Maybe he just needed the gold. i mean its not like you can make money easy in this game.

What are you talking about, it's so easy to m---..... Oh you got me![]()
This isn't a very good attitude to have, considering the total lack of effort required on the part of the disenchanter. Blizzard has now completely removed the burden from DE'ing group members and to turn around now and get grabby with the BoP loot you want to disenchant for your own profit is the pinnacle of Mt. Dickmove.
New Complaint: Blizzard please just auto-distribute the frozen orb at the end of heroic. Too much fucking crying about folks rolling need, only to run into That Guy who waits for everyone else to roll Greed before yoinking it and disbanding.
Total lack of effort? It's like the most expensive tradeskill to level. When I do heroics, I want to at least be able to determine who gets to leech off of my work. That, or make skinning/mining/herb/engineering mats gotten in dungeons rolled for. Shit is fucking up the enchanting market. (Yes, I'm one of those guys who never told anyone that I was an enchanter in heroics, unless it was with friends.)
Odd, I normally make money when I level enchanting. Now if all I do is buy all the mats and trash them I lose a TON of gold. But if I buy cheap greens to DE or send over greens from some other characters tradeskills for DEing I can normally make bank leveling enchanting.
Edit: Now for my opinion on the matter: I love it. My paladin is an enchanter but I don't care. So what? What it does now is it makes enchanting on par with jewelcrafting with most profit coming from doing enchants for tips.
Surprised people are even making much from enchanting now, i went to 3 different servers and saw infinite dust for 20g a stack, overflooded dream shards for 15g and cosmic essences for 8g a pop.
See a lot of people qq'ing about no tips either on trade.
I'll be honest, I leveled my tradeskills (450 Enchanting and Tailoring, my 70 Warrior from BC days is capped on Mining and Blacksmithing) exclusively for my own benefit. If I'm really bored and some jackass isn't sitting in Orgrimmar, I'll help someone out by throwing an enchant on stuff. I've never asked for a tip and I've never not gotten one. Right now, I've been saving up my Dream Shards to collect the remaining vendor formulae just in case someone in the guild or Trade needs work done and I'm available to do it, but I don't sit around applying 'chants.
From the point-of-view of someone who really only enchants his own armor, the new feature isn't so bad in that I'm not paying through the nose by destroying every quest green or blue I get. But I still don't like the idea that Johnny Jackoff with 2500 gearscore leeching along in my Heroic group collecting all of my enchanting materials because he hit Disenchant and the RNG is being nice to him. The other day I wanted to punch someone because a Je'tze's Bell dropped in our run and one of the 'tards hit Disenchant on that fucker. Guess who won it. 1500-2000 gold turned into an Abyss Crystal that I can barely sell for 30 gold. In fact, it's actually more profitable right now to shatter them into dust and essence. That'd be like making more money from leather scraps than Arctic Furs.
Just look at it this way: think back to Mount Hyjal. What miner was happy about sharing out his epic gems? Here on Mal'ganis, it wasn't even guaranteed that it would've been a guild run, so you've got a bunch of pugs of varying levels of skill and commitment trying to lay claim to your hard work. Getting Mining to 450 is a great deal less effort than Enchanting, though. That one guy who hangs back and skins every dragon in Utgarde or Nexus or Violet Hold and gets to pocket an Arctic Fur or two while slowing the group down is also irritating.
Calling bullshit here. It doesn't take a fortune to level it to 375, the skill required to DE unwanted epics in heroics/raids. Enchanters wanna be greedy and get free mats, AND take tips whenever they do so much as Crusher on your gloves. Fuck that, I'm pressing Disenchant and kicking folks who Need on BoPs to take mats for themselves.
Besides, my 'total lack of effort' meant that the Enchanter doesn't need to greed everything and manually disenchant it, unstack the shards, sort /rolls and trade them one by one while everyone else jets. An increase in greed as the effort required to DE unwanted drops is the shittiness I'm railing against.
I never told groups I was an Enchanter. You could greed on some piece of shit blue drop and vendor it, I'd go and use my expensive tradeskill to turn it into materials for raising that tradeskill. Since some people apparently only like to level gatherer professions or ones that have next to zero profit margin (/wave Leatherworking), I guess you are all jealous of those of us who expended a lot of time, money, and effort into a skill that eventually pays.
But let's put it like this: would you accept if Blizzard made it so that all lockboxes are automatically opened if there is a Rogue in the group? No need to find a Rogue, no need to pay him for his leveled services, just exploit the fact that he exists and to hell with the effort he put into leveling Lockpicking. Same deal with vendoring BoPs to buy shards from me or hoarding greens and asking me to shard them for you.
And what is it with people misunderstanding the concept of a "tip"? A tip is an optional thing, even if Americans seem to consider it compulsory. A fee is a different concept. The only people I ever see charging fees? Jewelcrafters. Go shout at them for making gold hand-over-fist. Enchanters lose money when leveling because our only option in terms of gathering is to destroy money now (quest rewards and random drops) in hopes of regaining it later in the form of tips and fees.
This, a thousand times. I dropped 5k gold on enchanting even though I ran a ton of dungeons for mats. I made a nice sum being able to get mats out of the shit I won in dungeons by not telling anyone I was an enchanter, and by the time this patch hit I probably still hadn't broken even. Now the enchant market is crashed because of this bullshit and all I can do is watch trade for people wanting an enchant so they can not tip me.
It's like leveling skinning and having the leathers go to random people in the group whenever I skin something.
