    Anecdotal, but still.

I refuse to believe you have a dps tanking 2 stack festergut 25... I mean, I'm not calling you a liar or anything, but are you sure you don't have some dps that has a full tank setup taking it?

2 stack is bad enough, that shit kills real tanks.

But what you're implying would leave you with a dps taking most of both 2 stacks, and a pally with no cd's taking the 2nd 3 stack (if you bubble the debuff off, you can't shield wall...).

Try tanking as a warrior and you might see why there's some QQ-- not to say all of it is justified, but warriors DO take one hundred thousand times more skill and attention than paladins.

Edit: GC has even acknowledged this. He says protadins are being nerfed.
First off, GC has not "acknowledged" this. The only comment GC has made is that paladins were the AOE tanks, and in making everyone into AOE tanks they made AOE too simple for everyone. Don't mindlessly spew whatever you've heard the WoW forums say, they're freaking retarded, and the shit like "GC agrees and says pally are being nerfed!" is half the reason they keep communication to a minimum.

Secondly, no, warrior does not take any more skill than paladin at all. Sorry, having a big popup in the middle of the screen go SWORD AND BOARD PROCCED or REVENGE NOW does not make you insanely skilled. Macroing heroic strike to everything you do does not make you insanely skilled.

Paladins are watching every gcd just as much as the next guy. But we also have to watch for cleanses. We also have to be aware of when and how to use hosac/dsac. We also have to run a cooldown for other tanks now, since we can't loh ourselves. We also have a rotation where if you fuck up once, the whole thing is fucked up for anywhere from a few up to 10-15 seconds. We also have to function around emergency cooldowns that strip hate (glyph of salv). Etc. etc., I could go on forever, but the fact of the matter is saying paladins are "easy" just shows you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

Blizzard's Wrath devs seem to like putting the complexity into the base classes and leaving the hybrids with a dumbed-down version that ultimately works better. DPS seems to be the exception, because anyone who claims Mage or Rogue are complicated DPS probably gets overwhelmed by shoelaces.
So what you're saying is you feel all healers and tanks are ezmode. Because there is no non-hybrid tank or healer.

Holy paladin in the pure tank healing role is the only simple thing in all of your implications. Try dpsing as a ret pally, watch how using the wrong priority 1 single time eats your dps for the entire rest of the fight.

Sure, you can write a script to play a prot paladin. It would even be better than a scripted dk or warrior. Of course, it would still be utterly fucking worthless, and a terrible tank nobody would want anything to do with, but I guess that's beside the point.

Oh no, this is where the 6969696969 protadins all come in and say cleansing is complicated.

Really? Protadin isn't harder than warrior? B u l l s h i t. Go play a prot war and do randoms with shitheads who don't know what /assist is-- because, guess what? We don't have the circle-of-infinite-threat-and-10k-DPS. We don't have mana which is restored every time we get a heal. We have a clunky ass rage mechanic which needs fixing.

That reminds me, only bad warriors macro heroic strike to everything. You can't always heroic strike. Want to know why? RAGE STARVATION. If you macro heroic strike to everything, your threat will be absolute shit on a lot of fights because you'll be wasting rage.

Also, Eaglestrike, I held threat off a level 96 elemental priest pulling 86k DPS as a level 15 resto shaman. Anecdotal evidence is fun.

I played a warrior at 70 when heroics were actually remotely challenging.

    We didn't have shockwave then.

Sorry, but if you can't lock mobs onto you with tclap into shockwave, you just fucking fail at tanking, period.

And pro warriors have an action bar without hstrike macrod to everything, and one with, and switch back and forth constantly.

But then again I'm a paladin all I do is press 69696969 without looking, but ardent defender protects me from my retardation. What would I know?

Shift + mousewheel is fucking hard shit.

Yeah, I wish that was the case. I'm undergeared and nothing makes me cringe more than seeing a Retadin join my group wearing ICC gear or, worse yet, one of the better weapons from last Arena season (because PvP players are more likely to forget what "threat" is). It basically says to me, "Nothing you do will be enough because this guy is just going to Consecrate and Divine Storm his way right through your pathetic threat." That's not really a problem with Warrior, though, as it is with any undergeared tank.

What does drive me to madness, though, is when I need to gather mobs to use all my wonderful snap aggro and people kick on Rain of Fire, Blizzard, or Death & Decay before I have managed to get Thunderclap and Shockwave off. DPS have forgotten any kind of restraint. I'll admit that I'm a little bad about that on Shadow Priest, but if my DoTs generate enough threat in ~3 seconds to peel mobs off a tank of any flavor, the tank probably isn't that great.

Ret will pull from anything, no matter how geared you are, our 3-4 target dps is just plain absurd.

As for the rest-- paladin is *more* vulnerable to this than warrior.

It takes almost until your 2nd tclap is up for consecrate threat to equal the initial tclap.

Basically at the point shockwave wears off, tclap and shockwave will have made about the exact same threat as consecrate + hammer do... except hammer only hits 3 targets.

Like I said, I'm undergeared, which doesn't seem to be helping matters (caveat: I'm a total noob when it comes to how gear affects threat in WoW). Even so, I haven't done so poorly except in some of the bloody Utgarde pulls where mobs are half caster, half not, and people will not give me two seconds to Heroic Throw and Shield Bash the little fuckers to get them gathered up.

So you tell me to go run randoms as a warrior, then tell me that when I run randoms it doesn't count as evidence to work against your claim? Right...

another advantage to warriors lol, tclap and shockwave scale with gear a little, but their base status when undergeared is way higher threat, consecrate takes a lot of str to catch up, and then surpasses around uld25 level gear

But yeah I know what you're saying. I tank heroics in dps gear good enough that I can pull 6k as prot on single target bosses, and I still have impatient people managing to pull aggro now and then. Meanwhile on my mage I get warrior tanks all the time, I wait for the tclap/shockwave combo to land, and can then go all out the rest of a given pull. Pretty much end up laughing at people complaining either way heh.

But really heroics are meaningless, if people want to talk about how "difficult" various classes are in comparison to each other, it should really be about, you know, difficult encounters.

Yeah, not gonna disagree with you on that. I've been growing to tolerate tanking, if not enjoy it, but I'm locked in Heroics for a while and am honestly not sure I wanna raid on my Warrior, anyhow, so that's what has been bugging me lately: Heroic morons.

it's half hour wait time because that shit is broken, once you get to 44+ it's fine again

it's utterly pointless to queue from 41-43, unless you're *really* into fighting red mobs

Yeah I was thinking about that not too long ago, I wonder how it would interact with pvp if all the pve dps had to actually rely on hit gear in every single slot to be able to do anything at all the way ffxi did heh.

Oh I'm not saying it's "fine," it's stupid as hell, but it's a "bug" that will theoretically be fixed one of these days.

Reins of the Blue Drake... on my frigging alt... that doesn't have Artisan flying yet. I'ma try to get a GM to transfer it to my main. I know they won't, but, damnit, I never get Oculus on my main and I'm at 76 mounts so far on him.

If you are desperate, there is a rumor the reins also drop from any "blue sack of gems" from the old vanilla world dragons. might get fixed in 3.3.2 today, but yeah.
