Well, first off do you even know what legally qualifies as an assault weapon? It's pretty broad, I'd say ludicrously broad.
Second, The State of California is still under the federal assault weapons ban of the Clinton administration. Those weapons cannot be legally made or sold in California. This means either one of two things:
1) His assault weapon was purchased prior to 1994 or
2) His assault weapon was purchased ILLEGALLY.
Given his extensive criminal record, I'd guess the latter.
Furthermore, the definition of assault weapon is laughable. My father has a .44 magnum lever action rifle that qualifies as an assault weapon due to it's ammo capacity, and it doesn't even have a detachable magazine. Seriously, a lever action rifle can be labeled an assault weapon. It's not even close to being semi-automatic.
It's nice to get behind a cause, but really a lot of people should read up on things. You know the media is sensationalist, and you should be wary of everything they say, especially if it's a broad or vague term like "assault weapon".
That and the fact you can pretty much make an ak-47 from scratch in a machine shop...
OH noes not mah gunz.
You quote me yet you do not read what I posted. AR as in Assault Rifles Like the AR-15, AK-47's and the TEC 9's.
Also what the fuck do you need Clips that extend over the edge of a the grip for on Handguns?
lets break it down.
By former U.S. law the legal term assault weapon included certain specific semi-automatic firearm models by name (e.g., Colt AR-15, TEC-9, all non-automatic AK-47s, and Uzis) and other semi-automatic firearms because they possess a minimum set of features from the following list of features:
A semi-automatic AK-47 rifle.
An Intratec TEC-DC9 with 32-round magazine; a semi-automatic pistol formerly classified as an Assault Weapon under Federal Law.
Semi-automatic rifles able to accept detachable magazines and two or more of the following:
* Folding or telescoping stock
* Pistol grip
* Bayonet mount
* Flash suppressor, or threaded barrel designed to accommodate one
* Grenade launcher (more precisely, a muzzle device which enables the launching or firing of rifle grenades)
Semi-automatic pistols with detachable magazines and two or more of the following:
* Magazine that attaches outside the pistol grip
* Threaded barrel to attach barrel extender, flash suppressor, handgrip, or suppressor
* Barrel shroud that can be used as a hand-hold
* Unloaded weight of 50 oz (1.4 kg) or more
* A semi-automatic version of an automatic firearm
Semi-automatic shotguns with two or more of the following:
* Folding or telescoping stock
* Pistol grip
* Fixed capacity of more than 5 rounds
* Detachable magazine
Everything on this list seems reasonable to me. But then again I don't masturbate to Soldier of fortune so what do I know? As for your uncle is it really hard for companies to redesign weapons to fit in within the Assault weapons ban guidelines? It's not that they can't it's that Gun nuts don't want them too.
Same way Most of the world's militaries get their Weapons? Importing them.California is already under an awb. If you ban them totally do you think the companies would be able to remain in business to produce for Gov or LEO?
You think that if the US bans them again every company in the world would go under? Pretty delusional.
We're not so opposed on this issue as you think we are.
Magazines that exceed factory specs I don't see any use for.
Personally, I don't care for AK-47s, AR-15s, M-16s and the like. However I can appreciate their value to gun enthusiasts who enjoy shooting GI weapons from different eras. My father owns an M-1 Carbine, and I do enjoy shooting that rifle. It is semi-automatic, and it will accept a 30 round magazine, although the only magazine pops has is the issue size.
People who go hunting with semi-automatic weapons are idiots. I will give that one to you free and clear. If you can't make the kill with a bolt action rifle, you don't need to be hunting. Hunting with a firearm is cheating enough to me, if you're chasing Bambi through the woods with a 30 round magazine... that just removes the last shred of sport from the hunt, and it means you probably can't shoot in the first place.
80 million + american gun owners not purchasing from manufacturers of "assault weapons" that make a large percentage of their sales through citizens will have a large impact, ammunition manufacturers too. Let's contract outside the united states even more in an economy in a downward spiral. Plus I don't think many departments would be able to afford as many imported guns.
there are more hunts than deer.People who go hunting with semi-automatic weapons are idiots. I will give that one to you free and clear. Too bad he didn't get more of 'em.

Say that again after this season of 24.
You're all 13, shut up.
Can people that make sweeping generalizations about anything be given their own title? Devik talking about cops is basically me saying that every single fucking black person i know is evil and sucks on satans dick because one of them stole my tech deck when i was 7.
One of them stole my bike from Play Plaza when I was a kid too!
I think we're onto something here.
One stole my bike while I was training to fight against Bald Bull.
My brother is a State Trooper. The Troopers here is Massachusetts take their jobs seriously and they take upholding the integrity of their jobs just as seriously.
He's told me of a Trooper arrested for taking steroids. His barracks members noticed his change in personality and assigned him to desk duty and investigated him.
He's told me of Troopers getting in trouble for other things. But he has told me that if a Trooper sees another possibly doing something thing that could get him in trouble, he'll stop him. They police each other to prevent them from crossing the line.
He has also explained how at least in the MA state police that when a new guy out of the academy starts on the job he/she is taught by the other Troopers how not to be a dick to the public. Give people warnings for minor infractions, do not take an adversarial position with everyday people.
I have a great deal of respect for the Troopers here. I've met some and gone shooting with my brother and other Troopers and they were all nice guys.
The troopers in NJ pull over minorities on fantastic charges and frequently destroy everything inside the car while demoralizing them as sub-humans. They also drive those among them who speak out against said actions to suicide.
So what you're saying is they're the best of New Jersey in every way? :D
I'd like to see your source for the number of Assault weapon owners. cause you know 99% of all numbers posted on forums are bullshit. The economy doesn't hinge on weapon manufacturers. If they can't adjust to the change then Let them fail! (sound familiar to a certain groups talking points?)
Yeah. AR's are definitely needed on duck hunts.
I'll support what I actually said(since I didn't say all were AW owners but you like to read what you want):
1994 survey reported 44 million adult gun owners; survey in 2004 listed 57 million adult gun owners, NRA and GOA report higher but they are biased.

gun sales are rising while purchases of other things are lower. Gun sales have seen an 8% increase since obama's election. With a report of 8.4 million background checks being done through NICS in 2008. With those sales doing at least 1 gun(possibility of more) and say the minimum price of $100 per gun (some may be less not a lot, more than likely more with AR-15 clones going for about $1k). Quite a bit of cash flowing into the economy through guns and ammo.
AWB takes out other guns, such as semiauto shotguns, which *gasp* are used on duck hunts, pheasants, quail, deer, etc.
