It can still be fun, but good luck beating it on Advance difficulty or higher with them, they're just not competent enough even when they have aim-bot abilities.
(there are no means of issuing orders to them, which is annoying as they like to waste med kits)

L4D for me was more of a social-action game, I need the mic spam of "FUCK FUCK TANK, GET BACK!" and teammates yelling or oh-shitting when shit hits the fans, or dominating the other team in Versus mode.

How is killing floor btw? When I first got steam it looked really cool, but the price made me hold off a bit after reading some reviews. I'll likely get it if they ever put it up for sale for a reasonable price. Is it worth getting if I already have both L4D's?

edit: LOL killing floor special JUST came out. 10$ with all DLC's. Worth it?

Showing as $13 here with the 3 DLC packs included. I got it during the summer sale when it was $5 + $1 per DLC. DLC are just character packs btw, and they're for cosmetic purposes only.

Still, $10 for the game itself isn't bad, but for me it took a few hours of playing before it started to grow on me. It can get fucking intense if you're in with a good group on the higher difficulties. It's all about survival and teamwork than it is rushing to a safehouse a la L4D. You die FAST in Killing Floor in comparison, you can't afford to stray from your group at all on later waves. I usually play the Medic class as I like playing support, and having a gun that can shoot healing bullets it handy so I can cover people in an entire room.

One of the gameplay features I quite enjoy is being able to weld doors shut to help stagger off the waves, where I and a couple others usually load the door up with pipebombs for when they finally bust through it.
(doors respawn each wave thank god)

Seems the sale is due to the patch they just released, which added four new maps, along with the new DLC character pack, so I'll be checking that out soon enough when I go to update it.

Just keep in mind the game has low presentation values, the menu itself just an ugly reskin of UT2K4's (uses a modified version of the Unreal2 engine), the loading screens are terrible, there's only the one voice-pack used for everyone (the english dude). The gameplay is solid though, and the visuals aren't half-bad at all even if the environments may lack the polycount. Runs super-smooth on any PC made in the last five years though thanks to it.

I wouldn't mind a BG night or two playing the game. Shit is great with people who have mics and varied selection of classes.

There's 2 voices actually. But yeah, it's a damn fun game if you get some friends together to play it. Should be able to get more than your moneys worth out of it for $10 for sure. Just know it plays nothing like L4D really. Closest L4D comes to it is the finales where you're stuck defending yourself for a length of time. Killing Floor is all about holding up in a safe spot with a group. First few waves you can run around blasting the crap out of everything but you will quickly get slaughtered later in without backup, it's not a solo friendly game in the slightest.

How is Titan Quest? I've never even heard of it but it looks like it could possibly be entertaining.

Hack n' Slash. Not bad, enjoyed the demo. Bought it, for 5 bucks, why not?

Grind is somewhat a pain since it took me ~6 hours to hit level 8. Although I'm probably doing something wrong or took the wrong class. My first class was Defender which lacks any damage abilities then for my 2nd (and final) class I choose Rouge (Defender + Rouge = Corsair so I couldn't resist) which seems to focus on enfeebles (Can put a poison effect on my weapon) and enhances piercing attacks.

It is a fun game though, you can jump on with other players and host your own game. Going to try this with Oz tomorrow to see what partying is like.

^ This game is a beast and will consume your graphics card. People are using it as the DX11 alternative to Crysis to test their overall performance. Very beautiful game but the story is pretty boring.

^ I second this. That game is gorgeous. Another post-apocalyptic game, but the whole ghost vibe thing it has going on is pretty cool. The endings are meh, though. Would like to see a sequel, though.

Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 are on sale again to celebrate their release on OS X. 50% off each, 15 dollars total for both. Good idea to grab them if you're interested in them and you didn't buy them when they were on sale to promote the The Sacrifice campaign.

I want them to throw up the Dungeon Siege 2 expansion pack so I can finally pick that up on the cheap.
