The only way William will become King next is if Charles abdicates the throne when the Queen dies. Otherwise it will go to Charles as the Prince of Whales and heir apparent.

The Commonwealth members will have to decide if they want him. According to Thecommonwealth.org :
"When the Queen dies or if she abdicates, her heir will not automatically become Head of the Commonwealth. It will be up to the Commonwealth heads of government to decide what they want to do about this symbolic role."
You might want to add immigrants in there as well. Toronto has the highest amount of immigrants in the world, apparently. I am white and am seriously a minority EVERYWHERE I go. Not trying to be racist here but goddamn, I miss whiteyland where I grew up, up north more.
In regards to the topic question, I have no idea. I guess that shows how much influence she has here, if any. I think its just an old tradition that some of our members of parliament have some connection with the Queen. Other than that, I wish I could call myself an American. Quebec wanted to leave, I say good riddance. It would remove all the French words off the back of our products. Its so weird going to the states and seeing everything in one language. Its kind of.... nice.
If he only wants one language on signs, come to Burnaby or Surrey. Both cities only have one language, but it's not English or French!
Living out in BC I find it almost silly that French must be on everything and all the government forms, whereas information in Cantonese, Hindi, or Punjabi would be much, much more helpful to new Canadians.
But if new immigrants could figure out Canadian bureaucracy how would immigration service organizations make money?
Sarcasm aside I highly doubt you will ever see many Canadian government forms offered in alternative languages as so many people in Canada would view it as the government giving new immigrants special treatment when immigrants should be learning to speak our language. Canadians can be oddly racist about the weirdest things.
Ahh I love discussions about Canada XD
I don't really have much to add except to repeat that the GG actually does have some say in what happens, as mentioned above when it came to Harper wanting to suspend parliament. I thought it was a pretty dumb decision, personally. It just seems to be dragging on the inevitable. I can't stand Harper...
we celebrate her birthday as a national holiday but hey, we also celebrate jesus's
long story short we're a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, the key word being constitutional, not monarchy as she signs off on things she's told to, she has no real power and is even more of a figurehead here than she is in the UK
