One campus right on the lake, one campus downtown in the Gold Coast near Water Tower.

But, like another poster put it, most of my nights are spent here:

Our new addition to the library. The front and back walls are all glass and it overlooks the lake on the other side. Really hard to get any studying done when you're watch the waves...

Aw yeah, Palm Beach Community College representin'.

Looks a lot different than when I went there, though. They completely renovated the place. It used to be a lot more bland, with brown and tan paint, and very sparse landscaping.

I actually wanted to go away for school, but this cut costs in half, so I stayed home. Still a great campus though.

Constantly rated top small University in Canada, and one of the few with my program. Bonus of being in the city I grew up in.

Actually TUJ isn't that bad for costs. It's about 11k a semester, or thats what they tell you to budget for. That includes food/travel/housing etc.

    This fall.

After room board books tuition etc its about 38k a year, but they have some of the best computer programs in the nation. My FAFSA is taking off over 30k (that includes federal loans of about 10k) Hoping that all of the scholarships I've applied for will pay off, no way of knowing yet.

like the last 15-20 years or so? We dominate all the math/sci/engineering fields in undergrad and leave the liberal arts bullshit to the others (and the sports too QQ).

As far as grad. school goes, it's not even close (same exceptions as above).

how does any school dominate undergrad...
what makes schools good is the level of professors and research opportunities, not bullshit stats college magazine uses for rankings

lol @ liberal arts being bullshit as well. this coming from a math major

I'm majoring in classical studies and math, so I'm pretty sure I can call my degree in Greek and Latin bullshit, but I do it because I like it. It's not going to pay the bills though. That's what the math is for.

And UCSD, if you look at college rankings is pretty low, but the sheer amount of talent in the research labs is ridiculous, which is what I based my assessment on. There's a great article floating around somewhere about institutions that get the most citations, top3 is Harvard, MIT, UCSD.

My PI is a pioneering researcher in glycobiology, the guy basically made the field. And the same is true for about every lab here. UCSD's a graduate/post-grad research facility masquerading as an undergraduate institution. Student life might be a bit dull till you're 21, but you can't beat the opportunities.

Not if you are in UC Berkeley, in that case, you will be just fitting in nicely.

I heard about how Stanford will get you private tutors if your grades fall below B? Any merit to that claim?

University of Utrecht, Netherlands, if you're planning to go abroad for whatever reason. Best university over here, pretty high up in worldwide rankings. Cheap, too, due to socialist government shenanigans, though I'm unsure if that goes for outside-of-EU people.

I never took any of those in college, and I got by just fine.

Actually, that's not true, I did take one art class. Engineering majors at my university require less padding than other majors, so I only needed the one class to fulfill the requirement.

Now that I think about it, I may have taken Drama my junior year, for the same reasons. But other than one art and one drama class, the rest were classes relevant to engineering.

I've received two degrees from the University of North Carolina, and will be starting my third program in the fall.

UNC is routinely ranked in the top 30 overall universities, and top 10 public universities in the country (generally in the top 5).
National Universities Rankings - Best Colleges - Education - US News and World Report
Best Colleges - Education - US News and World Report

UNC is annually rated as the "Best Education Value" in the United States and recognized as one of the best values in all of higher education.
UNC Chapel Hill tops ‘best value’ list - Charlotte Business Journal:
Best Colleges - Education - US News and World Report

    Other great UNC aspects:
The ratio of girls to guys is 60%/40%
The university is regarded as the most liberal Southern university (no hick rednecks)
We share resources with two other area universities - dook and NC State, both solid schools.
We are in the middle of the Research Triangle Park - one of the FASTEST growing regions in the country, both in terms of business and young people. Great opportunities for jobs after school.

We have one of the best athletic departments in the country. Last year:
-- our men's basketball team made it to the Final Four
-- our women's soccer and field hockey teams won the national title
-- men's soccer made it to the national title game
-- baseball made it to the final 3 in Omaha
-- Our football team, under Butch Davis, made it's first bowl game in several years, and brought in the #5 ranked recruiting class in the nation

Also, we have one of the best rivalries in all of sports with a university down the road - the shithead dookies.

If you'd like more info, shoot me a PM.

My grades never dipped that low so I can't speak to it personally, but each department is pretty independent so if you're failing out of your classes they tend to care at that level of granularity. There is an on-campus tutoring facility but I don't think you have to be a bad student to go there.
