and yes, I'm measuring the worth of a system by jRPGs, because I'm an asshole on a forum that only likes certain types of games

also there's a lot of games in that picture that are just old, old concepts that are redone... there's not a lot of new things in gaming now a days, and playing the same exact gameplay with different story/graphics/sound isn't exactly that appealing to someone that plays games for the game part of it only.

I'm not going to bother to find 3 jRPGs that meet your criteria. You shouldn't be saying the system is not worth it based on the number of games when you yourself limit the types of games you play so severely. You don't know what kind of games OP would like, and you don't even say something like "If you like jRPGs, PSP might not be for you". Can't really do that with alot of the support abilities and stuff, but for moves that's all I did. Game is definitely easily playable without any Japanese knowledge. Only thing is you won't have a clue what to farm for when trying to make high level items.

This is what I meant but yeah obviously the base elements of the game don't need any kind of explanation since the standard mechanics are pretty simple.

Oh yeah, and another game I forgot to mention, Disgaea.

Paired up with Edge card, it's 30% off altogether which doesnt seem too bad. I was thinking about getting FFT, FFI, and Megaman Maverick Hunter or maybe Megaman Powered Up. I havent heard much about the FFI or II remakes for PSP. How are they if anyone has played them?

FFT is excusable--maybe, maybe Rockman Rockman is too... but seriously, get something else instead of FF1, you probably will barely touch it

If you are really into RPG style action, go for Monster Hunter 2. It takes a while to get into if it's your first time playing the series, but once I encountered my first wyvern, I was hooked.

I can't believe no one mentioned Prinny: Can I really be the Hero?. Excellent game, plenty of replay when the hard mode isn't making you want to pitch your PSP.

I was gonna pick up Monster Hunter Freedom 2, but what with Monster Hunter Unite finally getting a solid release date, I think I'm just going to wait for that to come out.

I haven't gotten through much of Megaman Powered Up but remake is definately not the term for it, since you can play as all the bosses, there's Oil Man and Time Man (Time Man kinda sucks though), the level creator and a shitton of unlockables.

Maverick Hunter X has been a blast, they really improved the game a lot. You can also do the whole game without any armor parts, which adds up to the difficulty if you want. Vile is also a ton of fun to play as, but you'll definately want to be Storm Eagle or Chill Penguin for Speed Devil or Frozen Castle respectively (Speed Up / Double defense). You'll really want Frozen Castle cause Vile takes damage like a bitch.

Also, good luck trying to beat Spark Mandrill without feet parts. I needed two subtanks to do it. On Normal. Also, the Day of Sigma movie is jawesome.

Edit: Also for some reason the game doesn't detect dash jumping off of a wall very well. I have no idea why, but like 70% of the time I try to do a standard dash jump from a wall it ends up being a regular jump. Probably my only complaint of the game.

If Capcom had thrown the same kind of support/addons/levels that they did with Rockman Rockman in Japan for us, I'd definitely be singing a different tune.

Fuck year, the only reason I really wanted a PSP in the first place was for Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X. Of course, back then I decided to go with DS instead of PSP.

But man, Maverick Hunter X in particular is a ton of fun. I liked how the voice actors were the same as Megaman X8's, which definately has the best voices for the X series.

And don't forget, Japan always gets a shitton more stuff than NA in terms of addons and stuff like that, at least from Japanese companies, so its not like Capcom is the only one who suffers this sort of thing.

I went ahead and picked up those 3 games. I havent played any FF before VI so i'm interested in seeing how the whole series started out and i've never played tactics either. I'm really looking forward to Maverick Hunter when I get to it. I still have to beat Crisis Core and i've hardly even started it. It was pretty sweet though, all 3 of those games cost me 31 bucks altogether. Also, one of my friends brother is a manager at a GS and he told me that April 5th they are doing something to where new games are up to 50% off. Game Day sale I believe he called it. Idk what systems or any of the details are but he said if I wanted to get some new games for cheap, be there when doors open.

At first I thought you were talking about the 3rd edition to the series coming out for the Wii (below). Best part about Freedom Unite is the ad-hoc connection (I think MH:F2 was LAN?) Sadly the date is not until December, although I have an additional gift request now. Having AI companion Felynes doesn't sound bad either.

Monster Hunter 3 for the Wii (PS3?) got a release date for Japan that I found somewhere in the Fall of 2009.

Speaking of Monster Hunter on Wii, if they don't fuck up controller input, I can see the game being VERY successful. Hopefully it would be a little more dynamic than Zelda (considering all the combos available for every weapon - hopefully more). I wish NA had a more positive reception of Monster Hunter.

Me too! I was hooked on 2 and 2G for the PSP. I keep saying i am going to DL Ad-Hoc Party for the PS3 and get back into it, but i haven't yet. Unite will be nice, even though i have pretty much done just about all there is to do on 2G.

If 3 hits over here on the Wii, and the controls LOOK as good as they did in the last trailer a few months back then i will dust off the Wii for sure.

Ad-hoc party uses the PS3 as a bridge to create a sort of global ad-hoc network, they pretty much designed it for use with Monster Hunter Portable, and they're supposed to release it on the PSN when MHU comes out. It's still just creating an ad-hoc network, minus the need to be near the other person's PSP.

MH3 is also going to be a paid subscription game, but I suppose that's better than using friend codes and Nintendo's servers anyhow.

Is it a paid subscription to Capcom or Nintendo? I'm not very pleased by that at all, seeing as it probably won't be an MMORPG (I don't think?). I haven't really found any info on the web except some trailers and release dates in Japan.

Worth keeping an eye on for anyone with a PSP and the desire to play games via Ad Hoc Multiplayer that don't want to go the Xlink Kai way.

Still in Beta in Japan, and... it WOULD be nice if they launch a Beta here before Unite hits... sheesh.

I made a thread about playing MH2ndG ad-hoc via PS3 but, yeah, not a lot of fans here. If anyone wants to do some quests let me know. I'd love to try H9 "Anger of Heaven and Earth," but I'm open for w/e.
