Yeah honestly I'm not sure how a warrior does (haven't done it/seen it) without the self-healing. As a paladin my self-healing has clearly been the reason we've beaten a number of encounters. I imagine DK works the same.

Warriors have superior mitigation through blocking / critical block, negates the need for self healing.
I dunno about you, but DK tank has been a big reason why a lot of fights have worked out for us. i.e Their self heal during a mechanic where healers can not possibly heal the tanks, etc.
My favorite two tanks at the moment are definitely DK and Warrior. Bear is a close second, but definitely not as amazing as the other two are.
It was stated in some blue posts/patch notes I believe about the design on why the other tanks (this was 3.5 and before) where DKs had to work a bit harder to generate threat whereas my Guild's Paladin all seem to find it dull/boring as all they had to do was AoE and seem to do fine, and I'm not sure if this is still the case, but a warrior friend tells me all he does is cleave cleave cleave without breaking a sweat. This was relevant back in that patch where some bosses need dual tanks, I found myself dumping everything out when the need comes for me to take over tanking, and the other tank will just casually sit there and still take over me in threat.
This has all changed now and are back up on par now, so not complaining![]()
So I go to queue, get a group for heroic Deadmines that's in progress. Zone in, ask if dps is fail. Do a fight, yep, dps is fail. I'm leading at 7.6k dps (healing myself a bit) with a hunter at 6k dps, arcane mage at 4.6k dps and ret pally at 4.4k dps. Ret and mage are together.
Eventually the healer leaves. I refuse to re-queue while ret and mage are here. The balance druid we got to replace the hunter leaves and then ret and mage kick me. I feel bad for the group that has to finish their run for them =/
how the fuck are ppling pull such low dps in heroics at 85. That just makes no sense to me. Even on fights that have me (feral cat) moving around a bunch, i still never drop below 10k. pulling 7.6-8k on some fights is understandable that have tons of adds and your constantly switching targets, but 5k or under... how do these ppl get 85 and not know how to play their class to any competent degree
We were on Admiral Ripsnarl. The ret and mage were BOTH on the adds, not the boss at all. AND ADDS WERE STILL BLOWING UP. Healer was going oom because the boss was up with 20 stacks for too long.
I'm honestly wondering the same thing. As the tank I usually sit around 6-7k depending on CC sometimes higher if there are lots of AoEable packs and I'm usually first or second in dps. I had a hunter doing 3k in one run, which I don't even understand how that's possible. Autoshot + pet should do more than that. I guess Wrath was really just that easy that no one knows how to play their class anymore it seems.
Does anyone have a guide to playing hunter? getting to 85 is relatively fast now, and I know I haven't begun to learn all the ins and outs of the class, but when I went through heroic Dead Mines i was doing only like 6.5k or so which is pathetic.
No idea how geared you are, but I've seen many dps do lower than this. It's probably not too bad if we are talking about a fight with many gimmicks.
I'm not sure if they have the best guide for hunter, but elitistjerk forum usually has the information you need to min/max your class.

Tol Barad on offense = basically impossible.
The fuck were they thinking...
My damage / spreadsheet says Im doing lower dps using 333 gear than my t10 >.>
That's beside the point, you're doing less damage because twice the haste rating gives less than half the amount of haste, same with crit and hit.
I've stomped a few 85's on my 80 pally that I'm using for mining thanks to having near 50% reduction from resil and critting out the ass.
I started heroic dm on my resto sham last night. About 10 mins in we hit some more elite ogre trash that was immune to cc. Between the two hitting the tank, I was unable to single target heal fast enough to keep him alive... 2 trash hit faster than a healer in all 333s popping cd for insta, using hots to drop cast times and increase crit rates can heal a single fkng target! I'm done on heals until the fix these new ratios.
Hp bars and damage taken have tripled, heals and damage done have doubled at best. I'm letting my sub rn out and I'm canceling until next patch...
Have your tank press a mitigation button.
Tol barad is such a shitty world pvp idea. Defending is easy as hell. Just run around in a zerg re-capping towers, or just have everyone afk at one tower and your fine. And attacking is near impossible unless you significantly outnumber the opposing side. It seems the only chance to ever have it change sides is in the wee hours of the morning when few are on. Hell, even when we (alliance) had it, it only ever had a chance to change hands at like 2 or 3 am
