so most people probably don't know anything about it but I was on a bit of a crusade for a while about pvp'ers getting unfair treatment in terms of titles, and mounts not being account wide, etc.; I actually even got a forum ban at one point for calling a blue a liar

and it's not just me, people have been complaining about titles clearing every season for years, and blizz's response has always been "lol pvp unbalanced tough shit you got carried by class"


so challenge modes got their titles not too long ago... and then they recently announced they'll be cleared at the end of xpac, so as to avoid stuff like the fact that it would just be the last person to get a top time, and making sure the first people to complete new ones don't get a perma-title for being the fastest


NOT EVEN ONE DAY OF COMPLAINTS and they fucking change it, giving anyone that's held any challenge mode title for any amount of time a permanent title, Mistwalker

Actually, the realm-fastest times are more like r1 pvp titles which stay permanently.

sure, if you pretend that you can transfer to a low pop server and have 10 brackets to pick the easiest of to get a r1 glad title and losing to someone didn't set you back in any way shape or form


I mean fuck if r1 glad titles were per server I could have left my pally on malfurion, played a few weeks each season, and have every single one of them with virtually no effort. In like 10 of the 12 seasons since I left, 0 people on the server have gotten glad.

anyway, the point is that pvp titles are clearly extremely unfair and have been so for about 8 years now; a similar thing happens to a pve title and it's changed to make them happy WITHIN ONE DAY

If you want to compare them, then R1 PVP and R1 CM are both titles only available to the #1 group in the population. They stick around forever for R1 PVP, but go away for R1 CM. If you want to compare R1 CMs to the vanilla Gladiator title then you need to explain why the second best CM group on a high-populated server doesn't get any title, temporary or not, when the second best PVP team still gets a Gladiator title to sport for a season.

And btw nobody I know with a R1 CM title is particularly happy about the change. This is one of those half-measures that make everyone irritated.

ah but you see, the second best group (and the third, fourth, fifth, and 20th) does get those titles, as long as they put up their times before the current better ones


but, to answer specifically:

because there's a whole lot more people in a battlegroup than a server, and losing actually sets you back in arena as opposed to CM where you just try again

but really my complaint isn't them getting to keep it, my complaint is that we've been trying to get something done about arenas for 8 years with literally 0 results; pve'ers complain for a few hours and get their most similar situation ever fixed immediately

no, my complaint is that they're the most similar aspects there are between pve and pvp, and it's downright insulting to pvpers to say that the pve version, which is clearly dramatically easier, should be better rewarded...


but even more so that the devs handling it for pve are seeing the issue clearly, while blatantly turning a blind eye to the same shit in pvp

All that said, here's the thing:

Arena titles and CM titles cannot be legitimately compared directly. Competitive arena is such a different world from CM runs that there just is no direct comparison to be made. You don't get r1 or glad for holding a high rating for a day. You can't just pop on an alt, get some basic lfr gear, and use it to get a pvp title an hour later.

The problem is this: PvP'ers have been getting screwed for years. The title system of having them removed the next season is completely unfair, something utterly unheard of in the game of WoW outside of said arenas.

We've complained for years and tried everything imaginable to get our titles back. (account wide mounts too, but that's another story)

The only meaningful response arena players have ever gotten is that "oh it's a sign of that season, on that class, and how strong it was then."

8 years after we found out about arena titles.

No progress whatsoever.

Meanwhile, PvE players end up in a similar situation, complain for A FEW HOURS and bam, granted a permanent title for having held any of 8 server best times, however briefly.

long story short when we complained like this, blues straight up came in and said the classes are imbalanced and that changes over time, so we don't deserve any better; they came in and said the same thing here... and then gave a permanent title to anyone that's ever held one of the titles, however briefly


it's akin to complaints about arena arising for the first time and them saying "ok we're going to give anyone that's ever had the rating for gladiator the title 'Champion of the Arena'," while cm's get everything but the single, character specific mount taken away, AND A NEW TABARD FOR SILVERS!

Fucking Hexos at rank 8. Why the fuck would you make a fight like this, horrible as shit at 250 ping. Even early in the day when i'm at 180 it's still a pain in the ass. Not even mentioning the fact that one of the patterns is just fucking impossible to get out of it seems. Bunch of bullshit.

lolololol, that fight. i did ti recently on my lock; just use your mouse to turn instantly. you cant move otherwise other than turning, so learn your rotation, and get to spinning that mouse, haha

Playing a caster in low level dungeons is so absolutely terrible it blows my mind. I swear the only time i can get a cast off before mobs are dead is on bosses.
