I've been tanking endgame in some form or another for around 2.5 years, not as long as some, not as extensively as other, and longer than some.

In that time I've always blinked for actions, even when it was on a PS2 with limited ability to swap gear around, in a /shout Sky LS full of random people that had never done anything beyond an XP PT.

I have never, ever, ever, ever died from a mage not being able to cure me or -na me because of my blinking, so just cannot imagine why it's a problem, especially now that SE made it idiot-proof to target PT and Alliance members.

Yes it will . . . Unless you use BlinkMeNot which isn't available to everyone. Are you a fucking retard and cannot see someone posting those exact symptoms I stated?

No, Blinking too much is for noobs. Again, read the arguments in the thread I linked and you will see that blinking for EVERY ACTION is fucking retarded, because you have no control over what gearset you need.

If you're capped on enmity, you are blinking for NOTHING. You are more flexible by determining what gearset you want to be in for certain parts of a fight. You can help everyone around you by not blinking like a fucking idiot.

I'm not saying DON'T BLINK AT ALL, I'm saying blink for JA's, swap different gearsets in for different situations, and use hidden gear swaps for the rest. It is win/win for everyone and you don't look like a fool.

You're right, you are probably more efficient not blinking like an idiot by knowing what gearset you need and swapping into that and optimizing the entire fight.

Capped on hate? use more haste and DD gear.
Low on mp? use refresh gear.
Just starting out? focus on haste and enmity.
Getting pwned? use -% damage taken gear.

It's not rocket science here ppl. . .

That you seem to only troll blinking threads, post your own opinions as fact, and never offer any helpful information.

Not to mention that you won't even tell us who you are in-game, so I tend to take all of your posts as failed trolling attempts.

Please prove me wrong and post something useful, even well thought out suggestions.

My posts are helpful for someone who is reading both sides to this argument. It's a different playstyle that is just as efficient. Get it through your thick heads, there isn't only 1 way of doing things.

I don't believe that I've ever posted anything regarding PLD playstyle and noted it as fact, please correct me if I am wrong about this with what I did post. Or you could continue to personally attack me with insults such as calling me "thick-headed", when you have no idea how I play PLD or how my support functions.

There is not 1 way of doing things, I assure you that I am quite aware of this, and I don't feel that I've ever said anything to the opposite effect, with the possible exception being that there is no excuse for people to die because they are blinking.

This is not my opinion, this is a macro system that SE implemented to prevent situations like that happening, that is a fact.

People may choose to not use these macros, but that does not detract from the fact that they are an option for people to use.

I wasn't even posting anything to do with you. . .

If you assume not blinking is inefficient, then yes I am talking to you. Otherwise, if you can agree that there is another playstyle NOT BLINKING that is just as efficient as BLINKING LIKE AN IDIOT, then no I wasn't talking to you.

Yeah pretty much the response I expected, I'll go back to ignoring your posts, a lesson I should have learned from the previous blinking thread.

You've been throwing around "efficient" so much it almost makes me wonder if you know what the hell the word means. How could you possibly think that doing all actions in one gearset while only swapping in neck/earrings/rings/back/belt could be JUST AS EFFICIENT as swapping in/out everything? You can gain so much more enmity/haste/+MDB-MDT/-Phys/acc swapping the other slots that it's logically impossible to be just as efficient.

I'm really having a rough time understanding how someone could be so retarded. I know I'm just feeding a troll, but fuck it.

Well, you see here young grasshopper, let me teach you.

When your enmity is capped, you gearswap to lets say haste/accuracy. From this gearset, when you cure or cast ichi, you are not LOSING hate because you have less enmity since you are already capped.

When you are being pummled, you swap to damage reduction gearset. Trying to get ichi and ni up, while blinking out of ur damage reduction is dumb.

When your on your last ni shadow, and ichi is down, you swap to shield skill and then cast ichi. Always swapping to shield skill or haste to recast ichi is DUMB. If you're controlling the fight, you can cruise with haste. If you're shadows are getting stripped too quickly, then no amount of haste will save you. In this case, stay with the shield gear or damage reduction gear.

Got it? Since you have more control over the situation and what you can wear, not forcing the same equip for each action, you are gaining "efficiency".

You dont "cap" emnity, emnity decays and you are constantly having to get back to the cieling.

Idling in damage down sets allow you to take less damage(die less) and lose less emnity between recasts. Idling in DD build helps you spam atonement.

Macroing in emnity/haste for utsu and flash helps you get to the cieling faster and regain that lost hate from AoE or damage. You arent "casting in your damage down set".

You are a troll and a moron, and everyone here has called you on it.

