Score, snagged both Witcher games for 10 bucks. Still never had the chance to play them but I've heard they're pretty great.

Figured I'd ask in here. I am running into an issue about a steam deal and wanted to know if someone has done something similar.
Basically, all of the sims 3 expansions are on sale for really cheap. I've been wanting pets and it's only $13 (and one of the katy perry ones is only $6...).
Anyway, my sims 3 and other sims expansions were bought through origin. Apparently, you cannot take an origin product key and input it on steam (at least for sims, there are a few you can). BUT, origin recognizes steam keys including sims + expansions.
So I was going to buy it on steam and put the key on origin, but steam won't let me buy the expansion because I don't have the base game on steam.
Hubby was thinking that he could buy the expansion and then gift it to me (or I'd gift it to myself). Would I be able to access the product key that way getting it as a gift? or would it still give some kind of error for not having the base game?
As well, anyone have any experiences doing refunds on steam? like he he tries to gift it and I can't access the key could we somehow refund our money.
Have you tried contacting Steam customer service? The stories I've seen around the interwebs suggest that they are super helpful. Maybe they can help you buy it and can provide you the key somehow so you can plug it into Origin. They should also be able to answer your refund question. They may or may not be available over the weekend though.![]()
ya, but they only do through email so may take a bit to get a response. Sale ends in like 42 hours.
I think worst case scenario if your husband buys it for you as a gift and you can't use it they will give you a refund. This isn't based on personal experience though, just things I've seen posted before. You might be able to google around and find more information on how they handle refunds. Sorry I can't be more helpful, maybe someone else will chime in.
no worries ty for the help. I was looking through the sims 3 forum on steam, and I THINK that if you gift the game and can't see the key you might be able to get the customer service rep to give it to you.
I've seen one post that says they did that, another that said they got an in-store credit (but that one sounded like he asked right away for a refund rather than the key or something). If I don't get a response to my ticket by midday tomorrow I may just give it a shot.
Sims 3? Oh my.
I WANT A PONY BUT I ONLY WaNT TO PAY $13 FOR THAT PONY

Since being pressured by 2K Games into raising the price on Borderlands 2 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown for ANZ customers, Green Man Gaming haven’t been sitting quietly on their hands. Their solution: a voucher that gives 30% off on all titles where publishers have forced them to gouge Australians unfairly.
“We have thought long and hard about the ANZ market that has been so good to GMG in the past and what our approach should be,” said Green Man to us last night. “We value our loyal customers in Australia and New Zealand and, as such, GMG are taking the hit so that we can offer the value you have come to expect from us.”
That’s right: with the code GMGAU-3J9MF-MUINW, you can get 30% off the price of Borderlands 2, now down to $50 (and its DLC Season Pass, now $28), Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage (down to $11), Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty (down to $11), Spec Ops: The Line (down to $21), Civilization V: Gods & Kings (down to $36), XCOM: Enemy Unknown (down to $50), and NBA 2K13 (down to $36).
This code is valid for the next 10 years — although GMG warn us this may be subject to change, but that’s the plan at least. Remember, this 30% off voucher is only valid on price-gouged titles such as the ones above.
games.on.net remains very proud to be a partner with Green Man Gaming, and help bring Australians the best possible prices — even in the face of publisher gouging practices. Thanks, GMG!
Not an Aussie but have heard time and again about their plight. That seems very cool of GMG.
