So I decided to go back to doing some archaeology just because it was mentioned. First dig site I get first survey is a red light. Next is a red light. next 5 are red lights. I go 5-10 yards each time. 8th survey? Yellow light. What the fuck? Did they hotfix it and make the colors the opposite of what they originally were or something?

No.... Red light means far away, yellow means medium, green means it's close.

Red = more than 70 yards
Yellow = 30-70 yards
Green = less than 30 yards

My complaint; people joining random dungeons in groups without someone who is capable of cc or ranged damage case and point dk tank 2 druids in stonecore, as a shaman im the only one who ends up ccing/interrupting because druids are so pointless in this expansion.

Doing BoT trash farm for the epics. I'm the only druid in the group, no rogue. Unheeded warning drops. I made it clear before we started thats what I was there for and was told no one else needed it. It drops 3rd time through or so and they don't even say anything, just give it to some pos terrible gear and skilled hunter. Their reason was it was a 100+ agility increase to their green trinket... Pretty damn pissed about that. Then they say I can't roll on the staff for boomkin because the spirit doesn't help me at all.

It just took my group, no joke, 5 minutes to kill the main boss in IoC. On our 2nd attempt. No more than 2-3 alliance ever came in either. Just my team wasn't there to actually fight the boss, at all...

I only leveled jewology to troll guildies with getting the rares they complained over for weeks since they did not get them after 1000's of solves. I didn't expect to get anything out of it but maybe a few laughs at their expense and to kill time and have something to do on non-raiding days. The more I played around with jewology the more flaws I see in it, I see a lot of problems with it.

I don't know anyone who would call this profession "fun". I remember @ blizcon when cata was revealed they said we would love jewology and it would be a fun thing to do. I don't know a single person who finds jewology fun, I suspect maybe some of those FFXIV players would love jewology. I don't expect this profession to be raining epics from the sky but its far from fun.

I actually laugh everytime I see a DK, PLD, War whining on the forums over zinrok. The amount of whining over the drop rates is pretty epic but my complaint is that it's not fun, its shitty designed, there needs to be more to it than just mindlessly trying to farm an epic that has maybe a 1% drop rate or some shitty mount/pet.

This profession could have been so epic, but it's sorta fail. In 4.1 when the next tier of epics get added all you're going to see is the next line of classes qq'ing about not seeing the next leet epic that everyone will want through jewology.

I honestly don't care about the rares from it, to be honest, all I really freaking want is to finish it, and it's so unfun that I can't even bring myself to do it most of the time. Survey, mount, fly forward, survey, mount, fly back to the same fucking spot I started in, do this going back and forth about six times, then finally get yellow pointing off to some completely other direction unrelated to the first 10 surveys, finally find the goddamn artifact. Repeat until the digsite dries up.

Wouldn't bother me so much if it didn't send me on a literal back and forth for twenty minutes. This happens at least once per digsite, sometimes more than that even.

Yup. I was around ~19.5, mages and locks right even around ~17.k-18k.

The other hunter was around 14k and was focusing on the boss most of the time. (Or his damage to adds was just so little compared to mine).

During two of the burn phases I hear "let Thur kite the adds around for a bit". While the boss is still greater than 50% and not even half the adds are half dead.

They think that cause we can 1/2shot Magmaw, that's been on farm for almost three weeks, that we're some sort of 'hardcore raiding guild' that just lacks everyother hardcore aspect of such a guild.

Learn to triangulate. I see so many people just use straight lines when going to the next spot.

Go straight but then change your angle, so your then perpendicular to the original direction.

I say that my average amount of survey's per item retrieval is around 5/6 per item. So not even 5minutes per site.

What?

First aid is flat out irreplaceable no matter how you look at it, and it's not even remotely tedious.

Fishing is massively profitable, albeit tedious-- but it has great uses provided you combine it with cooking.

Cooking is amazing these days as well, you can pick 90 of any stat you want, and it's not tedious at all with the exception of fishing for ingredients (which I don't bother with).

