    Favorite Metal Bands/Songs

Any kind of metal applies here; heavy, death, hair, glam, etc.

Best metal band ever imo is Iron Maiden, name me one other band that played a group of 400,000.

    Then I enjoy me some
    Evergreen Terrace
    Bullet For My Valentince
    Devil Wears Prada
    and Lamb of God

I have been on a chiodos kick for a bit But I was a fan of shadows fall for the first 3 albums. Actually any band from Massachusetts pretty much rocks, Killswitch engage, Converge, Blood For Blood, The Acacia Strain, All That Remains. There's more but those stand out right now.

Megadeth. Used to be a huge Metallica fan until St. Anger and the some kind of monster video, then i lost all respect for the pussbags. Once i saw James and Lars get close to almost making out over each other i did a Peter Griffon style, throw hands in the air, and proclaim "done!".

    Megadeth just sounds badass.

Death Magnetic made up for a lot of shit, IMO - I thought it was a very, very excellent album, and the best they've done since the Black Album... not that that's saying much, considering their history.

    Anyway, yeah. Metallica! :D

Also fan of Iron Maiden and Ozzy Osbourne, though lately the latter has been too BLARGHLBLEHYUCK for my taste. I wish he'd made something good again.

Black Label Society! I wanna crawl into Zakk Wylde's beard and make little cave for myself.

Hmm, in the past week or so, for metal albums in rotation... Iron Maiden - Powerslave, Morbid Angel - Blessed are the Sick, Suffocation - Pierced From Within, Slayer - Hell Awaits

I'm sure I'm leaving a bunch out, completely fried after studying all night D:

That fest was a hell of a lot more enjoyable before they started tacking on the hardcore part. Last time I went, I think was 2005 for one night (King Diamond and Nile iirc). I dunno, as I've grown older I really have no patience left for the oversold wall-to-wall crowding, 20 minute sets, lack of re-entry, etc. etc.

That being said, if you're interested in going, I'd be sure to check out Friday night. Suffocation and Napalm Death are both amazing live bands, and I'm guessing they should both get at least 30 minutes. Can't see anything else the whole weekend that interests me personally, though.

also, how could you rattle off the list of MA hardcore bands, and leave out Overcast?! especially after mentioning both SF and KSE... for shame!

Are you mainly asking for straight metal or cross-genre variations of it (metalcore, etc)?

lol... I had a feeling I would hae gotten shizz for overcast. As for the Metalfest they used to have a lot of hardcore in the past. Hell the first 2 years I went to was actually chock full of hardcore bands, Chimaira(when mark still had his dreadlocks), Dillenger escape plan/w Dimitri, diecast, blood for blood, Hatebreed ( picking fights with Isis) Machine head and Sick of it all.. was actually more hardcore back then then the metalcore stuff we have now.

I think the first fest I went to was back in 99 I was about 17 and just started breaking into the metal/hardcore scene.. Being Puerto rican from mass means you're stereo-typed into being a hip-hop/thug dude. And funny thing is.. TooL was what got me listening to the stuff.

yeah the pure hardcore element seems to be almost non-existent now (either that or the actual hardcore bands are all newer ones i dont know). as for the earlier fests, i dunno, maybe its selective memory on my part, i dont remember there being much of a hardcore element at all. maybe they all got stuffed upstairs?

first one i went to was either '99 or 2000, only band i can really remember seeing now is amorphis, which leads me to believe it was '99 as they would've been touring in support of tuonela around that time. i wanna say hatebreed picking a fight sounds familiar, but that could've been just about any show they've played anywhere ever, haha.

Blut Aus Nord - Disciples libration (lost in the nine words)

Quite an amazing turnaround after the mostly lackluster Odinist, Memoria Vetusta II is definitely my top pick for 2009 thus far.
