Sorry for the confusion but I wasn't trying to indicate it grew to that number "in" vanilla. I was trying to say it grew to that with the way 1-60 was set up. 1-60 didn't change all that much from vanilla > BC > WoTLK.

The game is stale because you've been doing the same routine since TBC now at a much slower pace. Content is flowing out really slow, its the same exact thing except its not as hard as it used to be. Subscriptions are going to continue to drop, especially as more guilds attain 7/7 with a lot of people who don't really care about hardmodes.

I don't know what Blizzard could do to break the routine they have dug themselves into. I still remember when Cataclysm got previewed at Blizcon for the first time, they promised so much was changing yet nothing really did, the game is still the same exact thing since the TBC launched, why should anyone be surprised its starting to bleed customers almost 5 years later?

At the end of the day, a daily is still a daily, a heroic is still a heroic, grinding rep is still grinding rep, it doesn't matter how much they polish it or disguise the grind, you've been doing this shit for years now.

No, they definitely didn't hit that number in vanilla, they made a big deal about 10m at some point during tbc, which was the peak at the time.

The ballooned numbers from chinese penny subs makes the global subscription numbers pretty meaningless thou.

I was dissatisfied with just about everything in cata at release (class changes, the raids, stale pvp, etc), and haven't played since. Recycled heroics, firelands, and paid premium services haven't exactly enticed me to resub, lol.

Game is rehashing the same cycle it's been doing for years, and has gained 12million+ subscribers due to. Quitting for gw2, quitting for another game, etc etc, how many times have you guys said this or sat back while watching others say this?

Sono posted this in the TERA thread (over a month ago), but it shows just how much research blizz has done on previous mmo/game releases, ect... granted things may be different in the future since the game's population is dwindling at a progressed rate, but reposting it because it's relevant:

Based on a discussion with a friend of mine who works for blizzard, this is the population timeline weve figured.

Assume 20% lost players who came from FFXI or WoW to return to that game if a new major patch/content release arrives.

Medium guild population losses will be for WoW patches from hardcore players who will be returning to their raiding guilds, half of these will return shortly though.

Major guild population loss for an extended period of time when Diablo 3 is release.

Minor loss of players for several weeks when Battlefield 3 / Modern Warfare 3 is release.

Minor loss of players for several weeks when new major fighting game releases. (Super MvC3 / SSF4AE:Turbo Edition / SoulCalibur5)

Blizzard expects to see at least 400,000k people leave for TERA, only 10% of those will cancel their subscriptions, 30% will return in 2-3 weeks, an additional 20% in 4 weeks, 50% when a major content patch is released. They have recovered half of the Rift losses already (300k people returned).

If Diablo 3 is released this year, I can see that being the biggest loss of player population, at least in the non-hardcore side of things. Otherwise it should be stable if the release is sometime in the holidays as Diablo 3 will probably hit early Q1 2012.

Being forced to pass on every piece of loot, even to people's offspecs, because I'm a trial in this guild. Passed 4 Full clears of Firelands gear (25 man so there is a fuck ton of it). Then finding out people are complaining about me "Bragging about my DPS" when I don't even say 2 words about it.. Maybe if people gave a fuck about their DPS they wouldn't get out DPS'd by my alt whos two tiers below them. (I'm in 359, they're in full 378+391 pieces)

I bet you can guess how long I'm going to take this shit.

It's not that they are bad, it's just I'm pretty good. :-p I wouldn't have an issue with it so much if it was people's mainspecs but they've been giving tier tokens and dps gear to tanks/healers offspecs over me

Well, better to have a flat distribution of DPS, so that any given person flaking out won't cripple the raid group as a whole. And it looks like their decision is sound, if you're on the verge of flaking out on them after just 4 weeks.

I've been in the guild for 2 years as a social(Pretty much longer than 90% of the current raiders in the guild) They asked me to fill in since they no longer have a Death Knight and give up my weekly lockouts to assist them since they're having trouble with attendance. I'm sorry but to give a Fury warrior another set of 378 legs, of which he already has the same pair of so he can build an arms set to play once in a blue moon while I have 359 isn't exactly fair. And you think it's fair I go a month without getting anything to show for it while people's third specs get gear? Fuck off.

But I'm sure you would be okay with passing a months worth of loot to people's specs they don't even play because you're such an outstanding guy.

Not to mention the guild runs a really tight roster of ~28 people, right now they're having issues even filling the raids, the people who do use two specs in the raid are main spec DPS anyway so there is no "Even distribution" because everyone pretty much always plays the same spec.

Yeah I'd tell them to fuck off with that way of dealing loot, and I'm happy with just killing shit and loot being something that accumulates, but 25man loot pools are retarded enough as is.

I mean obviously you and the raiding team obviously have conflicting goals so why don't you just do the honest thing and resolve things fairly now, before they load you up with gear and responsibility only to have you flake out once you've realized your personal goals.

I mean, you've been wanting a raid spot with them for a long time, now that they're finally giving you one I guess they think they can force you into dealing with it.

I didn't put up with it when they were trying to fuck around with me; no reason for you to take it either. They clearly need you, they should be the ones in the position to be nice.

I don't think they're going to last much longer with how the current state of affairs in there is anyway.. they're falling behind fast in progression and losing raiders faster than they can recruit.

Being the top guild on the server with a top 100 guild rating makes it easy to get people.. now they can't even get people through EJ threads. Not looking good for them. They need Chupa back.
