    www.donotcall.gov

It works. It does the same as physically telling them to put you on their "Do Not Call List". I have my cell phone and house number registered and I haven't gotten a Telemarketing Call in as long as I can remember.

I threw my # at my office up there the other day. I don't know if those work b/c it's not a residential line, but we will see in about 2 more weeks I guess :-p.

    I always get the:

*FOG HORN!!!!!!!!* "How would you like to set sail with such and such cruise line!!"

    and

"Can I speak to the person who handles your natural grade gas bill"

Those come in at least 4 times a week at work. Hopefully not anymore after the 31 days is up.

Follow the money? Someone could get a prepaid visa and give the number to the crooks. Plenty of people willing to pay $50 to make that shit go away

The foghorn call makes me chuckle, I get that at work from time to time.

As for the warranty calls, I used to get them on my cell phone but was always too busy to answer. I answered one day and it was an actual person. I asked if they were from Honda and they replied no. I said I wasn't interested & havn't got a call since.

They don't care that it's illegal; they hide their identity and make it extremely hard to find them for prosecution.

I wonder if the B.B.B can do anything about it? They are usually really good about laying down the hammer against shady practices?

I've considered stringing them along just to see if I can wring out more information about them, like the name of their business, address of their corporate offices, etc. etc. But in the end it's too frustrating and my time is more profitably spent elsewhere. Besides, it's been about two months since they last tried to call me.

    lolwat?

A company whose rating has no bearing, policies have no way to be enforced, and who relies entirely on *voluntary compliance* lays down the hammer? BBB is a joke, in-case you missed it.

They have helped me out quite a few times personally. So I can't relate to your qualms

I thought I was the only one getting these annoying calls. It went from the car thing to a credit card scam now.

I used to get the calls bt it stopped when I put my phone on the do not call list. Whether it's a coincedence or not, I couldn't tell you.

^I did the same for mine and I stopped getting calls. Save the Children recently started to call but I asked them kindly to remove me off their contact list or I'd never donate again lol ;o

My bank doesn't call me as much any more. They'd ask me to join this, try that, etc. However, I got tired and the conversation would go something in the veins:

Bank Rep: Is this x y?
    Me: Yes.
Bank Rep: Hi, we are calling you from Wellsfargo...
Me: Let me interrupt you there for a sec. (you have to or they'll never let you speak).
    Bank Rep: Okay.
Me: Is this about my checking or savings account?
    Bank Rep: No.
Me: Am I going to get free money?
    Bank Rep: No.
Me: Sorry, I'm not interested, have a nice day, etc.

    /hangs up.

I got a call at 4am from an 839-9999 number (no area code at all). Googled it, too (scam). Man was I fucking PISSED.

If I get a call that is unknown, I send it straight to voicemail. If it is someone/thing important, they better fucking leave one. If it's a friend I don't know, they follow up with a text anyhow.

Whenever the factory warranty people call me or my friends cell phone we just turn it into a semi prank call, hilarity ensues.

    I've gotten the similar calls like this... offering prizes or insurance and telling me my car warranty is expired, but all in spanish lol. There's another one that says "Usted haz ganado un premio! Oprima el numero 2 para obtenerlo." (You've just won a prize! Press 2 to receive it!) I never press anything since I don't want any funny charges on my phone bill <_<;

It was this scam that made me start declining every phone call that wasn't from my own area code.

Ya Wells Fargo is terrible. I cant even go into the local branch here without them hitting me up for something. Now I just drop deposits off in the night box and use an atm for cash.
