Another potential sacrifice use could be, if you have Afflatus Misery up, to grab a DoT spell from a party member to lower your hp. All depends on whether or not that is going to be worth it in the long run :/

Um... SE just basically added a bunch of stuff you all never thought of in a year of speculating. If you think you can "already guess" what they're going to do to RDM and/or BLM, think again.

Man this was this first morning in a long time I jumped out of bed when I heard and was excited about whm again.

Sort of throws a wrench in my whole whm mythic deal, but oh well! save some money!

Afflatus Misery: Typicaly I'm not taking damage unless it's against a Wyrm or something, so perhaps this can be made useful. Though, the non-cumulative effect does not seem cool since what happens if you take a 800 Damage hit then a 50? I think it needs a quick adjustment that allows it to keep the higher value.

    New Spells:
Sacrifce: Fuck it. Why in hell would you even bother? Just cure the damned status effects and be done with it. Unless the cast, recast and MP cost are stupid low it's not worth the effort. If they are though and your party takes say an AoE bad breath, take all the effects onto yourself then cure them once. That's about it's only use.
depends as well if its PT only, or if it is limited to other things. i could see this being helpfull if it trans say tera.

close to sam HP healed for less mp maybe? add onto dmg from an AoE from say a fafnir or a turned mob? who knows it might have a good use.

you leave out the ACC that can be a big part in many zerg fights even if its just a jump into pt cast run away thing i dont see any downside at all(outside putting en light on drks lol dont do that people takes away their BW not good) all in all i really think this can add a lot.

Bar spells: Okay, I'll take it. Much like the Blessed Briault and the associated Merits this can be rather nice.
Holy/Banish: Research will tell, I cannot comment.

    Other Spells Changes:
Banish MACC+ and Cast time down: Well, okay, I'll take it. I don't banish much but I won't complain.
Cost of Raise/Reraise: All raises at 150MP? Rather sweet, but the recast timer, even with Celerity is 30 seconds (Normaly 60). I'd like to see the recast down a bit.
Speed of Raise/Reraise: Hell yes. See above for more comments though.
Level Requirement Change: All White Mages rejoice. You no longer have to eat an HP or a subpar raise when you know you have better. Wish I had it when I was leveling BST or WHM.
Martyr: Please do this for Devotion. I can't tell you how many times I've had to run in, use Devotion then die because of it's short range (8 Yalms/Meters).

Now that I've made my comments, where is that melee upgrade we were promised?

So, I woke up this morning and they broke White Mage. Apparently this is only Part 1 of breaking jobs they will later NERF.

In all seriousness, I play WHM alot in Limbus and Salvage as well as quite a bit in Einherjar. Though, its by far, not my main job, I'm definitely looking forward to this.

Though much of it seems pretty intense, this is a fix that was a long-time coming. All of this is also 40+ meaning it can't be exploited as a support job. Apparently SE's formula for adjustments seems to have a correlation between how long the adjustment is overdue and how awesome the adjustments are. This is definitely a proportional response to how long White Mages have been neglected.

Congratulations White Mages. As only an event White Mage, I'm pretty excited about this. You career white mages must be having a stroke.

Seriously though, if RDM gets a lolmelee "buff" it would be a waste of a rare job adjustment. I mean, look what win SE has been throwing at us lately, you really want them to buff the most worthless part of the job instead of something worthwhile?

Now, I'm not saying RDM *needs* anything truely major, but something aside from poking stuff with my justice sword would be nice. Personally, I'd like to trade Bio III for Poison III (and having poison scale with enfeebling skill, similar to bio and dark respectively). I'd also love to see RDM get Break (Enfeebling version of stun; same cast, recast, duration ect.) but that will never happen.

I'd just be happy if they removed the seemingly random resists: I hate having 330+ skill, full merits, HQ gear ect. and getting randomly resisted for no reason, while a brd next to me casts the same spell and lands it. (gross exaggeration I know, but you get the point)

I guess I'd rather SE buff a job that truly needs it; RDM really doesn't compared to other jobs.

I was hopping for some people to "finally" realise that this job called "Red Mage" is a melee job. It's very sad to see people like you that still don't get it. Take it or leave it, if you thinkk that RDM = backline, then you are playing the wrong job, go level SCH.
God I hope I'm getting whooshed here, but I'll bite. Just because a job has the ability to wear a melee weapon and has some skill with it, doesn't make it a melee job. BLU is a melee job. RDM, BLM, SMN, SCH ect, are not. RDM has FAR more to offer a party/alliance at the backline than it does poking shit with a sword. I think you're playing the wrong job, not me.

And btw, I did level SCH. Can't you see my sig?

My guess is, Sacrifice works outside of party. So a use for it is taking a status effect that's only erasable, from an alliance member who isn't in party with a form of erase, maybe? Situational usage, but not useless if that's the case. I could be wrong, but it solves the "I have x!" "Sorry, not in your party" dynamic that tends to happen to the members in the you-came-late party.

Summoner already got a pretty big change with the Ward thing. Red Mage has pretty much been unchanged since its release, so that one being adjusted somehow I can understand, though its hard not to give RDM something without breaking it at the moment.

Dancer needs an adjustment, and perhaps Black Mage. Scholar needs to get Stoneskin and Blink to make it more viable a support job for Black Mage as well. With the adjustment to Reraise, BLM/SCH would now have Reraise, but it's still way too squishy without stoneskin and blink.

It just sounded like you could pop it and it would calculated based off of recent damage taken because it would seem kind of weird. So you have to choose either or when it comes to a stance, and for you to get the bonus from Misery and Cura you have to take damage...

    So basically
Misery Stance = Enhanced healing support with a bonus to Banish
Solace Stance = Enhance Defensive support with a bonus to Holy

That right there does indeed seem to enhance exactly what WHM does

Now I just hope one of the new avatars is Odin so that I'll have a tough choice to make between leveling WHM or SMN first. If not, I guess YY Robe/Relic Head will be sitting in my mog house for a long time.

That was due to a lack of update. And I guess you don't read interviews lately, the goal of the update is to increase the frontline now, not backline, because they were supposed to be versatile. Now that SCH has been released, SE want to increase the difference between SCH and RDM, RDM was supposed to be more offenvise.

Not everything, I know. But it's not a bad thing to throw a preliminary out there.

Someone did mention to me that Sacrifice could be the cure for Amnesia.

As for leaving out the ACC, yeah, totaly my fault.