You have added NOTHING to any of these threads besides OBVIOUS fallicies that "not blinking is just as efficient" when that is 100% untrue.

Go jump off a bridge and save us the next 2 pages of your moronic posts "teaching" us how 30 more emnity in my actions, 15% more haste in my casts, and 20% less damage taken makes me "just as efficient" as your lazy pathetic ass.

    Just die.

So you're arguing against people using the same gear swaps for every macro in every situation? Not arguing blinking?

Ok neo, if you want to get technical.

    1. With 15% haste in gear, Haste spell, and marchx2, you are capped out at haste. Last I heard, you can get 15% haste with speed/v belt, homam hand, homam legs, homam feet.

So how are you getting 15% more haste than I am? You can achieve 30% haste as pld? The cap is 26% haste anyways for gear, so you fail at that.

    2. Of course enmity decays. But it doesn't decay at a rate so fast that you need a hundred million enmity+ to recap it. 1 utsusemi or a self cure inbetween flashes is enough to cap hate forever barring you don't do something stupid. Along with all your pld JA's if you cannot cap hate with +32 enmity (bmask, sattva, herc, hades+1 x2, ritter, homam hand, trance belt, valor cape) then you suck. You can add a +4 from valor or +9 from hydra, but that should not make or break your enmity.

So, how are you getting +30 more enmity than I am? You aren't, you are stacking way too much enmity for little to no benefit once enmity is capped.

    3. You can idle only in haste/acc or damage reduction, not both.

WAIT, if have a great idea. Why don't we just write a script to constantly change gears while idle so that I can get the benefit from both haste/acc AND damage reduction. . . fucking moron!

You are trivializing the decay rate of emnity, the amount of emnity lost from the damage you take, and the extra damage you take over me from inconsistent builds and higher recasts.

Also, you can post your gear and Ill point out where my swaps are superior.

Edit: Ill post mine so you can compare:

    Flash:
Baha Mask (I should use turban here theoretically max haste is better, but I like the mask). 8 Emn
    Hydra haubert: 9 emn
    Homam hands/legs/feet: 9% haste, 3 emn
    Valor cape: 3 emn.
Swift belt: 4 haste (ya I need to get Velocious, but not a priority atm).
Hades+1 (2 emn, I leave my ethereal on full time as a constant source of damage -> mp)
    Ritter gorget: 3 emn.
    Rings: Sattva/Blitz
    Weapons/Ranged not applicable.
    Total: 14% haste(19% with turban), 31 emnity(+emnity from weapons).

    Utsu:
Turban, homam hands/legs/feet, swift, blitz, emnity in other spots. (kaiser head, AF+1 feet, shield torque, and shadow mantle for ichi):
19% haste for ni, 10% for ichi(with 24 more shield skill).

    pld/nin idle (hybrid survival build):
Kaisar head, ares body, homam hands/legs, af+1 feet, shadow mantle, parade gorget(or shield torque), cassie earring/ethereal, Sattva/Changes by mob, swift belt or hp belt depending on mob.
24 shield skill, and nice vit/hp buffer to keep from being one shotted.

    pld/nin atonement spam:
askar head, ares body or homam body, homam feet/legs/hands, swift, cucl's mantle, PCC, suppa/ethereal (and joytoy ofcourse).
    17% haste, 49 acc.

    pld/nin JA emnity:
Baha mask, Hydra haubert, Valor+1 hands, Iron Ram legs/feet, Warewolf belt, Valor cape, ritter gorget, Herc/sattva, hades+1.
45 emnity, not counting weapons or merits.

    pld/war idle (straight tanking )
Kaisar head, Ares body (or Valhalla if mp is fine), valor+1 hands, Kaiser legs, af+1 feet, warewolf belt, shadow mantle, shield torque, cassie earring, ethereal, sattva/other ring changes, lamia kama+1.
24 shield skill, nice vit/hp combo, and good defense.

pld oshi~ (terror or stoned or just unable to block)
Valhalla head/body, valor+1 hands, kaiser legs, askar feet, warewolf belt, shadow mantle, cassie earring/ethereal, satvva/other ring changes, ritter gorget, kaman+1.
Damage down, defense, vit, hp, mantle proc rate.

    Pld MDB:
Iron ram head/feet/hands/legs, Lamia mantle+1/kaman+1, unfettered ring, and hp or resist pieces based on fight.
25% magic down from aegis, 20+MDB, and resists as applicable.

I move between all of these sets and have them all active for every single action that applicable. I cast in the most haste i have possible, use flash/voke/JAs in the most emnity possible, and move to damage down sets when needed to provide me with the smallest amount of emnity lost upon damage recieved.
