says kiting is smart while you kill the Overlord and then they'll depop.

How feasible is it that a SCH/RDM could graviga and kite them? I intend on trying as soon as I convince my friend to lose some exp with me.

I did the yag one like 3 years ago when the quests were first added. We only killed it once and three people got the hat, I think. I know I got the hat. So I'm pretty sure you only need to kill it once for everyone.

I also remember getting our asses handed to us, and the only only way we won was because we had a SMN there to kite the NM. Really don't remember much else, just dying and kiting.

Another question I have is if I try this and fail, do I have to wait until JP midnight to get another key item or a vanadiel day or what.

If you're having a hard time getting a bunch of people together for this, you can duo it. I did it on RDM with my boyfriend on NIN.

The trick is to separate the Yagudo Avatar from the other mobs by making use of the zone. They'll all despawn eventually once they've been idling at the spawn point long enough. After one round of zoning, you should only have the SAM, NIN and Avatar in the tunnel. Keep zoning them until all the casters despawn (your partner should be able to tell you when). Then wait until the last three return to the spawn point and sleep the SAM and MNK. Zone the Avatar again to reset your hate, then you can start killing it when you zone back in.

It's susceptible to everything but sleep, although you can easily keep its elemental slept. Don't know its exact HP, but it took between 10-15 mins to melee it down. It will Astral Flow, so keep your HP up.

Not sure on the wait for a new key item if you fail though.

Thanks for the advice I think i'll try trioing it or four manning it tomorrow, but it seems like zoning until the mages despawn is pointless considering they all depop when the yagudo avatar is killed, unless they all auto link with each other regardless of distance? Could you confirm/deny that for me if you don't mind.

They won't automatically link with each other. They have to be within a certain distance, although I don't know exactly what that is. Seems to be bigger than the typical range of normal mobs.

Since we were only two people, I didn't feel like juggling keeping 3 things slept while my boyfriend worked on the main NM. The reason I kept zoning the SAM, MNK and Avatar was to keep them from getting close enough to the caster group to relink them and then reset their despawn timer. But you're right in that the other mobs will automatically despawn once the Avatar is dead. So if you have enough people to deal with a number of adds, you don't have to do it the same way I did it.
