DW Frost isn't the only spec choice, just the most bland one.
DW Frost isn't the only spec choice, just the most bland one.
a. it's the best
b. especially if your best weapons are dw weaps it really is the only option
If your best weapons are one hands, sure. As for it being the best, the delta between DW and 2H is miniscule in sims.
If you're just more comfortable with the playstyle or you like the fact that mastery gear can work well for both Blood and DW Frost, that's another matter.
DK is a bit simplistic I'll give you that, but I still absolutely love it. Slamming home obliterate crits is still satisfying.
Playing 2H Frost with Blood Tap or Unholy is more engaging, yes.
Unholy is the tiniest bit "more engaging" due to rp pooling for transform.
2h frost is considerably more mindless than dual wield.
DW and 2h are close to equal on single target, add just a second and DW jumps miles and miles ahead.
Not to mention challenge modes.
Going from my DK to warrior made my hand cramp a little cause I went from pressing 2 buttons to 4. Had to get the mousewheel involved to fix it.
"miles and miles ahead" is an overstatement. 2H uses Obliterate not because Howling Blast sucks for 2H, rather that Might of the Frozen Wastes makes Obliterate better. Gearing for mastery>haste>crit as DW vice haste>crit>mastery as 2H is an advantage, but not nearly as much as you're making it out to be.
2H on multiple targets is still fucking absurd. maybe not as high as masterfrost DW but I still put up retarded numbers.
upgraded to 504 shinka with gem vs 502 elegion+489 elegion the dw won on dps by about 20k with all 3 up on protectors, but the 2h did like 2% more to the boss that mattered
got 509 crescent and ended up like 35k higher than 2h on the whole fight lol
it's actually really simple, they're within a couple percent on single target, dw cleaves a whole lot more by nature, so on the quantities of mobs where 2h doesn't switch to howling blast dw wins by a significant margin
and then of course once you do switch it actually distances even farther due to how you gear it and way bigger fs dumps
Yeah, I wasn't considering the FS dumps for sustained 2H AoE. Oops.
I do think that 2H is the more engaging play style when using Blood Tap. Managing three resources and often having an extra rune or two available for KM procs when you'd otherwise be spending the on FS makes it much more interesting (for me, at least) than spamming HB and FS.

Such a douchebag. There's hardly any information here to be classified as a guide. The notes to the sheets contains a pitiful amount of notes, not even a guide. This is a perfect epitome of douche behaviour. Yet idiots lap it up like it was gold.
More specifically, all I would like is some detailed notes/pointers for soloing 85~ old content. But yet this just sets most people up for suicidal missions. I know most encounters are more or less "do max DPS before it kills you" but I'm not asking for my hand to be held, I know all of the old boss mechanics, but without a sense of direction for some gimmicks of the boss it is very easy to quickly die/wipe. It's trial and error multiple times. Some form of notes will at least reduce this. But this seems too hard to comprehend.
Can't rage about it over there, his army will just not even listen or comprehend.
EDIT: Browsing the ICC shit excuse for a guide:
What the hell.Valithria Dreamwalker (impossible) - Draenei with Gift of the Naaru can possibly do it

Enjoy. You won't find that much about 85 stuff in there, but pretty much everything that's listed as doable in that thread has a solid strategy posted to support it.
oh and if you have questions feel free to ask here and I can either answer or post your question in that thread (you're EU so can't post on US forums right?)
Holy shit now that's a guide/exactly what I was expecting.
Also check my above edit. Laughable? Or am I missing something.
EDIT: Yeh I'm EU. It's fine, I know most bosses and I consider myself an above average DK ^^ -- the notes should be enough to see me through
I believe there was a time where if you could last long enough you could do that because gotn was still 15% of max hp even when you toss it on a boss, but I'm 90% certain they nerfed it cuz it certainly doesn't do that to Tsulong.
It's based on the caster's max HP now, yeah.
Disappointing then hearing that from the presumed "top solo highly respected famous DK" in the "all ultimate guide". Fail.
2 people rolling on sha of fear every week since launch with elder charms, no strength sha touched swords STILL from coin or drop. 10 man RNG needs to be fixed so fucking bad. So livid over this more than ever.
