I do believe .2-.5% qualifies as pretty rare. If you notice monks a lot that's fine, it doesn't change the simple fact that there are WAY the fuck less people playing them than anything else.

Monk is the rarest PVP class in the game at decent/high ratings, and has been since release. Which is weird because ring of peace in the most broken ability that has ever existed in WOW. Their rare presence as a healer makes sense because they suffer from paladin syndrome - inability to play their character because there is infinite unavoidable instant cast CC flying in every direction.

Here are my thoughts 1. It's the newest class. In PVP people tend to stick to what they've been using season after season, and will only switch if there is a "flavor of the month." 2. It sucked pretty badly in the beginning so people have a negative outlook on it.

As you said, their biggest issue is the CCing; however, they are pretty fucking strong if they aren't getting targeted. My friend is at 1850~ rating atm on his mistweaver, and usually tops the charts in bgs. It really can be a good healer, just most don't know how to play it right.

That isn't true though, top rated Resto shamans like Cdew have picked up and played healer monk and got so frustrated with it so quickly because of how the class lacks in so many ways in PVP. That's more of an overall balance problem than a class problem though, and a problem paladins suffer from as well. I can't remember the last time I saw a paladin healer over 2k in 3's.

DPS monks are in much better shape than healer ones though, I'm not exactly sure why they're so rare, I think it's just because rogues, mages, shadow priests and hunters are waaay over the top right now. Not at least one of those on your team is a sure way to lose, and monk probably doesn't synergize with any of those classes that well.

Keep in mind most of the stuff I say is in relations to rbgs. I don't really do/care about arena. Arena is rough because there's at max 5 people you need to focus, so monk is the easy target in those.

The one isn't the only one I've run with. Like I said like 90% of the time I've got a monk in my rbg. Just because monk is terrible for arena, doesn't mean they're terrible for rbgs.
