Because rogues are having the time of their lives one shotting anything and everything with ambush and if you manage to survive that they'll hit you with an eviscerate for about 200% of your max health
Oh I'm aware, it used to be like 1700hp hunters and shit, I remember. But at least that made SOME sense in that you can just keep farming people forever with that gear. Now you go through all that effort for a few BG's with the gear and then it starts to get dated. Sure it lasts for a good 10-15 levels as hp, but meh.
1700 hp hunters weren't the worst problem, hunters and rogues with a few hundred agi were heh.
The thing is the stats on actual gear are so low you can get just some white gear and heavily enchant it and do it over and over again. Since there's nobody running around with perfect stats on their baseline gear, that's now the "dominant status" or whatever.
Ugh, done farming these fucking bosses I think. Keep losing the agi cloak I want to plate wearers and the fight times are lengthening now that everyone's down to their 4th-5th alts gearing up.
Exactly, get a 264 cape for 695 JP I think, much better deal than dealing with the elemental invasion crap.
I foolishly thought I could save my JP and just get the cape easily on some instant-pop queues on my feral tank. Turns out going 0-20+ thwarted that brilliant plan.
I'm a bad tank because all the way up to Heroic ToGC I was fine, but during the Anub fight I can't pick up adds "fast" enough.
I lay DnD, grip/taunt them into DnD
Try to establish aggro
OK for the first 2 adds
More adds spawn, I try to grab them as my stuff's on cooldown, but the DPS just lays into them, I lose it gradually because I can't keep them on me, wipe wipe wipe. Then it's decided I can't do the job and people leave lol. They won't let me tank anub
And now apparently I can't tank and suck
I'm sure I'm not doing anything too wrong and that it's other players who aren't aware of the DK threat/moves mechanics
Or can anyone advise me if I was infact doing something wrong?
Admittedly, I never really cared for ToGC, but didn't you need either an add tank with an unhittable set or two tanks for the adds?
As well, shouldn't hunter/rogues be MDing to you in that situation? Picking up 4 adds coming from different directions is very difficult for any tank, and probably worst for a DK.
The changes to MD/ToTT have made it that much harder for add tanks on H.Anub, I would think. You think you have a good lead on threat then poof there goes your bonus threat from Hunters/Rogues and suddenly you're behind the Fire Mage who's been AoEing like it's a Marrowgar trash pull.
We had one hunter only, the rest was mage/warlock/shaman dps.
A warrior kept complaining on how hard it can be, but I suspect he hasn't tanked before or is not aware of the new tanking styles ? lol
I'm just slightly disappointed on how I am being judged on purely because I can't pick up adds but yeh even I considered that this isn't an easy task when they told me to do it. I just want some retribution for this, for the ones that don't understand what a tank goes through. lol
EDIT: Correction - ok cool I'm slightly comforted by the acknowledgement that this wasn't easy and I wasn't retarded. I didn't snap back or swear or rage or anything, just kept apologising and stuff, trying to be adult lol![]()
I never had threat problems pre-4.0 unless it was on a fight where I got to stand still and do max DPS and i was potting and shit. Now I'll be doing shit like Blood Princes or Putricide and have to use Invisible, super annoying. I think it may have a lot to do with our warrior tank who is really bad at...adapting I guess. If he has to do anything besides his rotation (Like taunting off me) we will wipe and he will berate me about pulling threat and dropping his vengeance stacks and shit. Pretty sad.
So I guess this all again stacks back to the original problem with people in this game. If we have to ask them to do anything remotely out of the ordinary, like you said, taunting off you, the retardness will come out of them. So my plead to the DPS to slow down on the adds so I can, you know, get them into my radius, was too much for them to handle
Side note, it seems there was a change I didn't take into account:
Would explain why I was kinda getting bitch slapped? HahaClasses
http://static.mmo-champion.com/mmoc/...athknights.gif Death Knight (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Beta Skills/Talents)
- Death Strike now properly heals for 20% of the damage taken within the last 5 seconds, and Blood Presence now increases armor contribution from items by 30%, down from 60%.
Also random note: I'm a "fucking dick" of a tank according to a Paladin because I skipped Eck, but no one asked for it until we jumped in the water and he started spouting off. I shrugged and just asked the healer if he wanted it, he said no, so we went for the boss (no complaining here). Towards the end we killed the final boss, he starts going emo about needing 6 JP to buy his T10 legs. I told the healer to leave and then I apologised about not being able to help him, he replied "fuck you" lol.... geez what a way to react. Anyways in hindsight I should've booted him before the boss =p -- guess I'll start being a part time prick if this keeps up. I has the tank card =p !!
With my minimal experience of ToGC, isn't it smart for the dps to wait until you have the adds in place before they start wailing on them? I always did that with every group.. but I'm not sure if its normal for dps to start asap in the HM of it.
If you're a dps, your role is to engage anything immediatly and do as much damage as you can? Tank has no threat? Doesn't matter. You're standing in fire? Who cares, healer can heal. If it fails, you can always blame the healer or tank.
(and yeah, it's the smart thing to do, but most dps are completely oblivious to game mechanics)
Ice patch is dropped to the side of anub, with everyone basicly standing on his arsehole. Back 2 adds are (where at least) md'd to the unhittable add tonk. At which point all aggro giving abilities where dumped on the add tank (secondary MD'd volley, tott'd FOK). Everyone aoe's like fuck taking down the 4 adds while still damaging the boss. I can see that fight being an absolute 'mare now that the threat abilities are changed.
just rolled a new char after buying the $20 for all expansions deal. So far I'm lvl 28 and I'm not allowed to use the AH because it thinks I'm a trial account. So, I have crap npc bags and a crap npc sale and drops only gold balance. So, I can't even use glyphs in the slots that opened up at lvl 25.
To top all this off, I opened a GM ticket that hasn't been looked at for 2 days now...
