Apparently to prove that IRL information can't lead to anything on the internet a community manager posted his name on the Warcraft forums. Then a bunch of other people posted his personal information.And showed that he lived with his mother.

Also the thread on the general forums is already over 700+ pages. Don't think I've seen a thread on the WoW forums get that big ever, or grow that fast. It's a ridiculous change. I know there is a lot of trolls on the WoW forums but they are also going to get rid of A LOT of quality posters who give great feedback. Even one of the forum MVPs posted against it lols. They ride Blizzard's dick on everything.

They modify the ToS every patch with new features, and every patch I dont read it Wouldn't know if there is something about realid or not there.

It actually hasn't been modified for nearly two years now. July 29th, 2008 is the last time it was updated, and it says that right at the top. So when you say you don't read it, you must really mean it!

There was a thread on MMO champ claiming that it was possible to make a mouseover macro that pulled someone's RealID without having to be friended to them. There was a lot of skepticism but I wouldn't be shocked if it were the case.

If I'm reading the source correctly, it says your own add-ons have access to your name, not other peoples, meaning you would have to download a malicious add-on yourself to be affected. Still a pretty dumb security hole thou.

And lol at all the people that actually think they're pushing the RealID shit into the forums to combat trolling.

My concern lies in what their next invasion of privacy is going to be, hopefully not shifting all friends systems to realid-only. Though it does feel like that is the next step.

The replies from the blue and wannabe green posters are just precious.

Basically every "I want to continue to post on the forums but I don't want my name to be included (and this is why...blah blah blah)" type of message is retorted with "Don't post then." or "You don't HAVE to post." I have yet to see one blue even try to explain the need for real names to be plastered on posts without coming off as a complete shill. Not a single one.

There's reason to do this and I don't understand how someone can say there is NO good reason for doing this. I can understand saying "it's not worth it" or "I'd rather it not happen" but to say there's no reason whatsoever for this change is silly.

So how does anyone seriously not think the gearscore author is a complete fuckhead anymore now that his 3.0 beta release includes the RealID exploit?

Edit: lol nvm, apparently it's someone trying to distribute the exploit by labeling it as gearscore.

He's still an arrogant schmuck, the fact that blizzard made an april fools joke of the concept should be proof enough that it's a retarded fucking way to measure player status and the spam it creates in the addon channel even when you don't have it yourself is atrocious.
