What. the fuck.

I'm killing a rare in Vot4W (the bug one, can't remember it's name, it's green on NPC Scan), kiting the fucker because its blade flurry damn near kills me. I get the bitch down to like 40% and some dude shows up to watch, suddenly the thing is all Evade Evade Evade Evade Evade Evade and I'm like what the fuck! I'm still locked in combat so I can't mount up to catch back up to him, by the time I get there this other asshole has him...

What. The. Fuck. Please tell me it was a glitch and not this guy deliberately fucking me over... /rage.

Not sure. I've never had anyone take a rare from me unless i died. And then I rezzed, watched THEM die, and proceeded to kill it. Because I'm a Hunter, and killing rares is easy, and I only ever die when I'm only half paying attention. The Pet AI is even smart enough to dodge that blade flurry crap. Pretty much the only abilities I need to watch out for are Torrent, Healing Mists, Going Bananas (I can usually sit outside range of this, though), and Bananarang. So yeah, if you want to kill rares, bring a Hunter friend. For Pandaren and Jinyu rares, make sure you have at least two interrupts between the two of you. Hunter can bring two interrupts by himself (pet and silencing shot), so its not a problem.

It just means you ventured too far from where you started combat. Dunno if you've played FFXI in the last few years, but it's a lot like the area restrictions there, except instead of completely despawning like ffxi they just go into evade and fly back.

That is fail. I wasn't going to sit there for 20 minutes clearing potential adds so I'd have a good path to kite.

Though I guess it's better than someone intentionally doing something to cause it to reset so he could steal it.

Might be more likely that you stood on something that the rare couldn't climb onto/hit you from, causing it to go evade mode + run back.

For Pandaren and Jinyu rares, make sure you have at least two interrupts between the two of you.

Yeah, soloing these as a shadow priest was a bitch for interrupting. luckily I was already an engineer to begin with and the http://www.wowhead.com/item=60223/high-powered-bolt-gun made it possible. Silence > bolt gun > silence

If it makes you feel any better I've had alliance sit there watching 2 horde kill me (and barely get me, the rare was at like 10%) then jump in and kill them and take the rare as soon as I died.

I've been noticing a lot of things evade bugging on me lately. I'll be standing in the same spot the whole fight, then all the sudden "evade evade evade" and it resets and aggros again at full health. Then does the same BS. I'm not standing on ground that it can't get to or anything, neither is my pet as it's been bashing it's face in the whole fight.

Hunter is definitely stupid easy to kill rares on. The only ones that can be a bitch at Jinyu and Pandas as mentioned. I guess Hozen can be annoying with their little jump around thing and the Nanner-rang moves so slow. Jinyu just interrupt Torrent and stay out of range for Raindance. Pandas though... fucking heal spam. Bane mentioned having atleast 2 interrupts... I need to use all three on my Hunter. Silence, Scatter and Intimidate. Every single one tries to heal three times in a row. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong as I've watched others kill them and I never see them try to cast more than once. I chew through them rather quick with my cooldowns, but if I miss one of those heals.. ugh.

I had some jackass Belf somehow steal one of the Mogu rares from me. I tagged the thing first, but somehow it gave him credit despite the fact he was still on his mount when my shot hit it. I saw him coming and I knew damn well he was going to try and grab it before me. I've also had a trio of Horde try and harass my Shaman while I was killing a Jinyu rare. They flagged up for PVP and kept trying to stand on the thing hoping I'd accidentally hit them. I'm not sure how AoE works with flagged players, but they were trying their damndest to get me because I got it before them I guess. Even after I killed it they followed me around standing on stuff I needed to target hoping I'd right click on them.

For panda rares, I believe the trick is to wait until the end of their cast to stun them.

As for Going Bananas, scatter shot will end it. Can interrupt the start of the cast or simply get them while they jump.

Will Psychic Scream act as an interrupt for those types of things? I never really paid any attention to whether those would work while Silence is down. Or are the rares immune to it?

Well if that's the trick, it doesn't work for me. I've tried waiting the cast out til it's almost over to try and delay it as much as possible. I've also interrupted as quick as I could when I saw it. Either way I do it they still try it three times in a row. Stupid Pandas.

I didn't even think about Scatter on Going Bananas. I imagine Scatter would work on Raindance as well then?

Edit:
Scatter does work on Raindance just to confirm although there wasn't any reason to believe it wouldn't if it worked on the other rares "special" move.

Weird. I've never seen them cast it more than twice in a row. Could be a timing thing. Also, I typically run around with a tenacity gorilla, so for interrupts I use that (or my nether ray) and silencing shot. I have the bolt gun too if i need it, but i never have.

I never thought of Scatter. I typically sit at max range. I'll give it a try next time I see one.
