    Port Forwarding working?

How do I know if my portforwarding is working? I'm new to it, decided to forward wow and utorrent even though I don't use utorrent much at all.

I followed all the instructions on portforward.com and im still connected to the internet, I think I did everything right, forwarded the correct ports.

But when i downloaded the PFPortChecker it says that they aren't open. even when I turn my firewall off.

How do I know it's working, and how do i know I set it up right? My router is only a few months old, its a WRT160N.

The only time you should have to use port forwarding is if the router is blocking the requests. If you can use your programs, then your setup is working. If you can't, it's not. Easiest way to tell.

Honestly the only things I've ever had to use port forwarding for is Vonage and my Server (HTTP/FTP/Mail/DNS/etc). Most of the time you won't need it for just programs. If you try to run a program and it fails to connect, even though your computer firewall isn't blocking it, then you can go setup port forwarding, or if you only want a certain computer on your network to have it... but in the latter case, that computer needs a static IP unless you want to change it every time you renew DHCP leases.

I forwarded World of warcraft cause I was having some problems (most likely comcast) but I was just being safe, and the utorrent thing I only did to find out if I did it right.
