I couldn't figure out why firelands is so hard for my guild when everyone else says it's easy. Then I find out almost all the other raid members are 16-18. Now, it makes sense.

So, last week our guild received an application for a restoration druid at 335 ilevel, 0 epics, no enchants, wrong glyphs, no professions and cheap gems. And he's all "Well come 4.2 I'm gonna get geared and be ready for firelands". I post on his application that for the moment we're leaning towards no. Obvious reasons are obvious. But his friend already in the guild at Raider rank jumps in and defends him, saying we have no right to call him crap when we haven't seen him heal or know him irl. Below is his answer to one of our questions, regarding your class and what you feel it's good for.

What do you feel are the strengths and weaknesses of your character's class and/or spec? Not sure yet as i haven't raided much on my druid.
^true enough, he hadn't even stepped into a raid outside of BH on this character. What makes him think he'll even be prepared to do firelands?

Three days after 4.2 he started spamming heroics, then zandalaris and ended up ilevel 359, so me and the GM agree to trial him. 2 days later we go to Firelands and head to Lord Rhyolith, he gets to join even though he wasn't actually invited through the calendar and shows up eager. We then wiped about 8 times. Each time, without seeing the last phase, and almost each time having to correct him on something or tell him how to play his fucking class. There's 2 hours left and we agree that we want to try out the new Paladin healer we picked up. Druid doesn't want to leave. We ask again politely. He still refuses to leave quietly. And then.. then his friend gets in on it. At first he got the wrong idea of what we said in officer chat, he thought we really wanted to kick him from the guild and replied with "sry, but if you do that then im leaving too." like a real emo troublemaker. He then threw all these insults at us, and called us idiots for wanting to get rid of him. He was quick to list that he was top of the healing done meter, but so cockily left out the overhealing done and the fact he had no mana left at 30%. The other healers were complaining, even some of the tanks/dps didn't like him.

We kick him and invite the Paladin. After getting kicked out and reminding him that he said yes to the question "Do you mind sitting out on occasion for bosses? On some occasions bosses require different set ups." and that guilds do infact require team effort, he replies that he didn't mind sitting out, so long as it's before the raid even begins and not halfway through. Our guild is very quiet, most people only log in to raid or do the new dailies. Drama is not something we want in our guild. I believe it ruins the entire atmosphere of a nice guild. If you rock the boat, I'll fucking kick you off. I've told both that unless they tone it down they're not sticking around for long. Which how it looks now, won't be very long.

Anyway, 2 pulls later we downed Rhyolith, then mowed down the trash to Beth'tilac and 3shot that.

That's what I like (and hate) of 10mans, even switching 1 member makes loads of difference, this is of course a problem now that I switch to healer (I suck at it), because I'm either 2nd or 1st in meters :/

Should have tried it on 10m before they made it easy, fucking nightmare shit. Raggy can suck my balls, stupid transition phases with stupid people attacking the wrong scions i so would have had a kill if the god damn mage hadn't fucked up.

Anyone else notice the NEW vicious gear has improved stats on it for honor purchase? Why the fuck did they do that and not update my vicious in my bags?...

i fucking agree, i'd prefer he just walked around and randomly chose a member to chase. we had such a problem where 1 dps on the legs would die and he'd go straight into the lava and wipe us in seconds.

transition phase are sooooooo ez with arcane mage, AB, tab, AB, again, 1 mage could handle 2 adds by himself, could say the same with other classes though, but mages def. have it ez.

Is this to conincide with the new season? So basically Season 10 Honor gear is of 372 level instead of 365, although it has the same name?

Kinda glad I spent 0 time/effort gathering updated PvP gear in this case lol, as I was busy gearing up on Rogue for PvE.

DK need a threat dump or misdirect fucking badly. I either go balls out and do 20k (without CDs), or hold back and wallow around 13-14k so i don't get my face ripped off. Fucking sucks. Mostly an issue in 5 mans, even with geared tanks, but still, holy shit do I hate nervously riding the threat line all the time.

Single target I'm confident a Warrior or Paladin will not match your threat, at all, until they start crying, or you give them 2 minutes to build threat. But you should be able to go nuts with a geared DK/Druid tank. Did you notice any contrast in between the 4 tanks? I play 3 of them and I find Warrior and Paladin severely lacking in threat.

I never really thought about it tbh, i brought this up because a trial pally tank in our guild jumped into a heroic with me and was bitching "you should get omen!" etc. He's a great tank when we pulled him into firelands, yet this incident just kind of pushed me over the edge. It happens alot, but i never thought about what tank was having issues.

There can be ramp up issues with paladin tanks, needing to get 3 holy power before getting a nice burst of threat from shield of the righteous but also issuse coming from parrying & dodging too much and not getting alot of vengeance dosn't really help with threat either especially in 5mans, in raids its fine because everything hits hard enough to max vengeance quickly.

I good geared DK tank with DRW glyph should be able to get shit loads of threat pretty fast off the board. I only had issues as frost pulling threat when I got 4 KM procs in a row at the start and was like "Have at it bitches!", tanks loved that.

Keep in mind that in 5-man heroics you will be fighting packs so if the dps is split or too aggressive off the start it can be pretty much impossible to hold threat. Especially awesome are the dps that unload on monsters before the tank can get them in position.

All serious dps should have some kind of threat meter running.

DK tanks seem to have little issues with threat on single targets from my experience. I was off-spec tanking a lot for my raid group last tier and I was constantly outdoing a main spec Prot pally with better gear in threat on my blood DK and I know it wasn't because of how the guy was playing. Now we have a warrior as our second tank and I'm finding myself really riding the line on pulling aggro a lot in my frost spec just by doing my normal attacks. Really wish Blizz would go ahead and give DKs and Wars a threat dump and be done with it.