I liken it more to JCing. Do JC's get to keep all their gems that drop (granted this doesn't work for epic levels because of how you get epic gems...) or does everyone roll for them?
When do you think most other professions make money? BS/LW/etc. when they make something, JC/Enchanting when they cut/enchant something.
And 5k to level enchanting? Don't come in here with your costs for power leveling a profession and claim that makes your profession expensive or something. BS/Engineers are far more expensive to level and there's very little profit in those professions.
I don't know what it is about Enchanters, but they really have this aura of entitlement to profits just because their craft is expensive, as if somehow those who leveled any other tradeskill didn't drop similar cash on it, are 'doing it wrong' or don't deserve any kind of respect. No, because you leveled enchanting and because it's so expensive or something you are a special snowflake deserving every possible opportunity for profit and every green/blue that drops in a dungeon is yours not for the likes of those grubby non-enchanters in your group. Nuh-uh, I'm an enchanter, I need that shard.
I'd fucking love this. No more fumbling around with trade windows, someone rolls on a lockbox and bang it's unlocked in their inventory. No more people mailing me locked boxes with 'unlock plz,' wasting postage money + me fumbling around my spellbook for Pick Lock, and hey, I'd get 10x more usage out of that ability.
And let me clarify something that you seem to have missed, when other people are clicking 'Disenchant' it's NOT to vendor the blue or find a DE'er later to dust it, champ. In fact, it's to save you the trouble and make shards cheaper, which helps everyone.Same deal with vendoring BoPs to buy shards from me or hoarding greens and asking me to shard them for you.
It doesn't help me as an Enchanter trying to turn a profit. Instead of being able to sell off those shards at a price reasonable to what they're worth, I get people begging for X or Y and then complaining if it costs them anything. Yesterday someone was pitching a serious fit about the cost of a Scroll of Enchant Weapon: Healing Power (the +29 SP one from Molten Core) while being fully aware of how rare the enchant is and that it's a twink item, therefore subject to significant inflation by its nature. Listening to someone say, "I got a free Berserking from running dungeons," makes me grind my teeth, especially because those same people are inclined to tip even less.
Seriously, Abyss Crystals are selling for less than I'd get by blowing them up. I can barely make shards of any kind move. Scrolls have bottomed out and it was hardly uncommon for them to be below the cost of materials, anyhow. The disenchant option is a convenience for cheap and lazy people but a serious kick to the balls for Enchanters. I never said I'd roll need on an item just for the sake of lining my pockets, I've rolled greed (or even passed, if I couldn't be bothered) for years now. If the RNG wants to favor me with winning an item that I'll tear apart later, then hurray. Right now, people get to use my tradeskill entirely without my consent and destroy my market and I still don't get a cut of those Arctic Furs, epic gems, or rare herbs.
What tradeskills do you have? I've leveled Blacksmithing (with Mining) and Leatherworking (with Skinning) and they're both break-even at worst. AND you get to actually profit by selling off useless quest greens. Going from 70 to 80 in Northrend, you probably pick up something like 5-7k in gold from quests and dead mobs and vendor trash, then another 3-5k from quest greens and blues. I don't get that figure, I lose it. Then I spend a fortune in potential profit to collect various recipes, many of which are useless in the game and only serve as a means of gaining skill. At the end of it, I hit 450 and it'd take several months of dedicated enchanting just to break even. Let's not even talk about what an unholy money sink my Tailoring has been since I can't give away any of my products and the last several levels involve dozens of cooldown cloths. The mats for, say, Spellweave Gloves cost around 700 gold and the gloves themselves sell for around 120 gold.
Heaven forbid I try to use my tradeskills to actually make a profit from time to time.
"Crashing the enchanting market"? What the hell? Prices for enchanting mats haven't changed at all on my server (Shadowmoon) post-3.3. If anything, they've gone up very slightly.
Tradeskills, except gatherers, are glorified stat increases to your character now. Get over it.
I fail to see any 'kick in the balls' when Enchanting has consistently been the biggest moneymaker for anybody since Vanilla, hands down over every other non-gathering tradeskill in the game. Yes they are cheap now but wait until Random LFG stops being the New Toy everyone plays with and the demand for enchants skyrockets because suddenly folks are churning through new gear in the next ICC unlock.
Markets change, and you're not always going to see the same profit margins month to month. Welcome to economics 101: Cry Moar Noob. Between my alts I've leveled every tradeskill in the game except leatherworking/skinning, most to 450. I level gathering professions for pure profit and tradeskills for the benefit it provides to my classes, not because I have starry-eyed dreams of the profits that come rolling in. You want to make REAL money? Stop leaning on others to tip you for your valuable gaming time and do what the genuinely rich do to keep themselves above 200k gold all year round.
Yeah, damn those cheap and lazy people in your dungeon groups who until now were killing the mobs for you and showering you with unlimited amounts of no-questions-asked enchanting materials. The disenchant option is a convenience for cheap and lazy people but a serious kick to the balls for Enchanters.
I only really enchant my stuff and friends. No point in advertising. Like some people here, I never told groups I was an enchanter when I'd run with people either. Everybody wants to Greed? Fine with me.
Ouch. I know what you mean. The past two days I've seen a Signet of Edward The Odd go to somebody who wasn't even doing 700 dps and a Battered Hilt to somebody who was pretty much just auto-attacking.
As far as requiring others to help get mats in dungeons, I don't know about others, but before using the random tool for the achievements I'd just solo run heroics to pick up everything myself. (inb4 nerf prot plds)
