Great little puzzler, albeit short. Give the demo a whirl if you've not touched it before, it'll give you an idea of what to expect.
Yeah I loved Braid, definitely worth grabbing if you haven't played it. Fun puzzles, and weird/interesting/cool storytelling style.
Weekend deal is up, Ubisoft Hit collection (Assassin Creed :DC,Far cry 2, Rainbow Sex Vegas 2, and Call of Juarez: BiB) 13 bux
Far cry 2 alone is worth it
Edit: Woops Ragnell's post didn't show up for me at first.
Mafia 2 is $7.50 until Thursday. I'm tempted, but probably gonna pass.
Darksiders 75% off, 10 bucks.
I was just looking at that. Has anyone played it? I feel compelled to purchase anything that is heavily discounted and looks remotely interesting, but I can't decide on this one.
It's a brilliant game. I played it on PS3 though so I won't be picking it up.
I don't know about brilliant, but I enjoyed it. It's basically Zelda meets World of Warcraft shoulderpads. 10 bucks is a great price though for the length of it.
Also, Monday Night Fight is free until the end of the weekend.
Yeah, pretty much this. Imagine playing a post-apocalyptic zelda that looks like World of Warcraft. It was super fun and even has a tiny bit of RPG elements when it comes to leveling up your weapons, but every bit of dialog and character design made me cringe or laugh out loud.
Question though... I've been looking for something fun, a bit mindless, but long-lasting (in terms of character growth) to play. Specifically an rpg/dungeon-crawler/hack-slash/Gauntlet/Diablo/DungeonSiege/clone-ish or something...? I was about to buy Magicka as it seems like it might meet those needs, but it's rather unclear whether a lot of the critical bugs I'm reading about have been patched out... and whether keyboard mapping has been implemented since most of the bad reviews go on about it crashing or requiring a middle mouse button, etc. Also, it appears to have some stupid difficulty scaling for single-player... Anyone approve of it or have any other suggestions?
(herpa derpa, downloading the demo right now, but I'm not sure it will answer my questions)
^ A diablo II clone called torchlight came out a little over a year ago, I picked it up for $5 months ago on steam but haven't really gotten to it yet.^
magicka is fun multiplayer, but it's not really a "long-lasting" game. My little brother and I burned through the whole thing in about 6 hours. It's not really that fun single player either. Torchlight or Din's Curse is probably more what you're looking for. Din's Curse has been getting rave reviews, but it's not on steam. You can get it on Impulse.
Yeah, I gave the Magicka demo a shot, but I found the elemental spell system entirely too complex and ultimately awkward to control for how fast-paced and swarming dungeon crawlers can get. Seemed too slow.
Torchlight though, yes. Definitely close to what I was looking for... even though that art style is not my thing at all, but it is consistent and polished for what it is. I had heard the name a bunch but never ended up looking into it. Kinda' wish I didn't miss that 66%-off deal now. I looked into Din's Curse a bit, but in comparison to having just tried out Torchlight, it looked pretty bland and slowwww.
If only they chose a less obnoxious typeface for everything in Torchlight... and the item info boxes need some organization.
i haven't used this so i'm not sure how well it works, or does exactly what you want, but your post made me google out of wonder: http://www.runicgamesfansite.com/dow...do=file&id=510
Not steam exactly, but it's a Steamworks game so you'll get the code to activate it on Steam.

CoD: Black Ops is on sale for $45, use code MARCHMADNESS to get an extra 20% off bringing it to roughly $35. Code works on the DLC too.
Had an issue with a Steam deal and I had purchased a game on launch day but the cheaper deal was not published until like oh...two hours after I bought it. I was pissed but wrote to customer service via email. They reversed my charges, deleted the first game and allowed me to purchase it again at the deal price. Very polite! So if you don't get that steam deal because you just missed it by a mere 'reload page' click and you contact them in the same day it should work out. OF course he gave me the 'one time only' disclaimer.![]()
Also, I am new to Steam [my first game through them] and learned that I could get DLC's outside of Steam to use in a Steam game, if they are not yet available via Steam. Steam CS told me I could not but the publisher of the game told me otherwise, I tried it and it worked. I guess the Steam CS is not allowed to vouch for other sites. Perhaps that is why he/she discouraged me from doing it and tried to get me to wait for it to come out through them but the DLC was a plot significant item and I was not about to wait or start the new game without it.
They are sort of right. It goes on a game-by-game basis, usually it won't work but games like Bad Company 2 use an in-game activation system so it doesn't matter where you get the dlc, as long as you have the code to activate it. Now that I think about it, seems a lot of EA's newer games are doing this too.
This appears to work... sorta. It requires a .TFF file to pull from unfortunately, and as soon as I stop being too lazy to dig one up of the typefaces I want in .TFF format, this will be great. Thanks!
Is it normal for achievements on a demo not to carry over to the full version when you decide to buy?
