Sunglasses (It's Spring!)

What kind of sunglasses do you wear? I just bought some I plan to use while I run. I got the Bolle Anaconda w/ polzarized modulator lens. I was going to get some Oakley Half-Jackets, but the lens quality was sort of cheap and I hated the way they fit.

Last summer I rocked some Aviators, but went with a pair I could wear while running this year.

Got those last year. Absolutely love them. I was thinking about picking up a new pair this year since we have an optometry department on campus and we can use our health insurance money to purchase them. Not to mention we get them 20% off for being a student/employee.

Still rocking the Oakley XX Frames from like 3 years ago, but I also have some T-wires and a cheapass pair of OCC sunglasses I picked up from a gas station in the US.

I'm a big believer in not paying big bucks for something that's painfully easy to lose, be it a pair of sunglasses (last pair I lost was 150 bucks) or an umbrella (I bought a $40 umbrella and lost it within a week). Nowadays I just don't trust myself with expensive shit I carry around. Even my cel phone cost 50 bucks.

They look pretty neat, but I got them mostly because I gotta use RX sunglasses, and these were the most appealing sunglasses frames they had.

Also, the lenses in these things are FUCKING AMAZING. They don't wash out color at ALL, but darken everything beautifully.

I learned my lesson. After I switched to contacts, I bought myself a nice pair of Maui Jims to semi-celebrate. I ended up dropping them in a Pennsylvania gas station parking lot during a cross-country motorcycle trip. I didn't realize it until the end of the day when I was in Maine. I've been sticking to the $10 knock-off stand at the mall ever since.

I have a cheapo plastic pair with little rhinestones on the side, that have purple tinted lenses. I got them for $16 at Sear's and I have had them for the last 3 years. =)

I have two pairs of sunglasses. One is a pair of aviator just for walking around and the other is a sporty one like Tyche for running during the summer. I got them about a year ago and am surprised how expensive they were.

2 years old, but still going strong. The fact that the new model looks like old ass doesn't entice me to upgrade. Love the light weight + spring hinges.

Edit: First time I bought a nice pair of sunglasses, my boss at the time said "you'll never be able to go back to the cheap-o's after this" and he was absolutely right. I take a lot better care of them when the cost to replace is so much higher, and the difference in quality is night/day.

I love wearing my Oakleys, Minutes especially. I have a black pair from like 8 years ago still in perfect condition, and a silver pair I bought a few years ago that I love.
