I've been kinda snooping around at various gaming keyboards but before I bought one I wanted to see what BG had to recommend. I'm looking to spend about 70 bucks, I can go higher but I don't really want to.
So BG what have ya?

Trust me, you want to go over.
Or Newegg.com - Logitech G11 Silver & Black 104 Normal Keys 29 Function Keys USB Standard Gaming Keyboard - Keyboards if you don't mind not having a screen (double negatives <3)
Find the earlier version of the g51 the newer one feels ew compared to the older one and has more macro keys..
I've got this: Newegg.com - RAZER Lycosa Black 104 Normal Keys USB Wired Standard Gaming Keyboard - Keyboards
Got it mainly because its my favorite key layout and has no dedicated macro keys (the line of them to the left of control always fucks me up on the G15) - I just don't need those extra keys anyways. It's got plenty of cool features though without them: backlighting, USB+audio ports, every key is macroable if I wanted, the little touch screen at the top right for controlling media players and the keyboard's lights (I make more use of this than I thought I was going to). I also really love the feel of the keys and how they press down.. It's slim in profile, but the keys give way and bounce back quite a bit more making it like a hybrid between laptop style / traditional that I've grown to love.
G-11 here, old version, I love it.
I <3 my old model G15. I've had it for several years and still works great except the LCD backlight went out and Logitech can't fix it. :/
G11
G15 (first rev)
G18 (new, not out yet?)
Pick one.
Also, Saitek make nice keyboards.
I also quite like the response of the newer apple keyboards, but I wouldn't say that they're gaming keyboards, more like a comfortable typing keyboard.
The Razer Lycosa is a nice keyboard, but I'm not sure how attainable they are on your budget, I was always under the impression they were quite expensive (though you can get good deals on razer gear if you know where to look, my mouse only cost me £20 reduced from £75 I think)
Other than that, the Microsoft ergonomic ranges are nice, very afordable and come with decent warranties, but they don't glow blue or shoot fire or anything spiffy like that.
How about this?
Microsoft SideWinder X6 keyboard
Anyone has any ideas/reviews about this? And/or getting it to work like the G15?
I have the sidewinder X6. It's got more or less the same macro system as the G15 but doesn't look like an ugly mother and obviously no screen, the de-tachable numpad is pretty cool for lefties too or if you just don't use one.
I use the old (blue) g15, I suggest it.
I've spilt so much crap on it and it still works, I suggest not doing that though, since it is a fucking BITCH AND A HALF AND NOT WORTH taking apart to clean out lol.
I've been dying to get the new g15 with the orange, I don't have much reason to get it but I want it anyway.... they are really releasing a G18? I'll wait for that.
You need a G15/11, just get it, and join us.
edit: just looked up g19, a little too much for me lol. Although that g13 looks kinda neat, wonder if I'd make use of it.
Thanks for all the info! I've looked and I'm stuck between the G15 and this:

I'm leaning towards the 2nd one mainly because I don't really need the macro keys on the side and the LCD is mostly flare for me.
Can anyone argue for the 2nd one? I know I've heard good things about Razer but I've heard more about the G15 than I have this one. I don't really want to spend extra money for features I won't really use.
Also: If I do decide on the G15 where can I get one of the old ones? I'd like to try to get it newish if I can.
Razer products are sexeh, but if you buy that keyboard you'll want one of their mice! (That's a good thing, their mice are awesome)
If you don't think you'll use the G15's extra functions there isn't much point to getting one, most things that they're used for are gimicky anyways, such as ammo counters or for looking at leaderboards in FPS games etc., nothing you couldn't just press a key for and view on screen.
The razer keyboard looks a lot more cooler also, which is always a good reason to buy a product. Plus it's within your price range.
personally, i would just get this
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/ga.../5123&cl=us,en
and then get a cheap comfortable keyboard that i knew i would enjoy.
probably a stupid question so pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is it that makes the razor keyboards a "gaming" keyboard over anything else? i can understand the anti-ghosting on wasd (though why you'd ever need to hit more than 2 of those at the same time is beyond me). things like the re-programmable keyboard keys i should think would be able to be handled on any keyboard with a customized driver or even keymap. macro keys and a tiny LCD i fully understand, but i'm not sure i follow what defines something like the razer keyboard from any other 10 dollar keyboard.
I have that one. It's a nice keyboard overall, but has a kind of different feel to it due to the keys being flatter - more like a laptop keyboard or newer Apple keyboard feel I guess. Took a little getting used to for me.Thanks for all the info! I've looked and I'm stuck between the G15 and this:

I've had it flake out a few times with FFXI at least, like half the keys stop doing anything, have to unplug/replug it in for it to work again. Not sure if that's a problem with the keyboard specifically, or just FFXI, but I never had that specific thing happen with any other keyboard (getting stuck running forward, sure, has happened on basically every PC I've played FFXI on).
Also, you basically need to run with the lighting on if you want to see the lettering on the keys. Not a bad thing per se, but just something to be aware of.
It's a nice product, but I'm not sure I'd buy it again.
Macros are one of those things you don't think you need until you decide to use them on a whim, then you can't live without it. They save my butt in lots of different things, especially when you can record them on the fly.
I filled a set of those macros with typed commands in FFXI for some events where I wanted to have hipots and other meds on hand for emergency use, was faster than trying to get them used via options menu and I didn't have the macro space in-game for them. If you play a game like WoW or really any game with customizable keybinds, having a set of easily accessible keys that you can quickly identify by touch outside of the ones immediately surrounding WASD is a godsend.
At this point I think I might go with the razer because it appeals more to me ascetically and it doesn't have all the extra features that I don't think I would ever use since I'm not into gimicky ammo counters and crap like that. I don't really want to spend the extra 10-20 bucks if I don't have to and 10-20 bucks for stuff like that doesn't really appeal to me.
In terms of a mouse I was going to get one of these for free from the windows club live:
Newegg.com - Microsoft 9VV-00001 Black 7 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Laser Habu Gaming Mouse - Mouse
Logitech G5 or G9 Mice are amazing, don't buy anything else. If you are looking at other things make sure to keep it to Wired Laser only, do not get wireless.
idk, I've tried so many diff keyboards/mice after getting my G15+G5 setup I'll never buy anything again except newer models of said devices. Everything else is retarded to me after playing on them for so long, and I don't use most of my macro keys.
