Designing legendary/relic type of weapon in a non retarded way look hard....
Not really that hard. Should have just set it up so that 25 and 10 got the item at the same rate, 25man slightly faster perhaps, but 25-man can pipeline and 10-man can't.
I just like how they nerfed it after the hardcore guilds or those that are well into HM content got at least one. Its just a nerf to make it slower for the already slower guilds
Most HC 25mans are at or very close to 2 staffs now.
This. It's not really hard at all, it just seems like they are randomly playing with the numbers for no reason at all. If they wanted to fix this droprate, they could have done it over a month ago before 25mans shit out 2 legendaries. The timing on this nerf is some pretty retarded bullshit, and I find it hard to believe not 1 person at blizzard could do the math or realize exactly how this would work out...again though, all they have to do is buff 10mans -last- stage right now, to make it end up at about 5:2 by the beginning of december. Yes, after that it may not work, but hey, they could re-nerf 10man droprate in mid december after giving 10mans a chance to catch up/fix the imbalance, and go from there. Or they could have left it as it was...pretty dumb how bad the ratio is going to be though.
It really is going to be silly if a group goes into a 10man raid with 5+ legendaries next tier though (or hey, 25mans can get 2-3 which 10mans can't even get into their 10man).
Pretty shocked there's been no blue post yet about the hotfixes (reduced heroic rag hp by 15%, reduced smouldering essences)
I guess they're all busy playing the D3 F&F beta.
The real problem is that Blizzard went away from the real reason the ilvl requirement was there to begin with. It was there for 2 reasons. To make sure that players had defeated previous content in order to obtain the ilvl as well as being geared enough to defeat the current content. It was designed as a knowledge check as well as a gear check. We now are sitting in a place where the knowledge check is gone and we live in a WoW that the gear check is meaningless as well. The "average" ilvl system is a poor one as you said. It should NOT include any items that are not on your person. This would produce other issues, but would actually fix a lot more. The problem is we once had a way to determine if you were "ready" to do the heroics, that was a huge grind but it worked. When you stepped into a heroic, you had done the encounters on normal, you knew what was going on and what you needed to do. Now the system is easily "gamed".
The rogue in Katlan's story was just plain bad. He had no clue how to play his class, and him being forced into learning through running dungeons until he got the correct ilvl gear is not the only way to do it, but it is better than letting PvP gear effect ilvl to that degree. Yes that +70 stat is awesome for a new character. Yes for heroics, we do not need as much hit. Yet, there has to be a happy medium. Having more than those 2 pieces of gear is not a detriment, but it isn't a plus either. Blizzard has completely botched the LFD system in this expansion in many ways, letting a couple of 378 items outweigh the other 14 333 or lower blue/greens is a problem. Averaging the numbers isnt good enough, weighing that average by the number of slots that are below the high number needs to be done. If I have 2 378s and 14 333s by ilvl should be closer to 333 not 378.
Pretty annoyed with the whole legendary thing. Being second on the list in a 10m (that is 5/7 HC and will be 6/7 very soon) already was kinda shitty but THIS, I just...
You won't.
Failure's analysis is correct and 2nd in line is February at best, and that's assuming you can convince your guild to keep farming Firelands after 4.3 is out. I guess it makes sense that Blizzard wants to keep this item rare; after all, most guilds only completed 1-2 Val'anyr in 25man in the 4 months ulduar was out.
But it's pretty stupid that they couldn't do the math and figure out that they were on pace for like 8-9 legendaries per 25man by year's end before 11 weeks (and 2 legendaries) into firelands.
This is a kick in the nads for me too, although my guild hasn't really been doing well since 4.2. I'm only at 60/1000 cinders, but being told that the last stage is going to take twice as long now is just soul crushing.
I already hate this place, now I know that my guild will probably be bored and geared from Firelands while waiting for or progressing in 4.3. It's hard enough to even get these fuckers to log in for the raid, exactly what motivation do they have to come back to Firelands and farm this staff so our raid can have an extra 2k DPS? (Maybe not even that, depending on what comes with 4.3..)
But I guess the main thing that pisses me off is how unoriginal the main parts of the quest is. Go gather 25 of these. Go gather 1000 of those. Now go get me 250 of those and one giant ragnaros heart.
Kinda less relevant compared to this latest legendary complaint, but it had been nice to lose Tol Barad for 3 times in a row.
It really feels like a stupid battleground, especially when the only defenders tactic was to rush all together to the same base and re-take it before the attacker side could consolidate the one currently under attack.
Is it possible to get booted from TB? Lately due to the sheer stupidity of people I've just hung out places where people will not usually look and afk'd/youtubed so I can leech honor.
When defending, I just stay in the middle. When attacking, I hide somewhere obscure, or stay in stealth if on Rogue. But never truely afk, incase someone decides to pick up on it. But I can't be assed these days with everyone trying to be commando and calling each other with stupid insults.
EDIT: Regarding gear ilvl/pvp stuff, my warrior is nearly 83, and is HP capped and probably will be JP capped by the time I reach 85. The moment I hit level 85, I fully intend to cheese the system (plus, I know how to play Warrior tank anyway, not much difference between 80 and 85, plus charging around like a bull is uberfun for some reason)) and skip normal dungeons completely:
371 PvP hat (mastery, very good)
371 PvP shoulder (expertise, also good)
Tier11 Body
License to Slay Trinket (reforged to mastery or expertise so I can use it for both DPS and tank)
359 Sword (Soul Blade) or I might cook myself a 365 sword, but I rather not, Soul Blade looks more badass
359 Shield (Lost Blockade Shield. I randomly swooped it up off AH for 2500g when the cooked shield was 3500, although I could cook myself that too, I didn't want to spend my Chaos Orbs)
365 booties from Initial Firelands Quests
365 neck from the same
378 tank bracers if I can be bothered to get some more VP on Rogue who's fully VP'ed out
365 cape from the stupid thrall and his wife quests
Think I got a 353 ring lying around somewhere too, wasn't sure if I should equip it or sell it and just do dailies in Firelands and get the rings there lol (so in this case I'll wear 2x Therazane Revered 346 rings and call it a day)
If some dick of a healer decides I'm unhealable I'm gonna kick him before he can kick me. I hate how some people treat 200+ rating of anything will make or break something, in this case, my 2 PvP items where I will be missing a rough equivalent of 200 ratings elsewhere like Dodge/Parry.
you're quite right, I am on the fence of cancelling my sub. The main thing that's stopping me from actually doing it is: how disappointed would be guild be? and what else would I play to pass the time?and if you hate Firelands that much, I think you probably actually hate WoW so not sure why you're playing
Come to think of it I might see what's up in FFXI if I can get a cheap account.
I know gamestop ran a deal a year ago where you could buy the game+all expansions for 15bucks or something insane like that.
Also complaint; Now that I have the dkp, Domo won't drop my tier shoulder tokens... we went 3 weeks of just getting triple Vanq drops and now only get Conq and Protector >_<. Same for Shannox's axe, dropped every week, now doesnt drop at all for heroic mode. DAMN YOU RNG
Was reading the WoW forums to see what other people thought about the legendary change and saw someone threw together a spreadsheet. I know Fail posted the math earlier but maybe some people prefer to see the information in this format!

I honestly only log on for Tues/Thur raiding and fridays for arena, and even know I have to bring myself to log on for the pve stuff, only to get an axe for pvp honestly. Who knows if 4.3 will keep me playing, depends on what I see, but after Molten Front, i'm not getting hyped about it at all.
