I have a bunch of extra HDMI cables so it didn't really matter to me lol. The regular 360 and the elite come with component I think.

To expand on "no", if you install the POL disc to the HDD, you need to keep the disc in the drive for validation purposes, but it will run POL from the HDD and won't spin up the disc, keeping the noise levels *much* lower.
