CPU/GPU Temp Program?

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good CPU and GPU temperature program -- I looked up SpeedFan and its not exactly what I'm looking for plus seemed to bog down all my bg apps o.o including FFXI....I don't wanna overclock or anything like that I just want to keep an eye on my pc temps. The few I have found seem to be Intel onry and that's sadness as my new build is AMD >.o

EDIT: I would be a little wary of the current CoreTemp release (0.99.4)--the Tj. Max setting when I used it was 85 degrees, and as I understand it, it should be 15 degrees (this was a problem with early versions of speedfan.) .99.3 seems to work great.

New versions of SpeedFan are excellent.

I've been much happier than I was with CoreTemp.

Edit: If it's not what you're looking for, what are you looking for? And I've never seen it bog anything down, I'm not sure why it would for you.

GPU-Z is great for GPU temp. Speedfan is probably best for CPU temp, but only if you have the patience and know-how to calibrate it. Outside of Speedfan, I've used Realtemp and Coretemp, and generally prefer Realtemp as it seems more accurate with what I had on Speedfan after calibration. I dunno whats best for AMD though, I use a C2D.

I cant seem to get GPU-Z to d/l from download.net nor from the link that's in the apps sticky

On a side note I opened up ATI Control Center and it seems to have the temp in the 'Overdrive' area ~ Temp sitting at 54-59C almost 20 degrees hotter than my CPU <.<; Is that normal?

My radeon HD4850 hovers around 80C when folding on it (that's max load for hours on end), but these graphics cards are rated to run upwards of 120C. You're safe.

This is what my 4870 X2 used to stay at under load (27% fan speed). Increased the fan speed to 35%, not noticeably more audible, idles at 38C and peaks at around 60C.

I started getting random glitches in graphics (usually only when Im clicked off the FFXI window) that last no more than a second so I was worried about over heating.....Card is only 3weeks old i'd hate for it to be borked already @.@;

also from cpuid hardwareinfo gives cpu/gpu/hdd temps and cpu fan speed in addition to a bunch of voltages

I understand you're not specifically looking for an mod tool, but I feel obliged to point out that ATI Tray Tools (ATT) will tell you all GPU temperatures, CPU temperatures, and MB temperatures (if your equipment has the sensors). In addition, I don't know if it can do it for all of them, but I know you can set it up so that instead of the ATT tray icon it displays the current GPU temperature for you in your task bar.


If you decide one day that you'd like to use real options rather than the dubbed down 'features' that Catalyst gives you, ATT is going to be your best friend anyway and doesn't consume hardly any resources. You have to use ATT for some things, such as vsync in Vista, as the CCC program doesn't work properly in that OS for that feature. A couple of others as well but that's one of the important ones.

I personally use EVGAs Precision tool for showing GFX Cards temps on screen while I play games, neat little overlay. And Everest is another great program, shows exactly what your looking for to.
