I don't think it's that terrible to point out that intelligent design is not an entirely scientific theory at this point.

Enjoy your lawsuit texas.
Also wow at the republican party blatantly supporting McLeroy, it's official folks, the republican party supports being stupid and hating science.
Someone light the Mizango Beacon
As a native Texan, I am SO GLAD that both counties where I have property here in Texas are both BLUE counties! And although now we have Barack Obama as our President, in essence, we still have lolBush in Texas.
Most of the current state government here in Texas are all "FOB's" (Friends of Bush) and any time I see them on TV, especially this BS about teaching against science and the theory of evolution, I can't help but /facepalm.
This is retarded, seriously.
10,000 years ago? Has this guy ever been to a museum with dinosaurs on exhibit? How can someone be so god damn ignorant and then somehow be allowed to pass law based on their ignorance.
At first I was like: What's wrong with an intelligent discussion of modern societies beliefs in reference to the origin of life?
And then I was like: Oh, it's Texas.
Never understood the obsession Americans have against evolution, which is never an issue in most of other developed countries. I mean you can look it up online in 5minutes and understand the framework of the theory and make sense of how lives evolved since the primordial times.
In my opinion, high schools should be stipulated by federal and state laws to teach of the following,
Sex education
Personal finance
Evolution and other essential basic science
They are going to benefit everyone tremendously for the rest of his or her life.
Connecticut has disowned Bush, and we have disowned him so as far as we care hes from Texas. The state representative for my district tried to rename a street after him in New Haven, and got laughed at 5 years ago, I can't see that happening in Texas. Honestly, though this shit has gotten consistently shot down by the court system since Scopes, Relifags can flail their arms all they want, their shit will get nowhere fast. Also, time to start sending them Flying Spaghetti Monster petitions to make sure that is included in the new curriculum as well?
You are looking way too much into this. I think his main problem is that most text books ONLY teach evolution, and don't explore anything else. And that would be the equivalent to every text book ONLY teaching creationism. People would belly ache about that the same way everyone is now.
Your ignorance is showing. Science books only cover evolution but not creationism for a reason. "Teach the controversy" or "teach kids both sides of the issue" is a false choice used to legitimize creationism. Creationism, or religion in disguise, is not science and does not belong in a science class.
There is a thing called "Separation of Church and State". By adding Creationism into schools, that puts the Church right into the middle of the State's affairs, and that's not right in my book.
This BS is almost like when Mormon boys come knocking on your door early in the morning to try and talk to you and eventually convert you. You know how annoying that is?
I just noticed where MarkM is from.... "East Texas" I hope you're not from a certain town where a guy (African American) was chained to a truck and dragged until his body fell apart.
Fellow Texan here, and this is just downright embarrassing. Though I guess I shouldn't be surprised with ignorant fucks like Dr. McLeroy as a school board chairman. It saddens me in knowing that my younger cousins, not yet in school, may be exposed to this. Generally saddens me that they're exposed to America's pathetic public school system, period. This country is in a shitty state as is, we don't need shit like this passing and making it worse.
Show me in the Constitution where it specifically says "Separation of Church and State", and as said in the article a large percent of the population finds the theory of evolution to be taught. Also, I have a lot of friends that are teachers here in Texas, and most of them just breeze through the whole subject in less than a day because of the drama.
Teaching creationism isn't trying to convert people to one religion or another, it's teaching how a certain segment of the population believes the world began, not the fundamentals of said religion.
