i get what ksan is saying. the sha are just plain boring enemies. and, since I DID pay attention to the story (until just after Landfall- I established the base, looked at the huge new daily hub, and said fuck this and cancelled my account) I even think I have an inkling of where it's going. But the Sha themselves are boring. The mantids are cool. The yaungol are cool. The mogu are dumb as shit, but allying them with the zandalari made them interesting. but the sha? boring as fuck. Last Pandaren emperor banished his negative emotions for ten thousand years. Now they're angry. That's literally their entire backstory.

Also, I hope you guys liked the green ending in ME3 cos that's where WoW is going.

Aside from a bit of back story about how the Sha were created and later banished, they really don't go too much into it. They're back in full force due to the ongoing war between horde and alliance, but there's not all that much lore around them currently, especially in 5.2. I have a feeling we'll be hearing more about them soon enough though, and my money is on that happening in w/e patch adds the siege of Orgrimmar.

After all, the Sha were created when the titans destroyed the 7 headed old god Y'Shaarj, (the one the Klaxxi worshiped), and as he died each head cursed Pandaria with a different Sha. However there are currently only 6 known Sha in Pandaria, so I'd be willing to be there is a 7th being behind Hellscream and his insanity.

long story short the titans killed an old god, who created the sha with his last breath

shaohao accidentally fed them a shitload of energy (hence the name) by essentially manifesting his negative emotions and imprisoning them, which then seeped out much like the other prisons that have been attempted in dealing with the old gods and their remnants

pandas & co. kept them dormant by being super nice and peaceful, they feed off anger, hatred, etc., so of course we showed up and fucked it all up and now they're out in all their glory


final boss of the expansion is pretty obviously going to be the manifestation of shaohao's evil, presumably appearing when it turns out hellscream was attempting to control the sha but was actually being controlled by it and we have to kill him

also, blizzard to tanks:

Picking up the Alliance or Horde flag while in a Rated Battleground now increases damage taken by 50% for characters in a tanking specialization, and increases damage taken by 20% for characters in a non-tanking specialization.

No, I'm not ignoring anything. That's the only story I found in the game, and I finished every zone, with the exception of a few rep grinds. I wasn't aware of it. I even went and did all the Lorewalker crap.


Which only proves my point: They have this interesting, ominous backstory.... and blizzard hasn't shown any of it. Which makes them fucking boring.

I actually played through WC3 just for the lore. There was a segment where you broke him out from prison so he could help with dropping Azshara or w/e

Im guessing they dont really bother with ingame-info cause every time someone asks/complains they just tell you to read the books or other pre-published snippets of info

I like the WoW lore but in a lot of cases you really do have to look for it. To me, that satisfies the people who want the lore and will go out looking for it, and also the people who just want the gameplay and don't care about the lore, so that way it's not right up in your face.

I will get on these kicks where I go into the wow wikis and read the shit out of everything I can find. Shit is fascinating.

What the shitting fuck? So glad I stopped playing for now, might come back when monks get their super buff if that actually goes through (lol 40% dmg increase on top of the mastery).

Honestly it should count in randoms and not rated if anything, since a well geared tank and 2 healers can basically hold the flag almost forever when you're dealing with retards on either team who can't mass up or time their cds/cc healers.
