Random complaint:
Last night saw deaths choice go to someone doing 2.3k...
I understand it's a PUG, but for christ sake if the person doesn't even have toc 5man gear don't reward them!

no, I got hacked today also... I just installed a new HD/upgrade to w7 last week (full comp wipe), and havent even browsed the internet aside all the usual sites... got hacked while asleep and they transfered my toons to diff servers lol.. custoemr service guy was supposed to reset my pw but he didn't... now on the phone for 2hrs+ waiting to speak to somebody again when this shit shoulda been resolved at 8;30 when i spoke to the first person. Oh yeah... and i forgot the account question that i made 3yrs ago lol.. so i can't change anything manually
Couple of guys in my guild are assholes. Apparently it's illegal to offer suggestions when you've been wiping to Faction Champions for over 2 hours.
The best part is they tried to argue that the Champs don't have threat and Feign Death / Fade don't work and I just have to run faster and use pvp trinkets, etc.
1) desktop PC fails, better laptop should perform better at minimum setting right? wrong, never seen such a vile mess of 0.1fps in a raid + screen tearing at once, shocking. ironically it does 30fps in dala when my desktop could barely manage 1. idk what this crap is but i'm just gonna wait till my new desktop is built before trying to raid. D:
2) my guild is full of twats, i mean seriously, having an "idle conversation" about how gays should be sent to concentration camps and stuff, then when told to stfu by an officer, going "oh but this is a family and families have discussions"? if i were actually related to/knew any of these people in rl i would have disowned them and/or called the police and had them sectioned if they started that shit.
then they started discussing the middle east and i turned off gchat lol

If they don't have threat then why does Feign Death work? Why do they have threat tables? Just because they don't have normal threat mechanics doesn't mean they don't have threat. Blizzard is hardly going to design an encounter where there is no way whatsoever of getting those mobs off you, they hit too hard and you are going to die, simple as that. This is why so many TOC pugs fail, because people don't understand they can't rely on their healers for this fight, they have to look after their own survival.
Anyways, i've already argued enough with my guild, I'm not going to do it again here, if you don't believe me read this:

Or you could try it yourself. Whatever works best for you.
I'm beginning to believe that there are assholes in every guild to be honest. After about the 15th attempt I decided to do a little bit of research to find out why our Lock couldn't keep the Druid CCd and I get told that I should know the tactics prior to coming to the raid. In future i'll just keep quiet and demand repair bills. :/2) my guild is full of twats
It sometimes works, other times it won't. Their threat mechanics are wierd, all I know is that they've stopped chasing me many a time after using Fade. Feign Death works 100% of the time, at least in my experience.Fade will work for about half a second, but if you use it after they're already chasing/on top of you you're probably dead anyway because of the aforementioned mechanics for their threat tables.
My theory...
The Shaman champion(s) tend to drop totems at predictable intervals from my observation, most notably when they change targets; this leads me to believe the group's global logic "pulses" to obtain threat values and redirect accordingly. Thus why sometimes Fade seems to work and other times doesn't; since it simply drops all threat you yourself generate, if they happen to pulse right after you hit it then your threat is still at the top mark and they keep chasing you anyway.
FD works all the time because the game considers the Hunter dead, for all intents and purposes.
So what does it take to find a good guild that doesn't have completely retarded fail leadership these days? I used to be in a pretty good guild when ulduar was new and in full swing but I got busy and couldn't make the raid hours anymore so I stepped down. I came back when I could devote time to raiding again and the guild moved on, got full, ever since then its been just fail guild after fail guild with stupid leadership who allows fail people to stick around and have stupid cliques.
I don't really get it, in FFXI I joined 3 guilds total, stayed with one for nearly 5years and pwned shit daily. In WoW I just want to show up to the scheduled raid, pwn shit or wipe progressing till raid time is over then move on to my normal routine the rest of the night.
So i ask, is it really that hard to find a guild that takes shit seriously these days?
Eh, my guild is a 10-man guild, that's because we're only 8 people that have been raiding together for a couple years (most of the others have been together since vanilla) and the reason we're only a 10-man guild is because it sucks finding another 15+ people that fit personality and skill-wise into the group. It's also a lot of work and our GL and only one capable/willing to lead is in med school.
I didn't say it was random.
I said they don't have threat.
They DO NOT have threat. Period. "Threat reduction" does absolutely nothing whatsoever.
They have patterns and systems you can use to manipulate the encounter.
They do not have threat.
For the same reason Feign Death actually works on people in bg's and 1200 arenas... they're fucking retarded and they think you're dead.If they don't have threat then why does Feign Death work?
And they stopped chasing you when you used fade because you either got out of range or got healed to full.
I can tell you the mechanics of the fight a hell of a lot better than that particular maintankadin thread does, in fact it's downright wrong in some aspects.
Fade doesn't increase your armor. Fade doesn't make you suddenly farther away. Fade doesn't put you at a higher raw health number. Fade doesn't increase your resistance. These are the determining factors in who FC mobs attack, with raw hp number and proximity being the biggest effects by far. Armor/resist is more of a long term factor in predicting who will be attacked next.
I don't care what your omen says when you push the button, it does not affect who they're attacking.
You mean like the 15 times I've done it on normal 10, the 9 times on heroic 10, the 12 times on normal 25, and the 7 times on heroic 25? Only counting my main, of course.Or you could try it yourself. Whatever works best for you.
Not trying to "go there" but seriously don't assume because you read something at such and such place it's absolutely 100% fact and anyone that disagrees is dumb and inexperienced. The last time I explained how to manipulate the mechanics to someone he showed his guild the next day and they 1 shot 25 man for the first time.
Fade works on faction champions. It reduces the chance you are going to be attacked. Just like taunt forces a mob to target you. Both still work in that fight, even if that's not their PvP mechanics.
Taunt doesn't work in heroic at all, and in normal modes it does not change "threat" whatsoever, it forces them to attack you for x amount of time.
There are 2 different parts to taunt.
There are not 2 different parts to fade.
Taunt forces them to attack you.
Fade forces them to not attack you.
Fade has NEVER not worked for me and it's generally the first button I press upon being attacked and with the way "threat" works in the fight I should only be MORE likely to be attacked as I take damage, but I fade and it's a non-issue.
The Faction Champions have threat. Omen aside, even Blizzard's own API proves this. If they didn't, you wouldn't see varying quantities of red/yellow/no aura on their health bar aggro indicators among the champs as you move around/get hit. Your threat is directly proportional to the mechanics outlined in that article, no more no less. If you have threat, Fade CAN work, but since they drop their threat tables every few seconds and reevaluate it doesn't always work well. FD works consistently because it's a binary target=dead/nodead logic.
+1 for them having threat, you can modify your threat versus the faction champions in the traditional ways, but they also have their own special rules around which their threat is recalculated every ~5 sec. Any threat actions you take might seem like they're not having any effect outside of large aggro drops (fade, feign). Even though they seem chaotic they are actually quite methodical.
