Kandiekane, post your gear setup or gtfo seriously, I need a good laugh.
As for me, I blink like a fucking Christmas tree (ask my LS).
I don't think I need to explain when I blink (Pretty much every action), I'll just say I have both Valhalla pieces and I use them on /war, /nin, and /rdm idles, so that alone should tell most people how much I blink. Getting cured is never an issue and I don't have anyone complaining about my blinks because they don't suck, and they can still cure me just as effectively as if I wasn't blinking at all but I am in fact blinking after every action using all of my gear to the fullest.
You fucking idiot, stop spitting bullshit out your ass.
"1 utsusemi or a self cure inbetween flashes" won't allow you to recap VE, because it decays at a quite fast rate actually. If you aren't swapping in all the enmity you can for JAs, or all the haste for casts/Flash, then you are gimping yourself. Guess what, all the non-visible gear you swap in for your actions gets also swapped in by us, plus other gear that goes in visible slots. Snap, we can use more Haste when we need to, or more Enmity when the situation calls for it. And I don't know about your DDs, but I don't really let mine hold back. If they do, they get yelled at. And if I didn't blink, this wouldn't be possible. Seriously, what would you think of a WAR not macroing in Hecatomb Cap for WS? Gimp, amirite? Guess who's also a gimp fuck for not macroing in useful gear when doing stuff? That's right, you.
The only valid (not anymore) point against blinking used to be the problems with targetting, but guess what? SE implemented a couple of nice functions for once, <stpt> and <stal>. If your mages can't be arsed to use those macros, then it's not you the one who sucks donkey penis.
@Neo: I actually prefer to blink when curecheating so I don't get hawked, eventhough I have a non-blinking cureheat set too![]()
Ya I was thinking about changing my cure4 cheat around to some visible swaps, as I could get some more emnity in, but havent decided yet.
Just blink dude. Train people the way you want them to be, not the way they -should- be. You'll obtain a much stronger backup base of LS members that way.
please stop posting
BLINK AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND BITCH AT THE PEOPLE IN YOUR LS THAT BITCH ABOUT YOU BLINKING TO UPDATE THEIR MACROS AND STEP THEIR FUCKING GAME UP. ITS 2009 THERES NO FUCKING EXCUSES ANYMORE PEOPLE! YOU BLINK ON YOUR DD JOB YOU SURE AS FUCK BETTER BE BLINKING ON YOUR TANK JOB!!

If your mages don't know the <p#> and <a##> codes, they fail.
Blink as much as you want. I'm probably invisible 70% of the time.
WAIT! I have a great idea too, either leave this thread and never come back or answer these questions.
1. I want to know how blinking effects your magic timing. I blink all the time and have never seen a change to a mobs attack animation. I have seen ixion take a shadow and no attack animation but I have seen that without blinking also, it just happens. I have never seen it on any other mob.
2. I also want to know your gear setup, because really you dont sound like a tank at all, you sound like a lazy mage who hates blinking tanks.
3. Im going to give you the benefit of the doubt (though I doubt I should) That you agree that blinking will get you near cap faster. By that logic, if it gets you near cap faster, if you lose a chunk it will get you recapped faster. Im not seeing a problem with doing it even if you are "capped." Seeing as there is no such thing as a hate meter, you can never know when you are "really" capped or you just think you are capped. When a DD weaponskills do they think... hmm the mob only has 400 hp left, so i can lose some of my str gear so I dont overkill it?
Will blinking maximize your efficientcy? Yes
I personally don't go to the max like most of the posters are doing. Why? Cause I don't think it's really necessary unless the rest of your LS just sucks that much.
You can get pretty close to the same results by just swapping non/blink gear.
And from the sound of it, you maybe just got pld to 75, and don't have all this gear to swap anyway.
I've found that it's more important to learn to count to 3, than it is to swap around all this gear. If you can't time your shadows, no amount of gear swap is gonna help you much.
If you have good mages that will make the new macros, then blink all you want.
If not, then do the best you can do with what you got to work with.
