im 3/8 cause fuck dalaran lag. missed one by 30 secs the other day because of the retarded way wow dismounts you... i landed on VH roof and by the time i ran back round the fucker was gone.

I was mining in Nagrand earlier and hit the dismount button, except the game thought I hit the "Slingshot me off the cliffside into the void" button. Thank fuck for Blink and random ledges.

4/8 now but the thing keeps popping the dummy books.

^ This. It took me about a month when I did it, but that was more because of the limited playtime I had at that point. Those two addons made things so much easier, and anytime anyone I know mentions this achievement, I immediately recommend these two to them.

In spite of a lot of physical memory, WoW can really get dogged down by bloated or poorly-written AddOns, you should really do an FPS comparison between your WoW as you play it and after disabling all AddOns.

WoW also does a shitton of disk access, to the point where any other program currently writing to the same drive will visibly impact it. Check for fragmentation/errors on your drive.

Rather annoying seeing how this is a new build. Owell will have to try and tweak some stuff make it a little better.

Even a fresh build can have problems, especially with an install as large and complicated as WoW.

If anything is limiting your game, it's your CPU. WoW will never take up more than two gigs of ram, but it will definitely cap out one of your cores and half of a second one. Some addons can use a lot of CPU time when a lot of events are being generated, like onyxia when there are 50 whelps spawned will cause any damage meter addon or possibly scrolling combat text addon to choke up a bit.

I get lag sometimes running on my 4870X2, it's unavoidable. Hopefully you didn't build the PC just for wow, cause that would have been your first mistake.

WoW natively runs on 2 cores, tweaking it for more when they don't exist doesn't do squat.

If you have a quad or better, then by all means.

Been doing Higher Learning, last 2 books have been depressing as a motherfucker. One was about a mage whos family was killed in the first attack on Dalaran and was trapped to die in some rubble. The other was about a really shit dwarf mage who always got shit wrong, then the one time he actually managed to cast a spell he had walked off before he saw that he had actually managed to cast a spell properly. What a fucking downer.
