Firefox Plugins > any browser, no matter how much better rendering or speed it offers.

I agree but see below (pretty good read)

During a contest at the CanSecWest event, security researchers competed to exploit vulnerabilities in web browsers. Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer were all successfully compromised, but Chrome was able to withstand the first day of the competition.

Why do people have to be so obnoxious about anyone using IE? I don't use it personally but who cares, you don't have to force browsers down IE users throats if they don't want to. Choice exists for a reason.

From my use, I like the look/feel of Firefox best. I feel like Chrome is the fastest. And I still need IE to view some streams that don't work in other browsers.

I wish chrome could use plugins like firefox, then I would certainly use it for most everything. Not having noscript though, I hardly ever use it

Tried it out when it was released the other day, and I'm thoroughly unimpressed. For all their claims of it being the "fastest web browser", I found it to be slow and annoying. There's a noticeable lag (and loading!) when you open a new tab page, the browser actually freezes for a split second. I didn't take out the stopwatch, but it seemed to load sites about the same speed as Firefox. It slowed down a bit on JS-heavy sites, again despite their claims of being faster than everyone else.

Web Slices are bland and seem useless even on the sites that DO support them, which are and will continue to be rare. There's already a FF plugin out that offers BETTER functionality than the Web Slices that MS offers, including compatibility. Accelerators are alright, but not really much different from what I can do in FF even without the plugin that does the exact same thing (with IE8 Accelerator compatibility coming in the next release). Same for the new tab page (plugin for FF in dev phases), same for the new tab button (already in FF beta), same for the address bar search (same functionality in FF beta), same for private browsing mode (same functionality in FF beta), same for virtually everything else they tout as "new and improved". Any compelling feature they add to IE8 can be easily duplicated in FF thanks to the powerful addon infrastructure, whereas making addons for IE is much less accessible and seems to be used more for making adware toolbars than actual useful addons.

It's certainly an improvement over IE7, but that's largely because IE7 was way behind every other major browser. IE8 still lags behind on available features, because they seem to be more interested in adding features that content creators can control rather than actually letting the users take control of their web browser. Web Slices and Accelerators both follow that model - they're ways for websites to present their content, not ways for you to fundamentally change how your browser works for the better.

Just making sure people are informed before compromised accounts, etc.

You can be the savviest computer user in the world and be fucked over using IE/FF/Safari (people tend to have MASSIVE egos just because they don't click on the dancing stripper on the pole or wtfever banners are out now).

There's a reason people preach FF+NoScript+AdBlock, and after all this time there is no other popular browser which has duplicated that trifecta. Amazing, really. IE8 I guess has potential to be the second, it's just humorous that Microsoft has no choice but to integrate (or allow and encourage) technology that will block it's own ActiveX just to make it safe.
