recount guessed absorbs and skada's absorbs both guestimate the effective healing/absorbs; both will be different, users choice of which to use. WOL is a better way to accurately get a feel for your absorbs/healing as a disc priest though.
Even if you pug raids I can't recommend running WOL enough; the extra data can be really useful when you're trying to fine tune your own processes, or to identify weak points in a raid. And if you lead raids it's great to be able to see who isn't performing, or who keeps consistently making the same mistake(s). Just name your own "guild" and start uploading; if you don't need realtime access to the data, just run it after the evening's events are done and upload it that way. The website does all the parsing, your computer just has a lightweight java applet to stream the logfile out to their database.
Enchanting has become a greater profit than JC these days
I remember when gems vary between 300-500g and even buyings raws was rougly 100g profit!
There is a bit of guesswork involved with the way absorbs are currently calculated. Every spell or melee damage event sent by the combat log has a field that lists the amount of that attack that was absorbed. The problem is with stacking absorbs (Val'Anyr is the big offender here) you cannot tell whose absorb is the one absorbing the damage without some complex heuristics. As far as I know every combat log addon just looks at the last person to apply an absorb spell (PWS/Val'Anyr/Sacred Shield) to the person who received damage and absorbed it and credits them.
This is fixed in Cataclysm currently.
Story time! FoS HC, Bro-jam, after many fail experiences tanking him in the middle, lately I just taunt him to the entrance of his room and keep him there, giving the dps and healer enough room to run when about to get soul'd.
Group was DK tank (me), resto shaman, lock, elesham and spriest. The healer got soul'd a good 5 times and all of them stood about 8 yards from me and never ran.
Despite having enough room to run people just ran for a short while and of course nobody killed the orbs. We were there a good 5 or 6 minutes until I god kicked for not kiting the boss :S
Right before the boss the ele shaman said 'use frost presence and keep aggro please' during fight he was below me on dps ._. Good times.
I love FoS I always go all out and kill my Rogue friend >_>
Forge of Souls is short and sweet.
It was my first instance when I hit 80 though. Blew my mind. Now whenever I do it as disc, its so boring :/
I love killing the shitty players on the final boss, makes it worth running.
He probably got a 'targetting you' or whatever warning on one mob at some point for whatever reason, or blew himself up a little on reflect on skeletons right before boss.
As for kiting vs not, just doing the kiting is a lot easier, saves time from people being idiots and not running/not dpsing orbs
Ran Utgarde Keep for the first two times last night. First run went great, and I got the 2H axe from the boss even.
Second run was OK. Even in my meager blood dps gear, I was doubling the next best dps (I was pulling 900dps, everyone else was in the 400-450 range). First tank was smart, and moved the group out of the way when the boss did the super spinning axe move, second tank didn't move us and I died quickly -being a newb I didn't notice the spinning axe quickly enough - and the group wiped shortly after. The priest gave us an earful about not moving...Chalk it up to a learning experience. I won't make that mistake twice!
Kinda bad that for a second there I couldn't remember any boss in Old Kingdom that does a twirly. You get so used to the short version that you even forget theres 2 more bosses in there.

Also, fuck always getting put on raid healing Valithra Dreamwalker. Pisses me off even more when the fucking holy paladin on Valithra does even less healing done then me.
Why would you be on her as disc? Literally every other healer should be more effective at that...
Join a RS25 pug, meet all the requirements set by the RL (gearscore, achievement, know the fight, get on Vent, have mic, etc etc etc) then sit around for an hour+ while raid fills. Get down to RS, zone in, use my flask, give the assigned buffs - then get kicked.
When I ask why, I get told to ask RL. When I ask RL, he says to ask this other dude. Other dude says to ask RL. Cue more giggling on Vent. Rinse, repeat.
Jeez, just tell me to my face, "Sorry, we want to make room for a guildie" or whatever the issue is. At least I didn't get locked, but I would have liked to know what I did wrong so I can maybe avoid it in the future.
tl;dr people are immature dicks, qq moar, etc
Frostbitten.
Loque'nahak grrrrr