I've watched alot of tanks in alot of fights, most that blink constantly, usually die alot. Some are very good, but most suck, no matter how many gear swaps they do.
Just my opinion, flame away...
I would actually say quite the opposite, the better the dds/blms are in your linkshell, the more on top of your game you have to be. You hold better hate = them being able to go all out and not take hate. By skimping by with "average" gear and "I keep good hate" as a tank, any melee that runs in and busts out a 2.5k weaponskill is going to get eaten and fast. If you keep your hate maxed out, they may get hit once (or not at all, depending on whether that spell or weaponskill capped their hate), then it will be back on you. People who think they can hold hate "just fine" by not doing any gearswaps either have shitty melee/mages, or their melee/mages have to hold back their full potential so they dont pull hate off the tank.
I'm not defending kandiekane, but I think the equip delay is what they are talking about. Casting Flash, and then trying to cast Ichi or Ni will cause a delay. Its why when I solo imps on BLU I only use one gear set. As far as Tanking and using macros to max hate, haste, kiting, +MDB, etc..., then yeah Blink all you want.
Im not sure what delay you are talking about, because Ive never had any problems with it.
And deathdealer, you're entire stance is "I keep hate fine, and even when I dont, Ill just cure them"... Is that really the stance you wanna go with?
Lose hate > lose mages due to AoE > wipe. If you lose hate, you fail. If it's weak stuff and your DD just deal too much damage, at least have 'em stand close to you or so. Let them get once, maybe twice, and you should have hate back.
I don't have an issue with this because our PLD's don't blink much or at all. They don't lose hate much and do just fine. Of course they all have pretty pimp gear tooProbably the only time they switch is for a weapon bash. Melee on the other hand....
This is officially the topic I am most sick of seeing come up again and again (and again and again and again) on BG. I'd rather have another fucking useless AV topic about "HAY GUYZ ANY1 TRIED ABONY PANELS" than this shit.
Blink, goddamnit, BLINK!
I have never ever experienced any sort of delay in my spells, abilities, or ANY other issues with blinking. This topic needs to go die in a fire.
/sigh
You just don't get it do you.
Forget your JA, WAR, OSHIT, and MDB gearsets because I swap visible gear for those. What are you left with? 2 idle gearsets, flash, and utsu.
The only visible gear swaps for pld are head, body, hands, legs, feet. Toss hands and legs out the door since they are pretty much Homam only.
So what we are basically talking about is head, body, and feet for those 4 gearsets you have.
I either idle in:
1. atonement spam (w turban, homam body, homam feet)
2. shield (koenig head, ares, af+1) <== I ONLY use this rarely during Ichi macro if I need it, and swap back to general before ichi is done casting for haste.
3. general (b mask, ares, homam feet)
So depending which gearset I'm in, my benefits from these 3 slots will change, yes. But look I am not being inefficient.
1. I atonement spam in full haste, so my utsu and flash are capped recast. Any flash, utsu, or cure's have enmity/haste invisible gear swapped out just like you.
2. I use shield set for ichi ONLY if I am getting pummled to try and get shadows back up and mitigate damage. All other invisible gear swaps are used for damage reduction and shield skill just like you. The only difference here is, I swap back to general or atonement gearset after the mob swing and gain the benefit from both shield and capped haste. Although this is rarely needed in any fight thanks to reprisal, slow, and elegy.
3. I idle in general and lose 5% haste from turban but gain 8 enmity from mask. Flash and utsu should both be capped as well since I'm at 15% haste from gear still (double march + haste spell). Any flash, utsu, or cure's have enmity/haste invisible gear swapped out just like you.
So basically, I am just as efficient as you, with less micro management. The only thing you have going for you is hydra haub which not many people have. Other than that, I don't see any difference between your efficiency and mine.
Just because you don't experience it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Do you use blinkmenot? If not, have you cast ichi or ni RIGHT after flash before? If not, that's why you never experienced this. Obviously people other than me are experiencing this not only on PLD but on different jobs as well.