S4 gear actually lasts most of the way through WotLK levels and for PvP purposes will last me until Cata greens come into play. As well, the 70-74 bracket is the last one I really get to enjoy as once I'm 75 PvP is total shit until I can get a full set of Cata greens for my character. So I want to have the bestish gear.

I also have BRD boots, lol. So two huge upgrades from the missing PvP vendor. Should only be a week to wait, but it'll be a boring week.

I've been leveling war, just hit 60 and the super cheap field marshal shit is awesome. You might want to grab those boots if nothing else.

I really do love how cheap they made low level honor gear now, I grabbed shield and head + hands + legs for 3 piece bonus, altogether cost me like 500 honor. I happened across some blue lv 60 boots with like 34 str, so got lucky there.

Do you get satchels at 70+ now? They've helped me a ton, even just on my warrior I've gotten an amazing i65 belt at like 55, some gloves and a couple rings throughout, and some capes and shoulders that would have been awesome if I didn't have heirlooms. That might be an option for you if you're up for running some dungeons. Northrend dungeons are an absolute joke now and take very little time.

Cooking and fishing were so easy to level as it was, really. Cooking I spammed from 1-300 on two toons (and will do so again next year for my newer toons) during the Thanksgiving event. Fishing I did while waiting in the queue, you can fish every level from Orgrimmar and never have to go anywhere else. First aid is also easy, gather cloth > make bandages.

Not to mention the new dailies give you skill just for completing them, they take like 3 seconds to do. First aid you end up getting all the cloth you need to level as you go providing you start it as soon as you're able to. It's a bit more difficult if you are, like me, a tailor, but still doable.

And then there's archaeology, which is the only secondary profession that your alts can't do unless your alts also happen to be 80+. Also, the idea of "profession" is that it's something that makes you gold. I can fish, sell my fish on the AH, profit. I can cook from mats I randomly farm while doing dailies, sell that food on the AH, profit. I can make bandages from the zillions of cloth pieces that drop while I'm leveling a toon from 1-85, sell them on the AH, profit. I can ... dig shit up, put it together, vendor it. Time is money, my time is not worth a shitty grey item that it took me 12 digs to complete and vendors for 12 silver. Not saying I sell all of that stuff - most of it I vendor anyway and in the food's case I end up using it more often than not, but the point is, you don't make shit out of archaeology.

I'm not saying the epic rewards and pets are anything to sneeze at, but the point of a profession is supposed to be either utility or making gold, neither of which archaeology provides.

Granted, it's frustrating when you've got most of the rares and the RNG fucks you over, but the other secondaries are at least as tedious if you're doing it 'right' and money dumps otherwise. The lack of real utility is the only reasonable argument.

Fishing: Dailies + Weekly Contests. I also find it relaxing.
Cooking: Dailies
First Aid: Bandages are useful

All I said was Arch was fourth on this list, not that Cooking/First Aid were all that and a bag of chips. They may be tedious to level, all of them, but Arch takes the fucking cake with the travel distances and how the RNG can fuck you over at the higher levels.

I actually kind of enjoy the dumb Chocobo Hot 'n Cold game that is Archaeology. Granted, I still agree that it is to the other 3 secondaries what the NHL is to the American sports scene. My main complaint is that there's no way to say "Hey, I've gotten all the troll and fossil things like 3 times each. Let's just toss some Dwarf shit at me for a while." The actual act of surveying I find somewhat relaxing and enjoyable, it's just the overall design that I think blows.

Truthfully yes the design sucks. It is so stupid that after a certain point, you don't get any skill from finding the artifacts, just from putting together the finished piece. If I had known that before I got into it, I would have held onto all that shit until after I'd greyed out on digging. That's just stupid. I wouldn't have a problem if they were all green and I got a skill every sixth one or something, but to completely dick out on that after like skill 100 or whatever is just dumb. And I'll be honest, it pissed me off when I realized that because of all skill ups I basically threw away.
