RAWR rogue is really bad, i am not sure why but for some classes it is great (mage) for other it is horrible like the example you just gave. Elitist Jerks spreadhseet made by the rogues there is what the standard "spreadsheet it" is refered too. If you want something less "elitist" Shadowpanther.net still works or the pocket guide on Elitist Jerks is good to start links below to the following things.

Hm just quickly looking through those spread sheets most of the gear a pre-raiding rogue would be using is missing.

Yes the Elitist Jerks spreadsheets are not for new rogues looking to gear up, they are for a raiding rogue looking to maximize performance. Most of the ToC 25 gear should be in it though

Shadowpanther will be the best place to start, then move up to Elitist Jerks when you feel you have enough gear from Raids. http://shadowpanther.net/starter-pve.htm is the started gear a rogue has access too, it is a bit messy but look through at what is available and go from there really. I really do recommend giving the Pocket Guide a read, it is very good and answer most "new to rogue" questions.

rawr is pretty shitty for most classes, I am really surprised that any class actually trusts that program.

The new rogue spreadsheets are pretty shitty looking though, the old one was a lot cleaner. I'm pretty happy with Landsouls for warrior as well.

Yeah, good Rawr models are the exception, not the rule. Right now the only particularly useful ones are druid and mage, to my knowledge; warlock may be decent, not sure, but most of the others miss some crucial mark that really throws their numbers off.

I don't believe Warlock works at all with Rawr, but I do know that Rawr Mage is pretty much amazing. Also Rawr Ret and to a lesser extent Prot paladin are both spot on, prot to a lesser extent because tanking isn't as easy to put into numbers. I know at 70 the Spriest model worked exactly like it should also.

The Spriest model is shit. Simcraft and PP are much more accurate ways to gear but of course they require lots of time to work properly.

Shaman gets into the guild and raids for 3 weeks, other people being sat to get him in. He wasn't needed for any specific buff or because he was good, just brought him along. This week he gets sat as we had better options.

Hunter leaves the guild.
Holy paladin leaves the guild.
Resto shaman leaves the guild.
Mage leaves the guild.

Yep, all of them are rl friends and they all quit because one of them didn't get in one week.

Rawr has been a joke for every class i have tried it with, its got a lot of massive issues, even when set up perfectly.

Landsoul's warrior spreadsheet is by far the most accurate and trustworthy dps simulation of a class that i have found.

And.. casual 10man guild stomped all through ICC Heroic modes tonight, 1-3 shot most of it first time in, and.. my video card blew up so i missed out

Yep, we have had to carry 3 awful dps through sindra, lk, and now hardmodes.. just because all the half decent raiders are tied up in the 2-4 decent 25man raid guilds on this horrid lowpop server, and cant give a shit about 10s now that frost badges are capped/so plentiful from other sources, so annoying.
