Horror research (I'm lazy)
As the title says, I'm very lazy, and figured instead of researching my target market at school (that is, researching what makes a good horror film and what the general consensus is on what makes a scary film) I figured I'd make a post asking a few general questions, looking for some responses.
Anything you wish to add above and beyond these few questions would be greatly appreciated, as it only helps me with more research!
Off the top of your head, are there any horror/thriller films you can remember?
Be it a particular scene or that the entire movie had you hidden behind a cushion.
Are there any cliches that you think make a horror film more or less enjoyable to watch?
Are there moments when the 4th wall is broken and you realise you're watching a film, thus ruining any attempts previously made to build suspense and tension?
Do you think budget horror films can be done well enough to rival that of a major release?
Could you name a few effective low budget films you have seen that have scared the bjebus out of you?
How long do you feel is too long to build tension?
Thanks for any and all opinions in advance, I look forward to seeing what you guys think!
