I thought about a thread, but it's still so far off. I loved the first, didn't actually play the second some I'm watching a "Let's Play MP2" on Youtube to get the whole story. I'm really excited because this has great potential if they pull it off. Hell the movie had great potential based off the story, but they fudged that... We'll have to wait and see. I mean some games go years between the announcement and release, but this seems a tad rushed or they were great at keeping it underwraps. I mean we knew a third one was planned shortly after the release of the second, but had no more info beyond that.

Yeah, they say winter but no official release date, and no actual gameplay video.
If they show some more at E3 then maybe, but for no just a waiting game.

The latest issue of Game Informer has some juicy new details on Rockstar’s Max Payne 3. Max is now bald, bearded and addicted to pain killers. Which has an affect on the gameplay. Max has hit rock bottom in every sense of the word and has found himself in Sao Palo, Brazil. Max Payne 3 is looking visually very similar to Uncharted 2 (stunning), with vibrant colors and fully destructible environments - all powered by Rockstar’s RAGE engine and a procedural animation system. Expect tons of battle in urban ghetto Latin American neighborhoods with plenty of new weapons. Bullet Time is back in but will be more visceral and ultra-violent. Even more good news is that Max Payne will indeed feature an online multiplayer mode. Max Payne 3 is slated for a Winter 2009 release on PS3, 360 and PC. I have yet to play Mass Effect 1 + 2 but I hear Marcus Fenix is a pretty awesome badass.

Can't wait. I absolutely love this series. Went back numerous times. I especially love MP2. Only true complaint I had with 2 is the length. MP was the first Xbox game I ever bought.

Is anyone else really starting to get tired of all the balding male protagonists in games these days?

If that cover is what Max is to look like, I can't see myself finding him to be a likable character this time around given his physical appearance.

I think it comes down to either developers being lazy, or if they do focus on the characters hair it may cause slow-downs with the rest of the game if there is a lot of action on screen... I really don't know but I would probably go with the former. But I have to agree with you on the getting tired of them part. I wouldn't go as far as to changing what I think about them just because of it.

Also I've noticed, if the person does have quite a bit of hair, it is usually covered up (Assassins Creed, Prototype etc.).

God forbid the hair will make the game run any slower than all that loose crap they have on their clothing that's already blowing in the wind as well as casting shadows on self and nearby objects.

Metal Gear Solid 4 has to be one of the better looking games this generation, and even it has fully rendered 3d hair that blows in the wind.

Is it just me, or does anybody else cringe when they see a game like Max Payne (story driven) is including "Multiplayer On-line". Most games with that feature are severely lacking in story and length.

You are totally right, MGS4 had a horrible and linear Story because of its online capabilities.
