All that said, here's the thing:
Arena titles and CM titles cannot be legitimately compared directly. Competitive arena is such a different world from CM runs that there just is no direct comparison to be made. You don't get r1 or glad for holding a high rating for a day. You can't just pop on an alt, get some basic lfr gear, and use it to get a pvp title an hour later.
The problem is this: PvP'ers have been getting screwed for years. The title system of having them removed the next season is completely unfair, something utterly unheard of in the game of WoW outside of said arenas.
We've complained for years and tried everything imaginable to get our titles back. (account wide mounts too, but that's another story)
The only meaningful response arena players have ever gotten is that "oh it's a sign of that season, on that class, and how strong it was then."
8 years after we found out about arena titles.
No progress whatsoever.
Meanwhile, PvE players end up in a similar situation, complain for
A FEW HOURS and bam, granted a permanent title for having held any of 8
server best times, however briefly.
