The conversation started off with him telling him "Greetings shinsei of blablabla"
Then he starts telling me that he brought me here over a trade dispute over 50,400.

The currency I've been buying recently is for My LS's funded Relic for one of our members Gjallarhorn, since it's using the bank, I keep records of all the purchase made with by the bank. So when he said the 50,400 I figured it was about the Opieces since its the only transaction with the bank made with that figure.

case in point, copy and paste

    Currency
    -1,308,000 - 109 Opieces
    -8,904,000 - 742 Opieces
    -276,000 - 23 Opeices
    -50,400 - 4 Opeices
    -60,000 - 5 Opieces
    -120,000 - 10 Opieces
    -108,000 - 9 Opieces
    -9,600,000 - 8 Msilvers
    -1,188,000 - 99 Opieces

So yea, as soon as he mentioned the figure, I looked it up and then I asked if it was about those.

And to the other that asked.

I asked him if he could kindly return me to VoS since I was in the middle of on Aspid Camp. Then he told me he couldn't. So I asked him what if I was the tank, what would happen?

His response was "Then I'm afraid your friends will die^^"
GM warped me out while I was tanking Tiamat before for joking around in say with friends in another LS.

After I bitched at him enough he put me right back in front of Tiamat. Good times.

If the GM did nothing, people would bitch that GMs let players steal gil/back out of agreements. Now that the GM did something, people are bitching about the way it was handled. If the GM sent a tell and handled it in a "decent" manner, people would bitch that it only works for JP. See the pattern?

After it all went down and I sat and thought about it, that's what I thought may have happened from his perspective. Even still, God forbid for any reason the GM acted on my account over something like that, I would have been really pissed. Honestly he could have just tried reaching me at a later time informing me of the mistake, I'd be glad to rectify it. I probably wouldn't knock him for placing a GM call if it was like a mil or more though.

Meh, it's in the past, I had to rant at least a tad bit. Though the error was in my part, I just thought GM'ing someone over 50k was a little bit too much, especially if the GM had decided to act on my account over that lol....just my opinion

i think its more he dragged his account from VoS took him to "jail" when he asked can you put me back where i was he said no and the laughed about how his ls might all be slaughted

now as long as the op hasn't covered anything "misleading" up, he seemed very much so polite and willing to just get it sorted

It's not like it would have been hard for the GM to handle it all in VoS anyway.

The GM could have put you back in VoS but he just chose not to.

Did you know that GMs can't really tell you who obtained something in dynamis if somebody ninja lotted something? Some guy ninja lotted an ore in one of our dyna's and we tried to see what happened with it but we couldnt. Even though everyone there could have seen what happened with it the GM still couldnt let us see who recieved it. Called a senior GM and everything. :<

Does this mean if someone buys an item, like a K-Club, when someone has brag posted it for 1gil on the AH and refuses to return it can be jailed?

Think about it for a minute. Yea, Shin agreed to the total of 50,400. However, when the trade window is open, both people have to agree to the traded items/gil, which legally would mean the JP technically accepted the price of 5040. If you go into best buy and go to pay for a $3000 TV and only hand the cashier $20 and he accepts it and hands you the receipt, the TV is yours.

That makes logical sense, but again the GM's in FFXI usually don't.

Thats not how the law works, at least in the US.

Errors in enacting a contract are correctable when the verbal agreement was clearly different and the actions were clearly an error.

People were bitching before that was mentioned, so I don't believe that at all.

The conversation stops here. If you make an agreement, then follow it up accordingly. The JP could have also though he received 50,400 gil during the initial transaction and not noticed it was only 5,400 gil (Or w/e amount was paid) until he checked later. What you're suggesting is that people who get away with certain actions should be immune to intervention by GMs.

When i bought my 360 i was meant to pay like $700 and got a big deal on games. I got charged only $300 instead. There is no law allowing the company to take the item back from my as was the owner of that item. They could choose to not sell things to me in the future, but they where not allowed to get the item back. If you make a mistake you should have to take the losses.

I'm mad that he took so much action for a JP -- I'd be worried about a strike on your account.

ANd the saying "I'm sure you both would have been easier if you both spoke JP." or whatever was said.

Um. What about "the same language" or "english" Why did it have to be JP?

THAT conversation right there is proof they cater more to JP players.

Or it could have meant that it would have been easier if both parties spoke the same language or Japanese as the guy who reported it WAS Japanese. If you want to nitpick it down to a simple "It would have been easier if you both spoke Japanese" then you can nitpick every company in history only caring for their home region by them making announcements in their native languages.

To be honest, this to be sounds like a very valid reason to call a GM on someone. The GM said himself that he wasn't going to take any major action on your account... so it's not like you got penalized. All that really happened was that you got sent to Mordion Gaol and that was the end of it, after you traded the gil you owed.

Even though its valid, it could've easily been taken care of using auto-translate though, and its a shame he didn't even try to attempt to contact you first before calling a GM.
