Mitigation still works on bleeds >_>
I hate pug melee, you have stuns use them. I only tank for guild people to help them gear up but wiping cause you can't stun something cause you're too busy being tunnel visioned on a boss is retarded. Also I hate that I've not been in a 10/25 man yet cause my guild sucks. Anyone need a beast DK either frost or blood? <3
There's nothing wrong with the way healing works right now. Tanks have a ton of mitigation buttons right now. Those mobs can be stunned, and once you tank gets some more avoidance they don't hit that hard. None of the new mechanics make any of the fights impossible, it's become much more about skill and minimizing damage through other means. I'm not sure about Warriors and Druids but Paladin's and DK's have huge self healing abilities that make it much easier on the healer if they are on the ball by sacrificing a bit of threat.
Probably one of the issues with dungeons these days is that everyone needs to play more defensively instead of just blowing shit up. DPS needa use their stuns/interrupts a lot more and be aware of everything going on.
sadly, most of the dps are freaking morons. Had a ret pally who didn't have repentence for CCing. didn't hammer of justice/rebuke spells. nuthin. I'm not in heroics yet but I know I'm not touching em till I have at least a few epics from the rep factions and some proper enchants.
Your fine for heroics w/ ilv 333 gear and a few 346s from JP (w/you should have saved up from wrath) along w/a few revered pieces from factions. As a tank you might have issues w/a few of the harder bosses, but it boils down to how competent your healer / dps are. If they suck, then it doesn't matter how good of gear you have (at this point in the game) because you can't carry them.
I started to run heroics w/guildies when I just hit the ilv requirement... And so did my friend (tank). A few things were harder then they neededto be, but you will gear up fast
Its funny to me how drastic the opinions of heroic are with people who have a competent guild to run them with, compared to people who have to queue up solo. I've had several friends from different servers be like "pfff heroics are not THAT hard" just because they group with a full group of people from their hardcore guild <_<
I think in this expansion more than others, the DPS you have can make or break the group. In WOTLK you could have three monkeys on DPS that were pulling like 1k per if you had a good tank or healer. In Cata things become so much easier if you your dps pulling 10k+ and suddenly most of the healers mana problems go away because everything dies so quickly. I did a mostly guild run of Heroic DM with only a pug healer who kept getting himself killed by random AoE's and shit (He also died like six times in the nightmare part) and we still rolled the place because our dps was so sick. I actually self healed on the last boss from 70% to dead because our healer missed the rope the first time. It was the first time I'd done a guild run since joining and it was awesome to not be first or second on the dps meters as the tank. It's almost to the point where Blizzard doesn't even need to put actual enrage timers on shit anymore, as the Tank can't be kept up indefinitely. Now it's like each group has it's own separate enrage depending on how geared your healers and tank are. And really even in fresh quest greens and blues there isn't an excuse to not be pulling at least 8-9k as a dps in heroics and most should be above 10k.
doublepost fail.
Just blew through 1600 troll fragments in Arc trying to get Zin'Rohk....nothing.
Fully random heroics are definitely not a good place to gear up. Too many terrible people. In my mostly-346 resto gear, my moonkin does ~10-11k single target in heroics, and I'm definitely mediocre at dps. Dedicated dps from my guild are doing more like 15k+ on single target bosses in heroics. Yeah, I guess I would agree you should expect 8k+ from random folks.
Actually lot of the heroic fights you can actually go near indefinitely if you have a tank, a healer, and they are both good at avoiding the gimmicks. That includes trash fights with 2-3 mobs: just kite them. This is why you should let the dumb dps die: healing them is the only way to fail, as if you run OOM you won't be able to keep the tank up.
Yeah I queue solo as a tank sometimes just for the hell of it, I've had a depressingly high amount of fights where the last third or so is just me and a healer, or even occasionally just me on the bosses that are all gimmicks and no major tank hurt.
Pff no fucking way, is the healers that make or break the group, I solo'd the last 450k of the 1st boss in SFK and from about 900k me and healer(paladin) did the dragon boss in vortex pinnacle.
Plus some others 'solo the last 15% tank' moments I rather forget because its so sad![]()
Seriously fuck Archaeology.... at 525 right now and trying to farm troll artifacts to shoot for Zin'Rohk. All i'm getting are fossil sites, which I don't need because I have both the rare items from there. And then when I get a dig site in Vashjr...FUCK! I already hated that zone for questing, now I hate it even more.
Complaint: Being a competent rogue DPS trying to do heroics without an amazing guild.![]()
I've done maybe 15 heroics with pug (as tank), and the instance were finished every time. It's easier with guildmate for sure, but I really don't see the issue with pug if you don't mind a few wipes.
About gear level, I jumped in heroic with 2 pvp pices (they werent bad for tank..better than most 333), 2 justice gears, and random green/blue ilvl313-333. It was rough, but doable. Pretty sure most class can get away with it and perform relatively well, except maybe healer.
