I don't really want to spend the extra 10-20 bucks if I don't have to and 10-20 bucks for stuff like that doesn't really appeal to me.

In terms of a mouse I was going to get one of these for free from the windows club live:
Newegg.com - Microsoft 9VV-00001 Black 7 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Laser Habu Gaming Mouse - Mouse
Then you'll have the same combo as me. I do love the design of the mouse - its one of the main reasons I got it... its like a slightly more ergonomic version of the Microsoft optical I used for years. It matches the keyboard well and its got plenty of options in the software. It doesn't have a ton of buttons like some of the competitors (its got the standard 2 + 2 on the side, and 2 beneath the mousewheel), but like the Lycosa, you can mess with any button you want. You can set them to do common commands (copy, paste, find, print, save, etc), some windows commands (run, show desktop, etc), control media files, or set up your own multiple button macros.

I do wish it were a bit easier to turn the light on and off (you can do it in the software that comes with it, but its not nearly as easy as the keyboard's one touch switch). Also my particular mouse seems to occasionally get this problem where it will double/triple click when I press the button only once. It's probably just my mouse, but it can be annoying because when it starts to happen, it keeps on happening. Its like it becomes misaligned or something. Other than that, its a pretty good mouse.

edit: I should also point out, this thing is crazy sensitive to anything in the way. If a small hair gets lodged in that hole where the laser comes out, it will screw up the way the mouse moves. Its ridiculously easy to fix if you know that - for me at least, nothing has never gotten lodged very far in there, I can pick it out easily with my fingers, but it might seem like the mouse is bugging out if you don't know what's causing it (when it first happened to me, I spent like 2 hours trying to figure out what was wrong with it and was almost ready to RMA it before I looked underneath lol).

Instead of creating a new thread, I figure my question is close enough.

I am looking for a blue tooth keyboard and mouse combination for gaming and general stuff. Any experiences with them?

Speaking of mice, Steelseries came out with that world of warcraft mouse. Check out their website. It's expensive, but it has a lot of nice features. if anyone picked it up, has it, or is getting it, PLEASE PLEASE review it here as I want to upgrade my G5 soon.

Thanks for the advice! And thanks to everyone I think I'm really going to be happy with my combo. I'll make sure that I make a post here if the thread is still alive when I get my stuff!

Site says it's available at Best Buy...I'm getting fed up with my G7 wireless, keeps dropping commands or multi-clicking things, getting annoying. If I can get to Best Buy and get a feel for this thing I might just get it, been wishing for some mouse macroing for some of my more on-demand abilities (and to spread out certain other ones...I keep reaching for things like Berserk and Barkskin and hitting War Stomp by mistake when tanking a boss >_>! I somehow haven't died from it yet).

Logitech G5 or G9 Mice are amazing, don't buy anything else. If you are looking at other things make sure to keep it to Wired Laser only, do not get wireless.

    How about the Optimus?

Just kidding, although, if it weren't for that steep price tag, I'd get it.

I'm between buying either the G11 or the G15, but I'm just wondering about the G15 LCD apps. Past the Vana'diel timer/clock, I've not been able to find any other FFXI apps for the G15. G15 users, what apps do you currently use?

No mention here at all of the Ideazon Merc Stealth?

Newegg.com - Ideazon Merc Stealth Illuminated Gaming Keyboard- ZXP-2000 Black USB Wired Ergonomics - Keyboards

I have one and love it. I find the gamepad to be very useful, and you can record macros with it as well. Macro functionality isn't as robust as G11/15, but key layout is fantastic, especially for shooters.

Edit: Think it's one of those love it/hate it things. I run XP Pro 32bit, software works fine, haven't had any build quality issues, and I don't do much productivity on the gaming rig. The ergonomics are great for long stretches of gaming, but I could see it sucking if you do a lot of real work on the PC.

Hmm, I never knew until the G13 gameboard until now. Looks pretty cool. Maybe that won't make having a new series G15 so terrible for someone who has it.

But yeah... love the Logitech G-series:

    PC1 has a G15 (rev1) and a G5.
    PC2 has a G11 and an LX8 (couldn't find any G7s D::::.

I havent bought any toys lately, and nothing is wrong with my gen1 G15 so I've been dying to get the gen2 one. The 19 is too much for me to get when I wouldn't use 90% of the features. I tried using tons of shit in BF2142 and it just got out of hand. All I use now is the G12key for ventrilo push to talk, g11 to mount in wow, g10 for gas clouds, g9 for a 2nd vent, and g1-5 for druid shapeshift.

I really can't find a reason to upgrade to a new 15 other than to just have a new keyboard, the G13 looks awesome but idk if I'd make any use of that either. NEED NEW TOYS! I think i'll be using more keybinds int he future though, since i'm starting to make a lot of macros for arena.

I felt that I needed to respond to this thread as i have -both- keyboards being mentioned.

I have been using the 1st gen blue G-15 keyboard on my main PC for YEARS now and absolutely love everything about it. For FFXI it is great. I have gear change macros bound to the additional keys and when I dualbox, I have the keys send commands to my other character without the need to alt-tab. This saves quite a few of my macro buttons. The on-keyboard screen is also great for the timer on it. When I camp NM's i'll start the counter so I can keep track of how long I have been in the area and use the stopwatch to time placeholder spawns. The keyboard is also built solid as hell. I have been using mine for close to 5 years and not even a light out or stuck key. I can't give the G-15 enough of a gaming recommendation.

I purchased a Razor Lycosa keyboard for my second computer. I mainly did this after purchasing a Deathadder mouse and falling in love with it (best mouse in existance, the lachesis was just too long which made it uncomfortable). The Lycosa keyboard is a DREAM to type on. I love writing papers, emails, etc on the keyboard. The short-throw keys make it a bit faster to type on. Imagine a full sized and much better built laptop keyboard. The keys have the same surface as the high-end mouses and just feel good. This all being said I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE playing ffxi on this keyboard. The button for the entire keyboard backlighting is about 1/4" away from the - key to bring up the menu. I am CONSTANTLY turning off my keyboard lights, which on this keyboard means there are no labels for your keys. There is no way to disable this, believe me I tried.

Hands down, the Logitech G13/15/etc are the way to go.

You are definitely right about typing on it, it feels better than any other keyboard I've typed on.

For FFXI I can see the benefit of a keyboard with extra macro keys like the G15, but since I quit I'm quite happy with my Lycosa. And I definitely would have made use of the on-keyboard screen. When I did play ffxi though, I definitely would have at least liked this Lycosa a lot more than the $15 cheapo I had.

I've also never really had the problem with the light button, but I guess I don't hit "-" or use the numpad as much or the same way after FFXI.

Anyways, its all up to what you want in a keyboard. They each have their strengths.

While we're on the subject of keyboards with LCDs, are there any FFXI-related LCD applets out there to display stuff on the LCD?

The only keyboards you need are contained within:

    Full size:
    Customizer 101 White

    Space saver:
    SpaceSaver

Or if you can find any of the originals in good shape (some may be on ClickyKeyboards)

If you play FFXI, you need a first-gen G15 or a G11. Makes macroing so much more convenient.

Alright, TigerDirect is running a sale on the G15 for $65.00 with a couple rebates but it's on the 2007 version. I know you guys are saying the old version is better but I just want to check, what is the difference between the new version and the old version? I don't really want to sound like a dick but some haste would be liked the sale ends tomorrow so I'm in a bit of a rush xDD
